Thanks great video. Need to change my lower control arms and oil pan gasket. Very helpful.👌🏾
The best when you have all the right tools. ✅
I did this for a nephew car and regretted I would do for him. It's much more accomplishable with a lift vs at home on jack stands. I am not sure why Nissan wouldn't use some top grad sealant on upper pan from the moon or something. Maybe crank case pressure in these vq35's contribute to oil leaks ?? Great upload and setup my man. Respect.
goin to be doing this as well thanks for the vid!
No problem man!
Thanks save the day
Where did you hook up your engine support bar to?
Where did you attach the engine support bar on the v1 motor? i have no idea??? Please help
Where do I connect the chains from the cross support above the engine . I have to do the same thing but I can't figure out where to bolt the change to I have the exact same engine brace as you
I hope this isn't rude but on average how much would a procedure like this cost
To replace the upper oil pan?
how much times does this take with the right tools and the knowledge?
Hey man! NIce job! Where did you support the engine with the engine support?
Did he ever answer you
Any tips on how to get the upper oil pan unglued from the sealing surface above it? Was it easy? Any special tools needed? I assume you just forgot to hit the record button on your camera during that part. I haven't started this job yet, and I just foresee that being a potential issue and don't want to get that far into it and get stuck there. I plan on reusing the upper oil pan on our car.
I did it yesterday it's not that hard all u need is a hammer and a flat head screwdriver stick it in from the corner by the pulley side tap with hammer and it comes right off but be careful not to send screwdriver in too far
How was the engine being supported while the engine mounts were off? Also I’m doing my rear main at the same time, should I bolt my transmission back up (removed atm for the rear main) then put the upper oil pan gasket on?
I believe so. My understanding is that the bottom of the rear main seal cover is basically part of the upper oil pan mating surface. My son just had a mechanic replace the clutch on his 2003 G35 coupe with MT, and the mechanic thought he had to take that rear main seal cover off to replace the seal and the gasket. Now, the car is leaking worse. I believe it's because he disturbed the connection between the bridge of rtv between the gasket and the pan.
im wondering this as well, the engine supported part
nevermind 0:29 seent it
how much did you charge to do this? a local guy here only asked for $400 for both the valve cover and upper oil pan gaskets. provide the parts and he just charges for labor. i did the lower oil pan gasket myself.
how long did it take you
After removing the bottom motor mount bolts to remove the front subframe, did the engine hang off an engine support bar or is none required? Currently doing this job at the moment. It is mighty hard without a lift lol
Engine support hoist is required. Once subframe is removed there's nothing to support the engine. It's a time consuming job even with a lift. Thanks for watching
@@Kingtuned Thank you for your timely response, I have made wood chocks as a way to hoist the engine. I ended up stripping the nut that holds the brace below the passenger compression arm. Now I gotta wait on the deep nut extractor before proceeding.
@@christiansupnet5975 best of luck!
how long does this job call for?
Is this a all wheel drive
I need this same work done but cant find nobody around willing to to do it for a good price
Everyone charges expensive. A arm and a leg. That's why is best to get a third party warranty.
Do you have to unbolt the transmission (automatic) to replace the upper oil pan on 03 350z?
Kevin Rector nope. The transmission stays attached to the engine through the hole process.
@@Kingtuned What about a manual transmission... do you think it can stay attached during the whole process as well?
I need to get this done since one of the bolts got overtorqued onto the upper pan for a q60. Body shop said they needed to drop the engine, are they bSing me?
When bolts get overtorqued the threads will pull out. Drilling and tapping is the fix. Usually they'll be in really tight spaces so yea i would say engine more then likely has to come out. Good luck.
@@Kingtuned we did the drill and tapping but it got cross threaded. I found another guy that is doing it cheaper, he said that the rear subframe has to come off and engine be held in position
What gasket set did you use?
