That woman knows how to perform... it's The time where were artists that actually could name themselves an artist. I love how she's being crazy on stage. Brilliant.
Cyndi Lauper was the real deal and a pioneer. THE BEST THING ABOUT the early half of the 80’s, was that almost everything that came out was something that had never been done before pretty much! From 1977 on, we started walking on a whole new planet. Now it kind of seems that pretty much every song that will ever be has already been written, then just rearranged a little, put through a blender, autotuned, canned and fed to the newest crowd, (and often have recorded vocal tracks running at live performances just in case the singer’s voice gets a little tired and or they do not have the mind/muscle memory to feel if they are in tune and following the right timing ). And some people in the newest generations cannot even comprehend that it really is true… Music happened just like it sounds. And often done in studio sessions with everybody playing together at once or recorded raw and literally actually done in one take sometimes just a couple years before this came out. (Fleetwood Mac, Queen…) The technology literally did not exist to let bands and singers to sort of, totally “CHEAT”. You did not get more than like a few tracks to layer, there was no digital technology mainstream yet. (Obviously I resent Autotune for cheapening music as an art). ~~> Music
I partially disagree with the autotune statement, I think it has its place as an effect in music but not as a cheat to use because you can't sing in the first place. Also I like sampling in my music, because I use it as a tribute to the music I love not because I can't play instruments. (I'm a drummer, sax, synth, bass player)

If I had to choose between Madonna and Cyndi, which is a tough one, I would always go with Cyndi. And while Madonna can be a perfectionist, very disciplined, and put on world-class shows (something very remarkable, indeed), Cindy is 1,000% attitude, spontaneity, and she has the energy to light up the Sun. Respect.

The hug wasn’t as spontaneous as it appears. It was fellow singer “Martika” giving her a hug. If it was a regular fan like us, we probably would have been pummeled.
This song was Originally released in 1978, by Tom Gray. The song was popularized in 1984 by Cyndi Lauper, and still slaps harder then most songs nowadays. Cheers from Australia.

During that era Madonna dominated the airwaves with great music but really Cyndi lauper transcended the era more genuinely. Even with the fraction of songs and airplay looking back she was more an icon with the era without the pop of Madonna. Just more genuine from the heart than The unbelievable production of Madonna's extraordinary pop music status. Madonna was the gold standard of that time and rightfully so however Cyndi cemented her own standard without any bias of media influence honestly. It just seemed Cyndi was able to be more from the heart.
Unbelievible energy! Cyndi really got it! It's amazing to see that kind of spirit and passion. In that time,10 october 1984, I was 8 year old and other side of the world...If I could travel time and choose only one place and time...I would be there. In the front row! 😊❤

Cyndi Lauper is just amazing in this video because she's at full bore vocally and physically the entire song - and this is just one song in a concert! I'm sure this was a maximum effort for the video but I have no doubt she had the energy and stamina to stay at this level for the whole show.....
Yep full energy the entire time. I saw her last summer at he PNE and she was giving it all. Incredible performance!
this video is from a concert in houston texas 1984,and the whole concert is here on youtube audio only, and it is a fantastic concert. I listen to it all the time.
I Concur
I've seen her in concert she gives everything to her audience just amazing I even got to hold her hand on the Boston Commons just amazing don't think I washed my hand for a month ...Cyndi Lauper is the Queen in my eyes ...amazing!!
True but I'm just wondering what drug that they were all on? That's some craziness! BTW, this was my music era and 80's was the bomb but that's wild lol
Travel to a time that will never come back, I miss that time. nostalgic 80s
I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for coming into this world
Tremendo ..
Most fantastic phenomenal rock performance from a true rock n roll singer, thank you God for letting us have the greatness of Miss Cyndi Lauper, letting us know her and see her, such a true talent, Amen
Sad thought for the day... WE will never see the 80s again, what a great time it was in our lives.
bill thompson I didn’t appreciate those days then....... I do now. B4 cell phones n social media. Much more innocent times. I graduated in 89’. Last of the lost 80’s.
Loved the 80's
Is it me or did you notice completely changed so much from 1989 to 1990? I felt like all the great 80’s artists just disappeared when 1990 came around. 1990 brought a new, different flashy sound but it was not the same. Indeed its never been the same since the 80’s.
Absolutely 1000%!!!!
Love the 80tys
2023 and I am still listening to this!
2024!
And far beyond.
You can't get any more 80's than this... 😎❤️
WOW! She is a National Treasure! Love this woman! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
An incredible talent. How brave to get in the garbage can, no safety harness, so glad see didn’t fall out.
She is still incredible and a lovely human being.
Amen❤
Her voice still gives me goosebumps .
2023 & She's Still My #1 Muse.
Cindy. La. Mejor
Goosebumps for days
Simply the best. Thanks God for that kind of real art...
A fan embraces her tenderly..love it.
These lyrics speak truth “everybody’s only looking out for themselves “
Esta mujer canta con el alma

