Lyrics:
[Solo: Mustaine]
Bestow upon me Knowledge
Wizard, all knowing, all wise
[Solo: Friedman]
I want to rule this kingdom
Make sweet the breeze now defiled
[Solo: Friedman]
Dethrone the evil prince's iron fists
In velvet gloves of sin
[Solo: Friedman]
Parade the grey robed monks
The vestal virgins, wheel the wyvern's in
[Solo: Friedman]
[Solo: Friedman]
Let the ceremony consecrate marriage
Let me be the protege of Five Magics
Give me alchemy, give me wizardry,
Give me sorcery, thermatology
Electricity, Magic if you please,
Master all of these, Bring him to his knees
I master five magics, I master five magics
I master five magics, I master five magics
Possessed with hellish torment, possessed with hellish torment
I master magics five, I master magics five
Hunting the abyss lord, hunting the abyss lord
Only one will stay alive, only one will stay alive
He who lives by the sword, he who lives by the sword
Will surely also die, will surely also die
He who lives in sin, he who lives in sin
Will surely live the lie
[Solo: Mustaine]
The riffs, solos, the drum beat, the bassline, song structure and everything on this song is certainly forged by some kind of 5 magics.
Yes this is pure magic...Absolute masterpiece.
Yes.
Rlly like the singing in this song too
Mustaine, Friedman, Ellefson, Menza, drugs.
marty, dave, david, menza and vic are the five magics
It's a crime they never played this live with Nick on the kit. The fans deserved that. Nick was a fucking monster on the outro that sound check is pure aggression. RIP
Did they really never play this live with nick ?!?!? Wtff
@@hiroszyma45 nope. You only can find Nick Jr & Marty played this song on soundcheck in clash of titans 1990 but never played it live the whole tour.
i just wish they played this song more live
+Dave Mustaine this is one of megadeths best. instead they play the same old songs every fucking concert. its holy wars, hangar 18, peace sells, wake up dead, hook in mouth, in my darkest hour, a tout le monde and so on
+The Extinct Surgeon it's because he's a Christian pussy now and doesn't wanna sing a bout satan and cool stuff anymore
yeah but five magics isnt about all that stuff, its about this one book, and same with rust in peace polaris its not satanic but i really wish they played those songs more as it is megadeths best and most crazy thrashy songs
+Dave Mustaine seriously right, no more conjuring, black Friday :/
+Dave Mustaine for me is peace sell,s.......so far so good so what and rust in peace the best stuff ever!!! and your live performance is fucking good. The sound and dave,s bass guitar is amazing.
Marty Friedman composed such weird but uniquely amazing solos. Some of the stuff he came up with for this album hasn't been topped, yet, IMO.
Definitely one of the best metal guitar players ever, Period.
Ian Bourg Friedman and Blackfire are two of my favourites. Nobody can do Metal solos like they do.
+SylentEcho how about dimebag? :)
Lester van den Berg That's a given, man! :)
Peace sells is just as good imo
i love the voice distorstion on dave ellefson its so cool its sounds like its strait outta 1990
GunsnRosesfan2012 sounds fuckin' evil. They should use that voice effect in other songs.
yeah it's so freaking awesome
I dont think it actually sounds like that live, probably just another overdub added in post production, you can hear tons in this video, especially with Daves vocals.
Kamizi all of the vocals in this live album are overdubbed in post, including junior’s back up vocals
David still used Jackson, Dave has changed to ESP and then to Dean which never suit his sound at all.
I love how Broderick plays fairly close to the original solos but with his own touch.
whos the guitarist here ?
@@6955beniegn The guitarist here is Broderick. He has quit Megadeth as of right now and they have someone called Kiko Louirero instead.
Valoo Kiko is fabulous
@@222MovieMan thanks, this album is so good, i keep coming back to it, they need to bring back Marty Friedman
@@6955beniegn Marty is doing his own metal stuff in Japan :/ But yeah would love to see thrm play together again.
Dave's solo was just a masterpiece!
TheGreatNorthernBuzzKill which Dave
@@tylerbrah4676 facepalm
@@skurk3448 same 😂😂
@@skurk3448 that's a joke,sense it .now Jokes on you
@@skurk3448 Welp, how about both?
what i love is the amazing buildup to the song.....the tension and anger just waiting to burst out ANY moment. Musical masterpiece really....more people should see this.
One of the best songs from Megadeth
liveShit ßss
From andhra?
0:35 "Turn it up, dude!"
Lol
Hats off to Broderick love or hate him he absolutely smashed these leads note for note 🔥🎸
Agreed!!
Chris' magics
Who hates him? Ever live I've seen he nails like you said
He's definitely an incredible musician but I absolutely hate his tone in these live videos.
Yeah dude he nailed this so hard, mad respect to him.
underrated song
For sure
Definitely
My fav
My favortie megadeth song
i? had really no idea they dont play this song at their prime?? wtf
Daves vocals are on point here!!!!
+PanamaSabroso Because they're dubbed. Pay attention to the movement of his lips.
