The band clearly firing on all cylinders here. Dave's vocals are excellent here, his singing on this is one of the best live performances I've ever heard from him....the trade off solos are so tasty, such an underrated song from an overlooked album. Although not as technically driven as some of their material it does show the calibre of the musicianship these guys are renowned for. I love Megadeth, and I've been a fan since I was 16, I'm now 40 and i know I'll be a fan until I'm in the ground. Long live the deth
Sucks that they play stuff like A Tout Le Monde from Youthanasia... That album is filled with great songs, Killing Road, this one, Blood of Heroes, Addicted to Chaos and Youthanasia. Sad that they play only the biggest hit from it :/

Max Durk lyrically this is their best album. Dave’s noice is amazing too and the riffs are still pretty chunky and heavy. It’s a change from their sound but I think it’s a good one.

I like both, those guy (Metallica n megadeth )are really great, but imo, in certain aspect megadeth is more dynamic and more consistent in their direction, compare to Metallica, simple explanation just like mcd and burger king,
Holy wars…wow I remember finding this gem at a swapmeet as a teenager…guy who sold it to me didn’t know what he had. Blasted this on the way home with my dad in cd player inside car lol. So epic. Later transferred songs to “iPod “. Now it’s in my phone and play it for my kids. ❤
Youthanasia was pretty big. The albums after were not. At the time of its release Youthanasia was popular in both alternative and metal circles. Sure it wasn't a #1 album but it wasn't a flop either. Risk almost ended their career though.

@@777Eliyahu Countdown sold more than Youthanasia because they still had the Rust in Peace crowd. They lost some of them in the shuffle because Countdown wasn't a pure thrash record. Youthanasia was mostly purchased by the new fans from Countdown and a small group of original fans like me. That is the main reason. It was popular at the time though.
@@johnwilliams8130 I think there are a few reasons Youthanasia wasn't as big a seller as CTE, the shift in fan base certainly has something to do with it, fans from the 80s getting off-board. The quality of the album itself was never the issue, even though it was their "slowest" record to date (but dang the atmosphere and the guitar playing are just incredible). My biggest gripe from this period was using "Train of Consequences" as the lead single. It's the one song on the album that I never really cared for, and the vocals seem to highlight the worst qualities in Dave's style. Not a recipe for mainstream traction. I would have gone with "Killing Road."