Que música maravilhosa. Eu não me canso de ouvir.
Obrigado Cindy
É sim.
Maravilhosa essa mulher
Parece a entrada de exagerado do cazuza

If I only had a Time Machine !!!
Those are our parents/grandparents performing 🎭 and in the audience!!!!
They had fun. No Facebooks. No Cell phones.... living the moment.
Wow 🥰😄
Cyndi Lauper even with bein' 62 now I'd still go for you! Love you so damn much!
Yeah,I love Cyndi Lauper too(I´m not a lesbian)...sorry.She is so great punky.....and her Song:Money changes everything :I can remember in the 80s when I had this great song on cassette ;-D
+Daniela Schwarz okay....we don't care if you are a lesbian or not as long as you love Cyndi Lauper....I can care less!!!
+Gold Davis Nice one,and I don´t care if you are a lesbian or not,we are all the same and I love Cyndi Lauper.I was 12 in 1984 and I couldn´t stop dance ;-D
+CureMorrisseyCerati GahanHetfield80's Yeah 80s forever and it doesn´t matter if you are a lesbian, hey we love Cyndi Lauper that is so right from Gold Davis and now we listen to that fu**ing great Song ;-D
Daniela Schwarz yes well I am bisexual but aaaww you are so sweet I love you I wish everyone like you!!! As long we both love Cyndi Lauper you must be a fan like me!!!
Incredible! Sounds just as good live as it does on the album!
Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think she was able to sing this even better later on in her carreer. Search out her performances of it from the mid 90s to 2010s. She absolutely slays it.
No
A performer that I really admire. She manages to maintain the intensity over the decades. Still a major talent, would definitely pay to see her perform. Wow.
You definitely need to see her perform live. I have seen her countless times and never once was there a bad performance.
Blows away anything Madonna has done. Have loved this song since the first time I heard it.
Cyndi has a God Given Voice such range no comparison 💗💕
I am so sick of people trying to compare them! Get over it! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Cyndi was signed to Atlantic to end Madonna but we all saw how their careers went. It wasn’t cyndis fault they used many female pop stars against Madonna and none of them stood the test of time she did. Madonna writes her own stuff this is a cover
that’s Tina Turner
Alx rose
hay varias Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt,Joan Jett, Ann y Nancy Wilson,Lita Ford, Cindy también es increíble
Respect.
There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them
Mate iv seen my last lives. How else do I see these dream like visions in my mind
Right there with you, friend.
Definitely 80's is the best.
Can u recommend me more song with this vibe??
Gives me goosebumps too. Cyndi is so underrated.
Salu2
Ah those were the days. When a fan could run onto the stage without getting crash tackled by security.
I love that Cyndi hugged her and the security guard smiled as he led her offstage ❤️ respectful
The hug wasn’t as spontaneous as it appears. It was fellow singer “Martika” giving her a hug. If it was a regular fan like us, we probably would have been pummeled.
@@MrSpilleta never knew that was Martika.
A anvisa que ajuda eu desmacaro esses venenos halopaticos
Yeah, but fans were different then, too....
This song was Originally released in 1978, by Tom Gray. The song was popularized in 1984 by Cyndi Lauper, and still slaps harder then most songs nowadays. Cheers from Australia.
She definitely knew how to pick great songs to cover.
Best voice from the 80's. Remarks for this new generation: Once upon a time, singers knew it how sing live.
Singing live? Is there any other way to sing?
Your either a singer or your not. One can be excused if they have a cold or vocal damage for resting their voices
Grandiosa Cindy!!! Cuanta energía!! Sin perder la voz 😱 idola 💖
It's time to listen to some music that makes me feel some shit I've bene hiding from. This album is where I ended up.
Love Cindy since day one. Always will. Well put, musical Royalty. Far ahead of her time.
Cyndi Lauper FELLS the music, she songs, she dance, she does everything.
She is incredible, she is Magic!!
She is so good live. QUEEN OF ROCK!!!
She's so unusual.
The truest words ever spoken.
Brutal....de lujo...lloro con sus temas
This lady has hit after hit wow extremely underrated music nowadays is complete garbage

2019 and still the best performance ever!
Linda cindy
In 2020 too
Unbelievible energy! Cyndi really got it! It's amazing to see that kind of spirit and passion. In that time,10 october 1984, I was 8 year old and other side of the world...If I could travel time and choose only one place and time...I would be there. In the front row! 😊❤
Money still changes everything..2019...80s 💜💜💜💜
Cyndi Lauper should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!
Absolutely
