Apparently Sonic Blast got a Master System port because the Master System still had market presence in Brazil, which is why it only released in that territory.
Sonic 1 on Game Gear actually has a few fixes from its Master System version. For example, the Jungle Zone issue where the death plane moves with the camera was fixed on Game Gear. Edit: Also, 8-bit Sonic 2 is EASY?! I can’t imagine how many times I died to the first boss in that game!
lol just dodge the balls bro That's interesting about the GG version of Sonic 1 though. It was always my understanding that the Master System versions were held in higher regard, but I guess it's a case-by-case thing?
@@spontman The Game Gear version of the first Sonic 2 boss is way harder because of the lower-screen resolution and the fact that the balls don't have a consistent pattern. I used to always get stuck on that as a kid and only got to see the rest of the game because of the level select.

Sonic 1 (8-bit) > Sonic 1 (16-bit) I found it more comfortable in its design goals and to have a more cohesive story that shows you Sonic's present whereabouts on his home land. Also, the special stages are less luck-based and more straightforward.
Sonic 2 on the Game Gear is a nightmare! While the bosses are painfully easy on the Master System, the screen crunch severely works against you on the Game Gear, thus making the first boss (Antlion) the most unforgivingly difficult of the franchise! For some reason they also made the bouncing bombs much more random to boot!
Neo Geo Pocket Color was technically 16-bit. Great video, though. Was nodding my head to the chiptunes Sonic 3 music, and Triple Trouble was good memories. 😎
@secoTheSonicFan To me it is the opposite, I take the higher resolution of the Master System over any small imporvement the Game Gear version had all day.
Long time no see! Yeah I haven't played a single one of these lol. But now I want to check out some of these after this review. TT 16 Bit is seriously a masterpiece though

Oddly enough, the death plane thing in the jungle doesn’t apply to the Gamegear version. Which is weird, because they made Gamegear Sonic 2 a lot harder in places. That first boss has the rocks falling in two variations, one you have to jump over and another safer to run under(Up a slope may I remind you), and the reduced view makes it an atrocious spike in difficulty, giving you about two seconds to react to each rock.

Oh nice! I found these games fun. I haven't played Blast or Pocket Adventure so I'll only be able to comment on the music. Now Sonic 1 8-bit, I think the levels are alright overall. I disagree with Labyrinth being worse than in the Genesis because there's actually a shortcut in the Master System version that allows you to skip a lot of the level if you find it. I never had any issues with the bosses personally. We agree on the music here. Yeah I don't have much to add with Sonic 2 8-bit, the music is pretty cool though. Chaos was pretty good I liked it. Not much to add here because I agree. Triple Trouble was a bit of a mixed bag for me, it's mostly aight and I agree with the music. One part I really hated was the final boss, holy that boss is cheap and difficult. Sonic Blast, not looking forward to playing this one. I do think the music is alright, could be a lot better but I would not call it bad. Heard good things about Pocket Adventure, great music. The 8-bit remixes are super well done.
I saw after posting the prior comment that you already mentioned TT 16 Bit. Also in your opinion is Pocket Adventure or Mania worse in terms of "not making an identity of its own" (due to zones from past games being reused)?
