    Very interesting topic. It is true, I remember getting requests for family too early on. Onetime I forgot a MOTHER! Luckily I had a few and put them in and she was happy. 😊 I'm the same as well, I will make small changes no fus, because it rarely ever happens. In fact I don't even have it in my contract. But I think adding it in won't hurt in case I do get a nightmare change in the future. Thanks so much, love the videos!

    I think if you are getting that many couples wanting "family style" photos in a highlight film, maybe explaining up front that isn't something you do? I know that has helped me a ton. I look at your brand (granted I do what you do) and just don't see how a couple would want that. That's what a photographer is there for. I have somewhat of a blah version of a "welcome package" (looking to perfect it over the summer), but it details what to expect, things that are great and bad for film...for me the biggest is setting proper expectations before filming!

      So true on setting expectations. That is huge. If you've set the expectation up front that you don't do them and the couple is okay with that then it frees your time up on the wedding day :)

    I had one bride a year ago ask I include everyone in the fam and extended family (rare thing but it happened)
    If I hadn’t filmed fam portraits I wouldn’t have been able to accommodate that request
    I do questionnaires and calls as well
    A lot of it was changing my mindset
    Feeling that if I had a request for revisions that they didn’t like the film
    Has to learn not to take it personally

    If they want to pay for the revisions, how do you handle payments? Do you require the full amount before you begin?

      Great question! If they want to pay I’ll make an invoice in honeybook and send it to them when all the changes are complete. I do this because it might take more hours then initially estimated.

    I would say the questionnaire tip is vital, can't imagine not having an answered questionnaire from our couples.
    In addition to all of these tips you mentioned & intense self-scrutiny to the videos before we upload, we have found that delivering a youtube unlisted watch link of the creative edit, along with the rest of the downloadable dropbox files helps give a feeling of completion to our clients. While we would always accommodate a revision, we aren't ever asked about it.

      Great idea!! We also find that sending the final video on a website or landing page shows that the film is complete and minimizes changes!

    So helpful thank you so much guys ! I talk to the clients about de music that I usually use or if they have any suggestions about it..because change the music it’s imposible haha

    Thanks for sharing these resources! Thankfully I’ve never had to deal with any much revisions for wedding videos but a lot from corporate/non profit videos. You are right. Pre-production is the key!

    Thank you for the video! When you say an hour and a half, does that include exporting and uploading time, or do you not charge for that?

    David, do you guys try to fill out the questionnaire while you're on the phone with the client on the skype call? PS...I LOVE LOVE LOVE filming the family photo sesh!

      We usually send it to the couple to fill out 1-2 weeks before the Skype call that way we can go over anything they put on the questionnaire before the call :)
