- This tutorial series is designed to help you go from Zero Hours in the Boeing 777 to having completed a full flight confidently covering all of the basics. It is designed to get you comfortable and confident with the jet without too much information overload - yet more than enough for you to complete your first full flight with ease.
After the first three episodes covering the basics of a full flight, we'll dig into other features too which you may wish to use - discussing various topics to build our understanding of the aircraft more.
The Route we used is as follows:
EGCC/23R SANB1R SANBA N859 HON HON1H EGLL/27L

I've also put together a free summarised checklist flightsim.to/file/76566/osprey-airways-pmdg-777-series-checklist
You're quite literally THE MAN!! I feel like I've learned to fly all the planes from my hanger from these tutorials! Absolutely the best
That's nice to hear Tango thanks!
As I expected. here is our awesome tutorial.
Once I was told that the NDAs lifted on Friday, I immediately said, "Good, that means British Avgeek will tell me how to fly the plane
😂 awesome, go download the checklist I've made too if it's any help
Thanks for making a series of tutorials. Can’t wait for the 77W tomorrow
Have fun!
It came out on the pmdg website for 335 million dollars
i'm ready for tomorrow - i'm at work, late shift, but ill by it as soon as i'm home. Thanks for the tutorial Luke
You'll be ready by the time the servers get back to work :D
It'll be sitting there waiting for you in the hangar mate!
they have really nailed that startup sound, ive travelled on this aircraft many many times and it sounds exactly like that. lots of reverberating sounds in the cabin from those massive engines
When the 777 became available and I downloaded it, the first thing I did was come to your channel hoping you that you made a tutorial for it and here we are! I learned the 737 through you because you explain it very well without being all over the place. I’m glad you made this, thank you again!
Eric that means a heck of a lot thank you!! ❤️
You are the King of instructor, very very good- THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for this. This video helped me to start drafting a checklist I can follow based on one I made for the 787 so I can hit the ground running when this bird drops. Hopefully tomorrow.
EDIT: It occurred to me that “hit the ground running” was probably a poor choice of words... heh.
Yeah you don't want to do that 😂😂😂 grab my free checklist here if it's any help - flightsim.to/file/76566/osprey-airways-pmdg-777-series-checklist
There's gonna be some packed airports with these beasts from tomorrow ;-) Great tutorial thank you good Sir. :-)
Bit of info, once you select engine start as soon as oil Px come online you chuck fuel straight in as its got autostart, so dont need to wait for 20% N2 as you would on a 737
Absolutely - great point! Thanks for the tip 😊
@@BritishAvgeek thanks for accepting my info, nice to see. Just a quick question will you be doing a more in-depth tutorial for the long haul routes?? Going into CPDLC etc??
@@BAboymr I will try to get round to it sure - that'll be a bit more tricky as it depends on having the right controllers online etc to showcase it all properly 😅 so it may be a struggle
@@BritishAvgeek yeh suppose CPDLC isnt used too much in the vatsim world compared to real life anway! Keep up the awesome videos anyway, always great content!!
The GE engines actually spool for 30 seconds before you see fuel flow. Select auto start on the overhead panel, rotate the appropriate engine knob to start and then immediately open the fuel control valve. FADEC will then spool for 30 seconds before you see fuel flow and then light up on the engine supplementary page. The engine should stabilise and the red ‘tick’ on the EGT should disappear by 60 seconds which denotes a good stable start. Same procedure for the other donk.
Thanks!
Thanks for the superthanks! Very kind!
Amazing tutorial, thank you so much. Also picked up the GSX utility. Very nice!
Thank you so much for the tutorials, Capt!😊
Thank you for making it simple, I was scared from those huge 5 hours videos.
Hey British! I already love to see that your starting a tutorial series! It's going to be really helpful to preparation for my first flight! Keep up the good work! ❤❤
You do not have to wait between placing the autostart sw to START for an engine start and placing the Fuel sw to RUN. Fuel sw goes to RUN immediately after placing sw to START. By the way, the fuel switch to RUN first activates the igniters in the engine, then introduces fuel for the start. You'll see a fuel flow indication first, then a rise in EGT. The EEC monitors the start, except for oil temperature and oil pressure, so need to keep an eye out on those during start and be ready to abort that engine start if there is no oil pressure after EGT rise.
