I feel like the mainstream obsession with graphics has stifled actual innovation in games technology, everything is superficially 'impressive looking' but largely a facade Like, the fact that a nearly two-decades-old engine is _still_ able to pull off tech tricks you'd rarely if ever see in a modern AAA game is pretty telling
EXACTLY I've been always saying this too. There are soo many aspects of games that have barelly evolved in the last 20 years, because graphics seem to be always what matters the most. Things like AI, particle quantity and physics are all pretty similar since the days of Half Life 2. For me one of the worst offenders to that is entity quantity. Its HORRIBLE seing corpses and small details disapearing and unloading at your face because the game "can't handle". Take Doom Eternal for example, while it has some amazing graphics, corpses, bullet marks and blood all despawn SECONDS after they are made, and honestly I would really preffer that this game had way worse graphics but those things as permanent than what we have now. It would be amazing seeing the results of all the carnage you have done.
As I've often said, it's amazing to see what the Source Engine can do, despite being a game engine from *_2004._* Heck I'd say one of the most impressive addons I've seen made for Gmod is "VRMod", which literally allows you to *play Gmod in VR!*
honestly old games are so great and with the newer ones theyre always oh look im pretty or oo i have a cool art direction and that gets old fast. games nowadays have such clunky mechanics or nothing new that really makes it feel diferent. when you play something in say a source game with dev textures it still feels like a good game, take cp_orange for example. many games nowadays are just trying to be pretty with the same or arguably worse movement the only new game ive liked as of late would be teardown, before that, titanfall 2 (a source game so thats cheating but still)
Would be neat if you made it so that if you touched it you'd be teleported to the spot. Should be possible since relative teleportation is already a thing in the source engine
Creative use of a skybox, i could see this being a cool gimmick in a sourcemod of some kind, reminds me a bit of Prey (2017), maybe you could try to apply it to some kind of breakable wall.
@@iMythikk it is tho, a skybox projected onto a texture, which is why you can observe the viewport changing when the props start moving. There is literally no other way to achieve this effect.

nah, it would need a option, i could see admins using this as a prison so that wound need to be something you can turn on and off