+Conshe Tumare its actually just d standard
Yep, I used to think this live album is overdubbed but appearently not. You can compare it to the fan recorded footage here watch?v=idickP4k_9s
I will see it.
Not sure of dubbed but sounds autotuned honestly.
5:55 magics.
five hundred and fifty five maaagics!
The actual number of the beast

1:34 '' i fkin love youuu dave'' !!!
Haha never noticed that
Which dave tho? 🤔
Dave is a fantastic guitarplayer and songwriter this was good that metallica kicking dave out from Metallica........and Megadeth was born!
mike stienen kicking Dave from Metallica was the best thing to happen in rock cause we wouldn't have megadeth
Julian Morgan metal, not rock, but agreed
Fukk yeah bro
This was said like a billion times now
Best move ever for metal fans, and for both Metallica and Mustaine as well. Win - win.
Holy Wars? Hangar 18? Meh... FIVE MAGICS OWNS BIG TIME!
one of my most fave songs. love these guys, grew up listening to them :)
Kuishibo Hell yeah!
IMO Everybody’s overall musical compositions here are better than holy wars and hangar 18
Easy big fella. They all have their dynamic! But this is my fave too lol
Kuishibo those songs are definitely not meh but this one still kicks ass
David Ellefson looks possessed
.. with hell-ectronics !
I've had that bassline stuck in my head for a year...
Favorite Megadeth song, in the midst of seeing the whole album being performed live, so grateful I was there!
One of mine as well... Marty's fifth solo over Dave's intricate yet kick-ass riff is musical genius up there with the great composers.
I mean this isn't exactly the megadeth of the early 90s but seriously guys they still played fucking well given the fact that youthful fire is gone. Whoever that dude playing the Friedman solos is he did a fucking amazing job.
Chris Broderick
+Agtronic That's Chris Broderick, one of the most badass guitarists of all time
They played very tight.
4:38 Wow, listen to Drover struggle with those fills! Menza could play them in his sleep..
its sucks haha
Menza>Drover
Askel Sæbø Is that you Nick?
Im not defending Drover, but that was just shitty drum triggering.
The technicality of the drumming is what makes this song a gem to most drummers, Drover doesn't deliver what the song requires, it's too bad Mustaine won't upgrade. I've been to 14 Megadeth concerts since 1990 and Drover always disappoints. Menza & Degrasso always kicked ass live.
I actually really like daves vocals here.
It’s dubbed.
@@hiwifi4898 Yeah, sadly.
3:05 I just love that part its sounds like some Chuck Schuldiner (Death) stuff right there...
It's in 5/4 time, definitely something Chuck would have utilized. What I like about Dave's incorpation of odd-time is that he doesn't try to be as technical as possible. He just writes what sounds good. I'm not alluding to Chuck overusing odd-time. Chuck was a brilliant player as well.
Rust in Peace is one of the greatest guitar albums of all time. Metallica doesn't even belong on the same stage as these guys.
There much more sophisticated then metallic
this basssound is incredibly.. this hole atmosphere they created without fancy instrumentations is just intense
When I saw Chris Broderick I was skeptical he would get all those Friedman solo's down...but he did a damn good job, kept them true to the original. Impresssive.
Kick Ass solo
u mean 6 or 7 solos lmaooo
Which one? Chris/Marty's solo number five or Dave's?
some problems in this version is :
1. Overdubbed vocals
2. Chris' tone
3. Shawn Drover
yeah, can't argue with that
dunno, but drover's drumkits and system sounded alright to me
drover and brodrick have no groove they play these song like robots
Judas priest and Maiden classic live albums are both overdubbed, so that's not saying much.
@Eddie The Head Lol Shawn Drover has no creativity in his entire body. Guy can't go off the path even if his life depended on it.
It's hard not to get dissapointed after watching a live concert and missing a lot of this such great songs like this one
One of their top songs, of my top favorite Megadeth album...in one of all time best metal productions.
Underrated this is a thrash classic. Thats why they are part of the big 4.
That bass groves still to this day
Ellefson's backing vocals are so awesome
one of the most underrated song of Megadeth
I agree. "Ashes In Your Mouth" and "Lucretia" are very underrated as well, in my opinion.
that is fuckin awesome! killer solo at the end! dave, cool as ice!
Dave Mustaine... The. Greatest. Musician. In History. Enough said.
THAT RUST IN PEACE GUITAR!!!!!!!!!
MUST HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m an avid fan of both Megadeth and Metallica but it is beyond baffling how anyone could claim that Metallica is the better band.
Just diffrent music tastes?
Ride the lightning was better than megadeth's first 3 albums. But tornado of souls is better than anything Metallica ever did
So damn talented
That was a pretty tight live performance considering that album was out 21 years at the time!
This song should be played in every concert!!!!!they played it perfectly here!!!
This is a bad-ass song! I think this whole album is amazing! It amazes me the riffs that Dave writes. I love the Dystopia album as well.
The baseline and drums in sync is hypnotic
😱32 years of listening to this band and they still blow me away!!!
About the same for me... and I'm still in the eye of the tornado!
