It's a great idea to use it or a self propelled Kirby before a shampoo. With the self propelled feature you won't use up so much of your own energy before you then need to begin shampooing. This machine lasted me twelve great years performing daily cleaning six days per week on my former rugs and carpets. On Mondays I always use a canister vacuum. After my Kirby this is my second favorite upright that I've ever owned. My third place was a Eureka VictoryVac Powerline. Yes this machine was almost a Kirby in many respects including a feeling of robust build quality along with superfluous performance. This and my Mighty Mite on my floors served very well as daily drivers. Thanks for the video Roger.
My grandma had this vacuum and I loved it. So much in fact she left it to me in her will when I was a kid. By the time she passed away two years ago, they no longer had it and had changed the will.
THAT'S IT! That's the exact machine that I had! YIPPIE! Congratulations Roger! Enjoy! This is one of my favorites that I've ever had. Built like a truck.
One of Hoover’s best designs - and I think the top-rated upright in Consumer Reports tests in the mid-1980’s. She needs her “eyes”, Roger! Once you get the 2 bulbs in place, then you’ll really experience the full Hoover show. Love the subtle labelling of that era - nothing garish or outrageous. The font was very much in use by Hoover at the time...Handel Gothic I think it was called. Oh, those were the days of proud American industry.
I love mine! Purchased when pregnant in 1989 and it’s a workhorse. I have other expensive vacuums but I will never relinquish this one as they just a don’t make things like they use to!
I ordered the same exact vacuum and it arrived . my mom used to have it when I was a kid . It arrived today and the seller packed it extremely well ! It works great even the powerdrive ! It came with bags but I installed a Hoover allergy bag type A . It is loud as I remember !! Congrats on yours Roger :)
I have one of these and just found out I need a new agitator belt but there are no more vacuum stores in my area (Placerville, CA) so I dropped in to check out your video. It was extremely helpful and I will now get to finding replacement parts including a new agitator on the inter web. ;) HaHa Thanx
I got one of these today at a local thrift shop for $16. After giving it a good cleaning, replacing the belt, the light bulbs and the bag, it works like new. The one I have has the cord rewind and power drive. The model number is U3105. I'm guessing it was made in 1978 or 79.
So love these machines. One of the best hoover ever made. Such a shame they were so expensive here in the uk. They did not have a very long sales run here at all. Most people were still buying juniors and seniors. Heartbreaking really. Roger if you ever want to swap I have a black twin chamber windtunnel I had shipped over. From new I think it’s had about 3 hours use it’s also self propelled
I bought one of these for $15 at the 2nd hand store about 2 months ago. Tried it at the store, and it seemed to run & sound good, so I bought it. I haven't gotten a chance to use it here in the house yet. But I'm looking forward to it. I just got done throwing out 2 different Hoover Dialamatic powerdrive model vacuum cleaners the other day. The blue one smelled like burning popcorn & made the smoke alarm go off when i would use it. The taupe- beige colored one sounded rough when i would turn it on. So out they went... 😕😣
I just picked one of these up at a thrift store and it had a snapped belt but is in really good condition it also has the cord rewind and is red. But unfortunately the fan is bad on it making it sound like a siren.
my mother had a kenmore similar to this in 93 but no power drive and but had the retractable cord. it was always in sears but my mom was always clogging up the vacuums.
i had one of these in green with rewind cord best thing ever i used to use it as my daily driver but mine had a power switch on the back of the medel handle it worked good but i killed the motor
I just got this exact cleaner from eBay. (I had one for ten years that was left in our home when we bought it that just died.) One question maybe you could help with, the clear plastic chamber that directs the dirt up into the bag will not stay closed. I have removed the undercover and pressed it down til it seems firm. When I begin to vacuum, it pops out and open again, making the wheel on that side come off the floor. Otherwise, it is clean and has a strong motor. Any thoughts much appreciated.
@@ibaisaic thank you so much! You are right, and after watching your videos 20 times, I was able to engage those 2 little clips that are by the underside wheels. Now the base plate is secure and holds it in place. The cleaner works 👍 fine, and I am much appreciative for your response and your videos. Also, I am curious why you have so many vacuum cleaners! Thank you!!
I have the exact same concept one but mine doesn't have the headlight lense and a different colored handle. To the best of my knowledge the concept one I have it is fast when the power drive is on and I am don't really like to have it on, I would rather build up some muscle, I would rather use it on a Kirby.
Hi can anyone advise me please if i obtain an american vacuum cleaner or european cleaner will the work if i use a travel plug adaptor ? or do i need to get a bigger adaptor ? thanks - ps great vid roger love this channel
Dan Pitt Hi, if you are in Europe or UK you will need a step-down transformer rated above the wattage of the motor of the US vacuum you want to use. These are available from Electrical supply shops and also Amazon. Do not use a US vacuum in the UK or Europe with a travel adapter, it will blow the motor. European vacuums will work in the uk with only a plug adapter as the voltage is close to that in the UK.
I'll do a public vote for the last vacuum of the month in December and include this Concept One. I should have the new power drive belts and light bulbs by then.
Actually, it was May, 1990. On Hoovers made between 1987 and 2007, the first four digits of the serial number represent the month and year a given production sample was made.
My mom had one when I was little ! It sounds perfect ! Just like I remember . It’s in great condition too !!
Goodness me! I caught this one early! Wrapped in blankets and ready for my favourite sort of videos. Vintage Vacuum Unboxings!!!!!!

