The vehicle in the bike lane if you would look a little closer was spraying it with brine so that the cyclists could bike safely on it. Then the pedestrian crossing in PItt Meadows where the walker was trying to cross. If they had pushed the button then the lights would have flashed and they would have been crossing so much faster. Don't blame it all on the drivers, because pedestrians are not so innocent either.

Well the person who sent the pedestrian video said that the lights actually don't work there (government needs to fix them ASAP) and also someone died there recently. I agree pedestrians should be pushing the button but also drivers need to pay attention

I don't drive. I have notice that '"NO ONE WATCH OUT FOR PEDESTRIANS""! I have call city of Burnaby to put speed limit? NO.
And I have ask pedestrian cross walk with light? If anyone has a video on two different street but there close the each other Halifax Avenue at Rosser Avenue Burnaby, BC ( Madison centre area) and Rosser at Lougheed Highway. And there is old folks home. We have regular pedestrian cross walk. I'm pedestrian myself trying to cross the street I have to wait up 5 to 10 cars and trucks go by before I walk a cross the street! It's bad. Night time is really ""BAD""! I wear a bright green jacket with safetyvest I don't wear black jacket at day time or Night time.

FYI, the “orange tractor” in the bike lane is a City of Vancouver jitney. They are made for bike lanes. They brine, salt, plow and clean the bike lanes, so it was supposed to be there. Just a little fun fact. 😊👍. I could see it spraying as it went by, so that was most likely brine to keep cyclist from slipping on ice.

Segment 3:50 to 4:28, that is a pedestrian controlled crosswalk. It is triggered by pressing a button to activate the yellow flashing lights over the crosswalk which alerts drivers that there are pedestrians who want to use the crosswalk. The cars that stop for the pedestrians when the lights are not activated are creating a road hazzard to those drivers that actually know the rules of the road. Review your drivers manual.

    • @pauluminous
      @pauluminous 4 роки тому

Review your drivers manual? Pot calling the kettle?
Those lights are nothing more than an extra safety measure.
Pedestrians have the right of way on ANY crosswalk regardless if they activated the flashing lights. Maybe the lights malfunctioned?
But I agree, stopping for a crosswalk without anybody actually indicating they want to cross is just as stupid as stopping for jaywalkers.

BOTH the ped and the cars are in the wrong... Once the ped signal has turned to the red hand, peds MAY NOT BEGIN CROSSING. IF the ped has begun crossing while the walk signal is white, then the vehicles MUST stop for the ped. (Sec 132, Motor Vehicles Act, BC) -
      Pedestrian controls
132 (1) When the word "walk" or an outline of a walking person is exhibited at an intersection by a pedestrian traffic control signal, a pedestrian may proceed across the roadway in the direction of the signal in a marked or unmarked crosswalk and has the right of way over all vehicles in the intersection or any adjacent crosswalk.
      (2) When the word "walk" or an outline of a walking person is exhibited at a place other than an intersection by a pedestrian traffic control signal, a pedestrian may proceed across the roadway in the direction of the signal and has the right of way over all vehicles.
      (3) When the word "wait", the words "don't walk" or an outline of a raised hand are exhibited at an intersection or at a place other than an intersection by a pedestrian traffic control signal,
(a)a pedestrian must not enter the roadway, and
(b)a pedestrian proceeding across the roadway and facing the word "wait", the words "don't walk", or an outline of a raised hand exhibited after he or she entered the roadway
      (i) must proceed to the sidewalk as quickly as possible, and
(ii) has the right of way for that purpose over all vehicles.
