Lyrics:
Here I am
Just like I said I would be
I'm your friend
Just like you think it should be
Did you think I would stand here and lie
As our moment was passing us by
Oh I am here
Waiting for your change of heart
It just takes a beat
To turn it around
Yes I'm waiting for your change of heart
At the edge of my seat
Please turn it around
Days go by
Leaving me with a hunger
I could fly
Back to when we were younger
When adventures like cars we would ride
And the years lied ahead still untried
While I stand here
Waiting for your change of heart
She is just a great example for anyone...herself. unique, classy. Just an awesome person. Her music was more creative and intelligent than many others. Love this song especially.
This is my favorite all time Cyndi Lauper song. She deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I have had a crush on her since I was a kid. Now I'm in my mid 50's and I still love her 💯❣️
She ´s amazing
She is my top FEMALE ARTIST EVER❤💖🤩👌
While everyone was loving Madonna I was into Cyndi.
It flopped
@@pattyskiss2me1 you and me both... still am!
Her songs aged well...she was way ahead of her time and thus not taken too seriously as a vocalist. These songs would still chart to this day. A talented singer and a beautiful soul
Hey 👋
This song is not only The Best of Cindy, it is The Best of the 80’s, criminally underrated. I recorded it back then in Cassette, 1985 or 86. UNIQUE! Thank You Cindy, it’s been more than 23 years without listening to this 💎 gem. Tears and full attention to see this video for the first time. You were better than Madonna
100% right on the money. Call the "underrated song" police 'cause we got an all-timer classic that somehow seems forgotten and overlooked. But not by all, this one is on heavy rotation in my house on this fabulous Friday :-)
I agree on it being underrated. I thought for sure it would go #1 but it stalled at #3 in Feb, 1987. Love the song and melody.
You're right about Cyndi, but in the 80's when I went through basic training, all I heard over the radio was Madonna, she was about the best I've heard at the time, but when I got stationed in Germany in 1983, I thought where was Cyndi when I was going through basic, because I immediately fell in love with Cyndi after hearing her sing. I don't think one is better than the other, because they both sing different styles of music. Just my opinion, they are both at the top of my list for listening to.
Mucho mejor que Madonna💓
So underrated …. To the point of insulting . It actually angers me . She is HALL OF FAME material.
Honestly..... Cyndi had a great voice when she wanted to be more serious. I really think some critics underrated her vocal talents because sometimes she did quirky light hearted stuff like "girls just wanna have fun" but songs like this showcased more range and how naturally talented she was. I loved her then, still do now. On top of everything else I always thought she was so cute and adorable!
Yes Cyndi Lauper is Cute and Adoreable as well as Talented.😊💝😊💝😊
And she still is!
She was just overshadowed by Madonna back in that time, thats what my mom said at least xD
So so true
I think if Cyndi had come before or long after the Madonna Era, she would be a greater sensation.
Unfortunately , she was always under the shadow of the greater Madonna!
Her passion is amazing! Her body language is I don’t care what you think about me! That is true freedom just being yourself. Cyndi’s interviews are same, I’m going to do and be who I am and what I want. We’ve lost this in society.
The 80s were cool, nothing has or will eveer come close. No internet, no mobile phones, just fun.
The outfits. The dance moves. THAT VOICE! Only one Cyndi
She deserves to be inducted into the Rock hall of fame.
not just that but also in the wrestling hall of fame. not the fucking wwe hall of fame, that is a fucking sham. after all, they have our former dictator in the hall and he got BOOED during his induction.
No she doesn’t ...indeed she deserves what she’s been through right now on her life. She’s purely the contrary of the word banger
@@thevoid99 Not former, Biden is still in office, you leftist fool!
Think she's more pop
@@rayjohnson2387,
If you think #CyndiLauper is more POP than Rock Music, let’s kick EVERYONE ELSE out who is Pop Music. There’s a lot of people who accomplished the right to be in the #HOF! Deservely so!
What a fantastic song. All about it is great. The lyrics with that line "... I could fly back to where we were younger, and adventures like cars we would ride and the years lie ahead still untried..."... The music. The Bangles as background vocals. And Cyndi Lauper with her 4 octaves range in her prime... I was in college. 34 years have gone. I still love it.
I didn't know The Bangles sang background on this! Thanks for teaching me something new about my favorite music. If you want to make me cry, like a boohoo baby, just play a Cyndi song.
@@ThisGuy76 Yes! They're also in the Goonies video!
It's 2022 and Cyndi Lauper is still in her vocal prime.