The tablet performance data and input added to my knowledge. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for the tutorial series Luke! Really looking forward to getting the 777 tomorrow! 👍
Lifesaver! Thank you so much for doing this video. I just finished downloading the plane but wanted to make sure I could start it. Pretty much identical to the 787/747, which makes sense. Now to find out how to taxi this beast. Turning has always been a problem for me, I tend to run wide and end up doing some offroading. The 747 is a contender for the WRC, I think. Great suspension and wonderful power coming off the apex of turns. Also great for running over small planes.
Can you imagine being in a Cessna 172 and seeing a 777 or 747 behind you?! Anyway, thanks for the superb video, now to episode 2.
Too bad I can't subscribe again. Liked as always!
For those who are complaining about the engine sounds, we need to understand that this is just the pre-release, the release release may have the final tweaks and stuff and let’s remember this too, these guys at PMDG got recordings from a real 777-300er! You can easily tell they did especially working with 777 pilots! The pilots woulda said something by now about the sounds if it was inaccurate big time, I don’t see the sounds as a problem, they sound just fine and PMDG will ofc update it, they know what the community will say about it
Hey man.. Super helpful guide for me thanks :) my question is how do i find out the trans i need to use when im add what runway wanna land on
Informative - educational - to the point. WELL DONE! I am now a follower and a subscriber.
Thanks Michael, much appreciated hope you're enjoying the PMDG 777-300ER!
one of you big followers great series.
Great video ! I really like this 777,I have the A320 Fenix and 737 PMDG and my frames are pretty good almost 50 fps with all max to ultra but with this 777 start pretty good but sometimes i see my frames drop to 25 fps and is only with this airplane I think something is wrong
I won't have the money tomorrow, will have to wait until next week but I'm excited to get a head start.
It won't be going anywhere 🙂 it'll be ready whenever you are bud!
Out before Emi, love it. 😬
I'd had quite a few requests so stayed working away for quite a few hours to get them done 🫡
@@BritishAvgeek not mad at all. Great work.
I have a question about engine starts. In the tutorial it shows waiting for 20% N-1 before turning on fuel valve. In a FADEC auto start sequence the engine FADEC should not induce fuel prior to set N-1 parameters being met. Are these engines FADEC?
(FADEC “ Full Authority Digital Engine Control”. ) Great tutorial as always, Thanks for you content!!
@@geofferyshanen7758 hi Geoffrey - great question. The autostart function, if on, means you can just start engine 1 for example on the overhead panel and immediately turn the engine master switch to Run/On/Idle depending however you want to call it... Then repeat for engine 2.
Some airlines don't use Autostart however so in the tutorial I blended the two together (incase someone uses a livery with autostart off as a state function within the livery)
How do you get that screen in front of the cockpit with the flight info and stuff at 1:52
thanks man great video, very good explained. How did you get VDGS for EGCC?. Is that Maccosim scenery?
@@nibaldosoto6323 contrail.shop/EGCC for Manchester, yes MaccoSim and the VDGS is from GSX Pro with a custom profile
great video this has made my life so much easier lol, where can I get the auto docking system from please
it's GSX Pro :)
Unfortunately i have to wait one more week cause im boating arojnd finland. But im so excited!
Thanks for the tutorial. Could you confirm when we should switch off the APU after the engine start?
EDIT: nvm Saw the next video
How long do the aircraft batteries last? I, with very minimal knowledge, would have thought you would turn on the APU once things in the cockpit had come alight.
Can you tell me more about this, please?
@@keneagle7684 not too long, but that's why we use External Power - the ground power unit gets connected to the aircraft and we use ground power instead of battery power
Hi. Is it just me, or are there about 1000 more steps to get in the air with everything programmed VS in the airbus a320? It's so easy in the Airbus, to program the computer etc...
Thank you this workes really well
Time! During engine start-up my plane doesn't give me the N1, it stays at 0.0 until I put the fuel control on RUN. Why?
Awesome tutorial Luke, managed to get her in the air thanks to you😂
Great Tutorial,Thank You 👍
Awesome video! How do you pan the views so well? Mine are always ‘zoom out, zoom in’ and using the left mouse click to move around a central point. I’ve never understood how to pan the view properly (whilst not being in drone camera mode). Any help is super appreciated! Thanks 🙏🏽
I've got my thumb knob on my yoke set up for Translate View so when I'm inside the aircraft I can "walk about"
@@BritishAvgeek amazing - thank you for the tip. I’ll try that with my hat switch on my yoke too
I having issues with fuel, payload and route from simbrief, I don't get the payload or fuel from simbrief after loading simbrief route?
