      But it was still a malfunction. He was towing it with someone inside as maybe a tad (is threat the word?). Some towing companies do that if the driver doesn’t not want to get out of the car. The driver was not directed to get out of the car so if he tried to, the officer could have either shot him or tase him for possibly going to attack the officer. He has to wait until the cop says he needs to get out. The dumb hook didn’t know when to stop going up.

      Scout About - there’s no way a malfunction can occur that attaches the car and flips it without the driver attaching it himself and turning something on. Neither procedure should have been done at all. There may have been a malfunction, but regardless of the malfunction, there would have been no damage done if the guy followed protocol.

      Theres probably a few more key sentences on there that identify that the driver was never told to get out of the vehicle and he wasn't told that his car was currently being hooked up to the tow truck.

      In any case where my car had to be towed, the operator made sure that I, and any important belongings, were out of the car before he started doing anything. That's mandatory. You don't just start jacking up the car with a person inside.

    Malfunction makes sense since you'll never have to lift the boom that high to tow a car. However, malfunction or not, this is a good reason not to begin towing a car with somebody inside. Just good safety and common sense practice.

      Officer and the driver were talking and didn't expect the tow truck driver to hook up and lift the car with the driver inside it. The Tow truck operator should not have hooked the car up without first approaching the car to see if it had been cleared of occupants. He was hurrying up to do his job and failed to do important safety checks. Dude is a liability and a danger to everyone.

      @@a10miletooth theres a lot of wires that go into a tow truck. One of my drivers had his winch stick on and it flipped a car off the back of his truck. He knows how to use it. To be fair he does not know how to keep the customer safe as hes still in the car! The first thing you should do is get the customer out of the car. Maybe you need to reconsider commenting stuff that you dont know about. The emergency stop might not be in his control box it might be in one of the lockers.

He made no attempt to shut down regardless of where it's located. And your driver flipping a vehicle over due to a stuck controll is because he wasn't properly trained.       Yetabyte Most rigs actually have a PTO On/Off switch inside the cab of the truck, flatbeds have them and self loaders usually have them as well. They’re usually located where the J BRAKE button is.

      @@hunterthomas5876 I'm calling it a kill switch I'm sure they have a different name but it's the big red button that's on the control unit and generally a few other spots on the truck. Basically cuts the power to the hydraulics, it's a safety feature that I'm sure is mandatory no matter what country you're from.

      As far as the operator, I had the brakes fail on my Jeep coming up to a light that as aboutnto turn red back in January and my initial response was shock and trying them again while sailingnthrough the freshly red light before grabbing the shifter to pull it from Drive, into 3rd, then down to the 1-2 detent before grabbing the handbrake (it was also in Full Time 4wd, so that applied what braking force I had to the front axle too) and using that to slow the truck. Managed to drive it home like that too!

      I swear if I had any power over the entire company, they’re at fault, driver fired and staff retrained, done, driver shouldn’t have done that, “malfunction” is irrelevant when the tow truck driver A.       What’s he gonna do run to the other side to catch the car? He’s not going to run to the car after it being flipped if there’s cars going freeway speeds that could easily hit the car. He’d wait until he can safely go to vehicle to help the guy. He did the right thing. Called in for EMS and waited for the traffic to slow down