Essra Mohawk, eclectic singer and prolific songwriter, has died at 75
She wrote more than 600 songs, including Cyndi Lauper’s 1986 hit “Change of Heart,” and said in 1988: “I try to write songs which encourage people to continue, not give up.” Rest in Peace.
I HAD NO IDEA this video existed.
She looks BEAUTIFUL in this video, and I love Cyndi, she was just freaking crazy when she was young ahah, she was pure energy.
Do those people realize how LUCKY they are, witnessing that filming?!
❤
Cyndi is AMAZING, one of the best pop/rock vocalists we've ever been graced with on Earth
In my opinion, this is the single that showcased Cyndi Lauper's diversity. It has elements of Rock, Synthpop, and striking keyboard moments.
+Alexander The Great -- Totally agree with you. This and her cover of "I drove all night" were both underrated. I love both of those ones.
+Jenifer L. That subject is funny. It being a cover. It's funny cause it was released by her first. Even though it was recorded by and intended for Roy first. And it being a cover released before the original. So strange lol.
+Paul Snyder II ,you nailed that one & so many have no clue!
+Jenifer Mattock Drove All Night!
Boy the 80s were magic, last great musical era
I remember in college (Ahhh,... fun times!.. 😌) I was taking a music appreciation course, and we studied Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Duke Ellington, and... Cyndi Lauper.
Wait!... What?... Cyndi Lauper???!!!...
Yeah!... Cyndi Lauper!...
Not Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, or any of the other 100,000+ other "Pop-Stars" that are out there. ...
We studied... Cyndi Lauper!...
Because, not only did she have an incredible vocal range,... but she wrote and produced practically all her music!...
Such an incredibly talented woman!... 😊
Her music was before my time,... hence I had to go back, and research her music (listen to)!...
And, because of that exposure that I had to her music,... I became a HUGE fan of her's!... 😊
After so many years, this song still touches my heart, listen to the song my tears rolling down. She is always my legend.
A minha também ❤ amo as música dela
Mine too. Her music helped shape the person I am now
Fun Fact: Cyndi's labelmates at CBS/Arista records were The Bangles, who you can hear singing backup on this song. Neat!
The style's of 80's ICONIQUE 🤩
One of the greatest original geniuses of American music; her songs are so different from each other it's like she was 3 or 4 different people.
Great song - Cyndi really delivers! Sadly, the writer, Essra Mohawk passed away in Dec. 2023. Chic's Nile Rodgers played guitar and the Bangles sang backup. Wow~
When people truly walked to beat of their own drum AND we loved them for it.
I remember. What happened to those days??
Exactly. Individuality is merely a thing of the past. And remember when pop stars were supposed to be just that, individuals because that's the whole point of inspiring. Pop stars these days look like every other bland person on the street with nothing slightly interesting about them.
@@ronderulijkummar7453 Unfortunately gone, and probably forever.
I'm still walking to mine and unashamedly so..
Amen🤘🏻
how admirable , full of courage standing there for herself and boasting all the life she can transmit. How strong Cindy Lauper is ... what an amazing, beautiful, unstoppable little doll!
The older I get, the more this song resonates with me. Probably because it's about waiting for someone from your long past to come back. I'll probably be waiting for the rest of my days...but this song comforts me while i'm doing it.
Same!
Same
Same here. I used to mouth the words\ when I would see him and his skank girlfriend at a club together. He'd see me and know I was singing it to him. LOL. He wanted to marry her and she strung him along until one day, she told him she was going off to college. He found out she moved in with another guy a couple of cities away. Karma is a bi+&h..
Happy Birthday, Cyndi! Thank you for being a phenomenal woman and gifted musician!!