I get the auto ground ops which are taking hrs!
I need to change a setting somewhere I think it gets route but doing the ground ops in real time and looked insettings and cannot find where to change it.
The tablet only gives like the hr long short ground ops there no instant load pax, carg & fuel like the fbw tablet I'm used too - hmm
how do you enable the panel near the gate number plate it is so cool
it's GSX Pro for MSFS :)
MashAllah thank you for the tutorial. I'm able to program FMC and start up the plane without using the tutorial now.
Will this cold & dark to engine start will also applies to later PMDG B777 variants like the B777-200ER, B777-200LR & the B777 Frieghter?
Absolutely, yes - the process will be basically the same 🙂
Is there a joystick that you can use out of the box that works with these aircraft? I have the Thrustmaster TCA with Throttle Quadrant and can’t get it to work with the B777. I also have the Thrustmaster HOTAS One and again I can’t get the throttles to work. It’s frustrating as!
The engine sound of a 777 taking off has nothing to do with reality. It's like two different engine sounds are heard. P3d had better sounds. I hope they fix this problem.
I agree sadly
What engines did they model GE or RR?
@@AJ-yw5zy GE90
@@AJ-yw5zy the legendary GE … immersion breaker
I don’t understand how people can judge the sound, from a youtube video, that is compressed with all kinds of algorithms?? Also, the sounds will be very different, from system to system.
Hi does this mod have automatic aircraft states like, ready for taxing, ready for flight and so on on the tablet like fly by wire mod have it?
sorry if off topic but how to enable in GSX those sign where you check what parking lot you are ?
I have a Nav Data subscription and did the up date but the FMC still show Nav Data out of date. Will this be corrected?
check the navigraph website for a work around
Do you know what exact time it will release tomorrow?
Not sure - by the sounds of it, any time after 1500 UTC (4pm UK time)
I got a question for you. How do you know how to start these planes up? Do you use the documentation and if so where do I find it.
I study the checklist included and the tutorial PMDG have created then make a simple flow/checklist set to help prompt me (which I have uploaded onto flightsim .to for people to use too!)
Hey, what’s means BNN I can’t find it on charts can you explain more please 🙏
BNN is Bovingdon VOR
its not possible to set intertial pos. I click to put the info in but nothing happen
hey, little problem Im having is whenever I try to insert my route or anything, fuel etc my fmc just says 'auto ground ops' and nothing happens. Any Ideas?
You need to turn Auto Ground Ops off if you are going to load fuel via the FMS
@@BritishAvgeek thanks
Can you help me in set my Jostick? I have Logi tech X56 and I can't set throttle reverse. Thanks
@@moymar11 try and set the reversers for each engine to Decrease Throttle 1 & 2 :) I don't have the same hardware so not 100% sure but hopefully that helps
Does this tutorial work for P3D as well, even though it's a bit lacking in features?
Should do yes!
@BritishAvgeek nice
I have started the plane up multiple times and have'nt had any problems until yesterday it just wont move the throttle levers dont work the engine stays at idle can someone help me out i do get a "hyd press dem c2 and c1" warning so i think that may be the problem but when i turn the hydrolics panel on and of the messages disappear but i still cant move.
Try performing a maintenance check.
Is it possible to start both engines simultaneously? I've seen some discussion about this, but not clear on it being possible on the 300ER.
no - you do on the 787 but not for the 777
The 777-300 and 200 series we start the GE engines one at a time, however the RR fitted 200 series we start both at the same time. I believe it has to do with the start cycle logic and available duct pressure during the start. 😊
can anyone help me? My CDU doesn't show any options when selecting Panel State Load :/
Excellent!
Is there a simbrief profile for the PMDG 777 anywhere? Just looked at Simbrief and only have the default one
The default one is perfect and works fine 🙂
love your video the 777 is my faav plane
Hey Nice vidéo like everytime, i would like to know if someone has the TCA quadrant and the PMDG 777, if he can shares with us his calibration for throttle, thanks !
