      Those aren't sound effects, this was recorded during a thunderstorm. One of the lightning strikes set fire to the studio and the Sticky Sweethearts barely managed to finish recording before the place burnt down to the ground. That's why they only released the one single "I Glued My Balls to My Butthole Again" backed with this classic B-side.
      The band tried to go on tour, but the crude "See the one (s)hit Sticky wonders" promotional posters they put up landed them in jail, twice.

    After their hit song with I Glued My Balls to My Butthole Again, it didn't take long for The Sticky Sweethearts to come out with another hit song. Moving on from the tragic storytelling of their aforementioned song, lead man Marky Rivers felt the next song should have a different angle. This angle would later make itself known when backing vocals and guitarist, Earl Cashton would find himself accused of public indecency after one unfortunate morning when his bathrobe would get caught from closing his window, stripping the guitarist for the neighbours to see. Recounting this tale of embarrassment to long-time friend and frontman Rivers, the two of them would be struck by inspiration and write into the early hours of the morning, producing their newest hit: The Shadow of My Wiener

      @@joshperkins2487here's some more trivia for the Sticky Sweethearts: the song "I Glued My Balls to My Butthole Again" was inspired by Marky Rivers grandfather Chubby Bunker, who during his marriage had 57 glue related incidents. The song was written shortly after his passing and performed live 3 months later.
      Chubby Bunker was a singer in his heyday, where he also wrote a song about one of his misadventures with glue. According to interviews with his wife, she thought it was funny whenever it happened. They were married for 32 years until his death.

    • @Eidolon1andOnly
      @Eidolon1andOnly 24 дні тому +6

      Though the dance is most notable after the release of this song, it was originally invented for their 1959 #1 hit "I Glued My Balls To My * Again..." as the dance was supposed to showcase how uncomfortable it would be to walk or move once such an accident were to occur. The next Year Chubby Checker liked the moves and stole the exact same dance to use for his newest hit, rebranding the dance as "The Twist" (same as the song title). In 1962 the Sticky Sweethearts struck back with this banger of a song, and took back their dance but added one additional move as finisher which involved "helicoptering" and called it The Wiener Dance. This song was actually an early version of a "diss track" disguised as a love song where they were throwing shade at Chubby Checker for stealing their moves, and to let him know he would always live in their shadow.

    A lot of people dont know this but Richard Longer-Donger (pronounced like a french name for those that have only recently discovered this legendary vocalist) wrote this song whilst under the influence of solvents. The story he tells in his autobiography, "don't pull on my arse strings" is that he wrote "I glued my balls..." before deciding enough was enough and called his bassist Pete Ennis in to help. They decided to simply break the glue down with a gallon of the now discontinued product "termotaint" (i shouldn't need to tell you as we all know their tagline, "if youve got a taint, we can terminate it"). The resulting high left Dick with 3 new songs (however rumours persist to this day that a demo tape from an unknown musician called "shiny rod" may be a forth song written during this time) and a hospital visit. Richard himself said "it was a hot, hot, HOT day down south that day, but i like to think that the vibe of 'Norleans brought out the best in us but son, the humidity can really make you wish for rain, if only to soothe that itch." As ever, he was an incredibly humble man and before his disappearance in wuhan, china in December of 2019 dick said of the song, "the true mastermind behind this song was my pal, good ol' "little" P. Ennis (Richard insisted that the credit should be given to his close confidant and always gave his full name). He was the lubricant that always got us in the back door, even when it was a pain in the ass"

We ran a radio of a handcranked generator. Those dang tubes kept your warm for hours. The local station lost most of their tape collection due to the storm ripping the roof off. They threw up a tarp and kept that show going in t-shirts in minus degree weather. We don't make men like those anymore. I'll never forget the songs on repeat for hours while the frostbite took most of my toes. I didn't complain, we didn't complain back then. We made shadows with our wieners on the wall from the glow of the radiotubes, while dad was beating mom to keep warm.