@@eccehomer8182 although looking back it’s still a bit fuzzy😄
This may not be the "best" metal song ever, but it is almost perfect:
1) Thrashy opening to get your attention
2) Moody build up with lots of contrasts: hard/soft, fast/slow
3) Great topic and opening line:A magician's apprentice saying: Bestow upon me knowledge, wizard, all-knowing, all-wise"
4) Awesome, jazzy interlude with psycho drums and guitar parts.
5) Amazing climax with a chant-able chorus.
6) Use of "Olde Englsihe" grammar: "magic" ir rarely used in the plural form in modern American English.
7) Just a carnivorous riff throughout that really gallops along.
8) and finall, a return to the opening motif, higher and higher.
Like I said, just about the perfect metal song...
my new favorite MD song
A unique living legend! + 40 years of excellence and counting..⚡🔥
Junior killed it with his singing and his kick ass bass!!! MEGADETH RULES FOR LIFE
El mejor tema de Megadeth, para mi, el mejor
My favorite Megadeth song, what a total masterpiece
I was at that show 🤘🏼 Testament played their entire The Legacy album and Exodus did Bonded by blood. Best 50 bucks I ever spent.
My favorite Megadeth song... Top 5 favorite all time in metal.
Si
This is my first Megadeth song.
Bro, it is FANTASTIC !!
Generex 251 Sit down and let me tell you a story. Actually, I'll let the music do it. Just listen to more of their stuff. I happen to like this song a lot but they have much better songs you're missing out on.
My favorite megaD song for sure. Wild ride
Favorite Megadeth song👹
Best album ever.
Wow all i can say is amazing Megadeth is by far the best band ever
one of my favorite songs
My fav Megadeth song, everything in it just falls right into place and it works.
essa voz grave do dave ellefson é sensacional
Matheus Santana bem que ele poderia ser o vocalista pelo menos uma vez
4:21 David Sure has a deep voice
So absolutely awesome
If I were to point to a megadeth song and claim it’s my favorite, five magics would probably be it
One of their best performances ever! Truly astonishing energy and musical prowess.
It’s dubbed lol.
@@hiwifi4898 what's the proof that it is?
@@aminostruth3494 You can see that Dave’s lips don’t match the words at times.
@@hiwifi4898 I'll watch again. Disappointing if it is the case.
BOOOOOMMMMM AN OUTRO
Love this song
The solo is way ahead of its time and out of this world, love it.
this is metal
It’s such a shame that this song didn’t become a staple in their set list
Does it have to do with daves religious bs
Just amazing
Amazing!!!
Since writing this song, Dave has mastered the Sixth Magic: Lipsyncery.
Marcus Blackfellow oh no u dint, no u dint, ....yeah u did!! ha ha ha
HA HA!! YEAH RIGHT lmfao!!
I dont think hes lipsyncing, I think they doctored it up when they mastered the sound for the dvd.
That has been done by the likes of Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford though. LAD and Unleashed in the east are prime example. Yet still considered as classic live albums.
Megadeth never Lipsync or use auto tune, these guys re punks . they are Re-dubbed,most of their live albums are re-dubbed. San Diego live ? his voice was flawless,it was re dubbed too.most Metal bands do it .
hail megadeth
amazing Chris, amazing vocals too
Great job. 🤩
2:29 Hirajoshi Scale !! :D
YEAH!!That's an important way to sound like marty
5:10 MUSTAINE IS A METAL GOD
What an amazing, brilliant song.
One of the best Megadeth songs.
Fucking badass song and excellent perfomance!
unfortunately they never played this song when Marty and Nick was in the band :(
heavymetal9404 Yes they did but it was a soundcheck
LP D'A yes, but without dave :(
awesome
You have had me in stitches
The best of this album ❣ this song and the art illustration cover
Easily one of the best songs ever written. In any genre. Period.
Amen brotha!
that's just awesome
Top class performance. Every time I hear the word wyvern (which isn't often) or the phrase vestal virgins I start singing this song in my head. So Procol Harum's song Whiter Shade of Pale always leads me to thinking of 5 Magics.
4:58 my favorite lead
Ese solo se escucho desde marte..xd
3:30 when Dave starts to sing, Chris isn't even picking the notes on the guitar and we her like he was playing it. Probably dubbed.
dave played that riff?
only dave’s vocals are overdubbed
Yep. Check through the headphones. Definitely overdubbed.
Masterpiece
Not the same without Nick & Marty.
That video of those 3 doin sound check back in the early 90's,!?!
3 MAGICIANS!!
My only words...Freaking awesome Metal forever!!!
When i think that ever heard everything from Megadeth i surprise myself. They are a legend!
Me voló la cabeza en vivo en Buenos Aires Argentina !!
Gotta have Nick standing up smashin them symbols!!.
RIP Nick Menza.
Best Metal Band EVER
That was prefect, spot on tone...
Awesome!
lmao at 4:38 when he screws up the drum fill and dave just turns back in disgust... classic
The drum fill is literally pennible
Dave is such a great musician holy shit, can't believe he can sing and do this awesome shit at the same time...flawless
Holy shit, I got sweaty just listening to this magical song.