Great musical artist
she had one of the most underrated voices... it was actually quite beautiful and powerful when it needed to be. Love this song...love Cyndi ... her style ... she was sooooo cute! Truly one of the icons that defined the 80's
Had? She still has that amazing voice! And she's still cute!
+Screaming Mimi's man, I don't know if they edited their comment, but this person is praising her for what her talent was, using past tense. And of course, most people's talent is lost as they age. Give her a break. I've been on UA-cam the past hour watching some videos on cyndi and you never fail to be in the comments bashing her for not being what she was in the 80s. I get you are let down, but this happens to a lot of people.
+Screaming Mimi's my bad, I thought you were replying to the original comment, not Ryan. As someone born in the 90s I'm jealous you got to see her back then. Must have been a fun time to be in the middle of that decade.
+Screaming Mimi's Nice (: I will keep in mind to get some kind of video recorder with decent quality to bring to a few concerts in my time for the future to have based on this conversation as it really is important. I won't be taking any cheap cell phone videos either :P
You can find video for her Live in Paris special. She sounded amazing in that concert.
The good old days when there was no Rihanna, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, or Justin Bieber.
I'm not a huge supporter of all those you named but I think it's safe to say that Cyndi could have possibly influenced them to some degree.
L. Hill I think your right.

Yep! I was born in 2000 but that weren't popular I love songs from back in the 1900 love her!
No arguments from me!
How can 2.1 K people dislike this song? I have loved Cyndi for 35 years. She's truly beautiful when she sings. Her look is so original.
Some of her songs haven't aged well but they ares the ones I like the most
RIP to songwriter Essra Mohawk. What an incredible woman and impressive, varied career. So much more than just her Schoolhouse Rock songs!
This is what the world needs to hear now.
i was lucky enough to live this incredible decade. I wish i could go back and stay there. I wish i had a time machine....
Btw this song is epic...
Glorious Mustard wow
Tell me about it. The 80's were beautiful! I would love to go back to that time and breath the air and feel that atmosphere.
I was born and grew up in the 90s which means that I heard a lot of popular 80s music in that time. Always been nostalgic for this decade that I've never lived through. You're lucky you did!
The 80s were magical. Was lucky enough to be born May 1980 so I lived, felt and experienced this MAGICAL decade and she carried the 80s. Believe it or not, the world was more unified back then despite what history teaches.
I can say that most of the latest songs now are less artistic

My all time favorite song by Cyndi. The first time I heard it was at a concert back in January of 1987. It was close to the stage and hearing her sing it live, for the first time was amazing. I love her. She is amazing.💞💞💞💞
Cindy had a powerful voice. Brings me back to the 1980's when i was a teen. Great time to be a kid, Sigh! Wish i had a time Machine.
Cyndi just throws herself into this song. I loved it back in the 80s, but never had cable or regular access to music videos back then. I never saw the video until recently, and she put even more into the video! Amazing.
3 percussionists and a entire all-female rock band providing back-up vocals. What extravagance!
Decades ahead of her time!
Cyndi just pours her heart out into this song. Really ripens the lyrics with palpable emotion , you can especially feel it in the chorus.
absolutely yes.....she lives her music, she is real and, following her voice singing the lyrics, you feel how much effort she puts in every line, every word....she is born to sing, period
she still looked like a crack pipe compared to Madonna

Love this song. One of Top 3 of Cyndi's hit for me!!! Lyrics are always relatable. Its funny how Kate Bush's "Running up that hill" has reach the top charts again in 2023 and I believe this could be a huge possibility for Cyndi Lauper presently or in the near future. This song is definitely part of my life's soundtracks. Much love to this icon!!

love this song, why is this song ignored by the radio stations, this song went #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and it should get timeless airplay
It's interesting to see how many hits of the past are currently ignored by mainstream radio stations. It's like only a handful of hits were selected for recurrent airplay. That's what makes a radio station's playlist stale, in my opinion, and why many people have opted for streaming services, including online radio, instead.
This song was a top 5 hit? I grew up in the 80s and don't remember ever hearing it...good tune though.
It's from her 2nd album.

Daniel Sahlén wonder why she isn't still recording music?
She is new recording music. She released a Country/Folk album in 2016 called "Detours". Listen to that. Its very different from what she released in the past, but its still great music. She just records new music in different genres now, and not the pop/rock music she recorded back in the day. She also released "Memphis Blues" in 2010, which was an album of jazz and Blues songs. :)
+Patty Moore She wrote the entire Tony winning score of Kinky Boots! :D It's Amazing! Check it out! ;)

Cyndi deveria ter sido a rainha do Pop porque ela foi a pioneira no pop mundial, não tem comparação, pra época ela revolucinou, mas a Madona pegou carona nisso.