I have the honeycomb bravo
I have it and am also looking for some help with setting up for the 777. Only thing I have seen so far is for the PMDG737-700. Using the joystick button 1 to hold reverse thrust. I might be doing something wrong in setup as the animation in cockpit looked off.
what’s the performance like compared to the iniA320N?
Completely unrelated, but how do you get the flight info on the docking display at the airport?
That's GSX Pro - a separate payware addon
@@BritishAvgeek Strange. I have GSX but it never seems to have safedock working.
Help please... When I first started this plane... I did switch the start mode.. To cold and dark with GPU.. everything was fine. But no subsequent luck. No batteries. No efb... Throttles were full but hardware at idle. Zero interface
I had to uninstall the plane. Same thing happened.
Using windows 11.
Help please
Not sure what to suggest here beyond trying to uninstall the aircraft, restart your PC and then reinstall it via the pmdg website (fresh download from your account again)... If not reach out to them with a support ticket.
And make sure you don't have any extra mods for it installed as they might be the problem (it doesn't need mods)
So helpful 😊
Nervious day before release & no pricing being marketed, feel it cannot be good due to lack of that?
Great helpful content - does look good. 🤞
Yeah not sure on pricing yet. I know they're trying to sort a few small matters out prior to release so they're likely just busy working away at all that stuff and preparing. It was very much a "expected release from Tuesday" type date though so could be the day after for all we know
It's probably getting delayed
@@BritishAvgeek Yep I think i heard it was from 25th to the 30th release but then main advertising was for 25th, sure the product will be good & always some inital bugs with mass use come along & have to get fixed.
Just hoping it isn't out of many's price range & thought if it was a a good price they set/market it no matter - but they haven't so I'm a bit nervous some say it be 737 price but they vary, & prepare 3D versions are over £100.
I know it hard as so much effort & hard work goes into them & we know they a good track record of products. So fingers crossed. I think they double or triple sales if they did a low price but hey most don't.
@@sergivan08 Yep perhaps some said it maybe 25th-30th, so we sall see - looks great.
Pricing of the 737-700 was only first known at the moment of its release. Nothing to worry about.
Using GSX. Cannot get it to work properly, upon push back, the whole front of the plane lifts up
GSX doesn't officially have a patch which supports it yet
Thank you for your input, appreciated
So when requesting data from simbrief are you loading the saved file created while creating a flight?
You create the simbrief flight plan on simbrief - this route string is in the description in case anyone wanted to use the same route - then generate the simbrief flight plan.
After that you follow the steps in the aircraft and it'll pull it all in from simbrief for you
@@BritishAvgeek thank you. She looks like a keeper!!
around what part in the flight would i request clearance from atc
after you set up your pre-flight bits, and before pushback - usually I ask for clearance BEFORE I put the SID in (so I don't have to overwrite what i may have already put into the fmc)
@@BritishAvgeek thanks!
How do you have so many airport ground vehicles?
@@navdeepsingh7584 for pushback? It'll be GSX Pro for MSFS with the custom airport profile
@ no I meant as in all the static ground vehicles scattered around the aircraft. I already have the GSX, but I can see that you had white vans and other trucks and machinery.
In real ops, you do not pressurise hydraulics until before start and cleared by ground personnels.
We don't have any real personnel in flight sim so I always just get them on
Also, in the real aircraft, the sequence of selection is important as switching everything on without waiting for the pressure lights to extinguish leads to inter system fluid transfer which annoys the engineers! As you say though, not an issue in a sim! 😂
SET INIERTIAL POSTION NOT APPEAR, HOW
what is it price?
We'll see tomorrow when it releases
That'll be announced when it releases on the PMDG website
Wait how did you get it it’s supposed to release at 25th June?

His uncle is Freddy Roosevelt-founder and owner of PMDG
He has pre-release access so that he can make content exactly like this video, prior to its release, so that you have detailed tutorials already available when it goes on public sale.
Sadly I'm not "Freddy Roosevelt" nor a tester - but as Ashleigh said, given early access to create content prior to it's release (due tomorrow!) this way you have a variety of resources ready to go from day one :)

Does anyone know the price for this?
We dont know yet but i think something around 60-80 euro's/ 70-90$
The price will be announced the moment it releases like all PMDG releases 🙂
They need to update the engine sound.