My grandma's had cord rewind and also some sort of diamond emblem on the front blue panel.

I have a couple of bulbs on the way from the USA as I wasn’t sure I could use the UK voltage bulbs in this machine.
Glad you imported this ! This is one of the best vacuum Hoover ever made !
Performance Reviews hell yea. I want one so bad.

When I first saw the thumbnail it looked like one of those bagged vacuums with the bag inside behind a door

Roger I love seeing you face and now I want get to see it today 😔😢😭 love the vacuum you showed today
Love the dogs and one posing on camera 📷

We have a blue deluxe version. I love the auto cord windup. Unfortunately ours went into power surge and I have yet to be able to get it out. :/
I just picked one of these up at a thrift store and it had a snapped belt but is in really good condition it also has the cord rewind and is red. But unfortunately the fan is bad on it making it sound like a siren.
Excellent agitation😍👌
Question for Roger how many concept one models in the collection and are you planning to get good video by the way
The white powder is most likely carpet fresh powder. It can cause problems with the motor but yours sounds fine still.
do you know how to remove the handle? i tried removing the two screws but i still can't get it off.
my mother had a kenmore similar to this in 93 but no power drive and but had the retractable cord. it was always in sears but my mom was always clogging up the vacuums.
A Bissell 3031120 belt will also work in the Concept One vacuum if you can't find the correct Hoover belt.
when hoover made great products!
What's the best corfmes en normal vacuum to buy can you do top picks in each category?
i had one of these in green with rewind cord best thing ever i used to use it as my daily driver but mine had a power switch on the back of the medel handle it worked good but i killed the motor
I feel bad for you.
Thought I could smell burning in this video. Must have been that McDonald's. Nothing like good old hoovers.nice concept.
No, the burning smell was left over from the Miele explosion.
Excellent concept one! Even tho it has a bent axle. its in pretty nice condition. Hope you fix the axle soon.
And yes these concepts do sound like that.

If the base plate is positioned properly I can’t see why the suction duct keeps popping out.

I had an all blue version I only used it once. I don't have it anymore.
Yes this a great vacuum cleaner

I like it mate
I have the aame style hoover only with the cord rewind
“SALT THE FRIESSSSSS 🍟 “
This Carpet agitation that's better than Riccar!
Hoover is the best
It is interesting to see how one works after watching a video of it sucking up water and getting hit with a golf club
I tend to respect my things and not destroy them.
These days when Hoovers was good....
Vacuums back. Then were built very good now they are like "here's a good vacuum that NEVER LOSES SUCTION" cheap plastic
Just like fitting a dyson dc07 belt. With a clutch

Please make this vacuum of the month for November or December.

have you heard of Red Robin? its an American burger place
No, as a vegan I don’t take much notice of restaurants selling meat.
The cord is original i know that plug look but in black :)
These bats are good.
They don’t cause disease
I have the same vacuum
I think that your machine might have been built in 05/92.
Actually, it was May, 1990. On Hoovers made between 1987 and 2007, the first four digits of the serial number represent the month and year a given production sample was made.
That's about when I bought mine.
@@raymondcarter2772 The serial number on mine is 00003385 -- does that mean made in 1985? In any case, great performer, even with dog hair.
I look like Rudolf too however I'm a 14 year old bloke
You made me giggle on this video a couple of times. Very dry
the new plug really decreases the value
That’s OK because I’m not selling it.
@@ibaisaic good
