We got a car ive always wanted last year. 03 TL type s. White on tan. Fantastic car. I look forward to a complete rebuild in the future but I'll be doing this and some other projects soon. I was an Acura tech from 2010-2013 then Toyota until 2019 then bmw for a year. Then I got into service advisor roles. I'm retired for now working from home when I get the chance. I did an apprenticeship at Acura then stayed long enough to get really comfortable. At Toyota it was a heavy line and diagnostic eye opening experience. A lot of what I learned was useful but I was a fish out of water at Toyota. I ended up doing really well there and getting sent to Tons of factory training and got my ase's over the years. Toyota loves that ❤ I became a diagnostic machine at Toyota and bmw was very happy to have me. Best time in my career was at the end there.

When I was doing it I would just tighten the adjuster screws until they would pinch the feeler gauge and couldn't move, then back off a tiny amount until the feeler gauge could slide around again without binding.

Same here worked perfectly but it’s those damn rear exhaust valves that are a nightmare to get to lol 😂

That’s the very reason you should have that powerbilt valve adjustment tool which allows you hold the valve rod and turn the nut at the same damn time 😂

Do you think I could put those dual overhead cam heads on my J32A1 ? If so how much are you going to be offering them for purchase and when?

@P2R Power Rev Racing what are your thoughts on j37 ticking noise? Will valve adjustment help or are my rockers and cam damaged?

    • @ggg17ggg17

@@vitalracing_fuji8954it’s your timing belt tensioner and timing belt tensioner pulley that’s right next to your tensioner. Replace them and your ticket will go away at start up. It ticks and start up and goes away after it heats up. If it’s worse it’ll tick all the time but it’s not your valve adjustment but you should still do your valve adjustment.

Thanks for another great tutorial. You have a great "touch" as you work thru a task. I have several totally stock J35s and all run great. The oldest is a '13 Accord at 126K miles, always 0W20 full synthetic changed according to the built in reminder. Valves are totally quiet, even at a 0 degree cold start. Any reason to check valve adjustment, or just let it roll?

Wish I had found this video a week ago. Just replaced a leaking valve cover gasket on a2013 3.5 w/ 150k miles. While the covers were off I checked valve clearances and “found” the number 5 exhaust to be a little tight. After looking at this video I think it may have been the gauge angle off causing binding. I now have a slight valve tick. Is it worth going back in to check/correct?

Great video Sean. Nothing different to look for with the aluminum rockers? Same process correct. Or any tricks with them. J Swap Jason.

Same process for the aluminum rockers. Just slightly different torque specs.

Please make a video how to easily remove the J series engine from the car so we can get to the valves as easily as you did. 😂

I notice there are two lines on the gear itself. One long line and one short one that's right on the tooth. Is the long like the correct one for TDC?

So is the rocker arm supposed to be loose? I tried doing this, and incoulnt get the guage to slip under..so I loosened the bolt&screw and now it sounds like it idels a Lil rough.

Hey, thought I ask this question here since you guys are J series experts. I have ‘16 Accord V6. Recently bought it with abt 40k miles, the car was sitting for about a month (his uncle switched on and drove here and there very briefly) I changed the spark plugs & oil.. basically a tuneup. Now almost a month later, the car only when it’s warm feels like it’s about to die but comes back to life only when it’s stopped (traffic light for eg). Checked battery and alternator with meter reading, everything checks out fine. Just the battery terminals are a bit dusty but idk. What do you think could be?

I see your comment was 5 months ago hopefully you figured it out. Can you let me know what the issue was? I love solving car mysteries. lol But I would def check EGR ports, valve. Was their any lights on? Also with the car sitting for so long I would check for rodent damage. They love to live in the area underneath the intake. But please let me know if you can. Thank you dear sir.

Do i need a HDS to perform a valve adjustment on a 2019 ridgeling?

    • @PowerRevRacing
      @PowerRevRacing  10 місяців тому

I don't see any reason why you would need to use the HDS for a valve adjustment.
