  • In This video, we demonstrate how to remove the engine oil pan on any VQ37VHR or VQ35HR equipped Nissan or Infiniti vehicle.
    LOWER OIL PAN TORQUE SPEC: 62 inch lbs, tighten in a criss cross pattern.
    OIL TUBE TORQUE SPEC: 16 ft lbs. 8 ft lbs initially, then 16 ft lbs for final tightening. IF THE BOLTS DON'T GO IN ALL THE WAY BY HAND DO NOT INSTALL THE OIL PAN SPACER UNTIL IT HAS BEEN ADJUSTED.

    Finally, a video without some young kid bouncing around yelling into the camera and explaining what the hell he is doing and why. I don't know why but watching a master ply their trade is always some how, relaxing. Can't wait to check out your other videos.

    I am not really a mechanic but when you used a wire wheel to clean the mating surface I got nervous I can only imagine a stray wire messing the motor up. I used a razor blade, gasoline, and a plastic spatula to clean mine off.

    So many people make the mistake of jamming a screwdriver in one side then prying down on it to get it off. Valve covers to. Not realizing its bending it and it'll never seal right again.

      Just take a set of long m6x1.0 bolts and cut off the heads, I think that's what I did.

    Did you make a mistake in the oil pan torque specs in the description . The manual says 7 to 8 foot lbs of torque.

    • @EnthusiastAutoCare
      @EnthusiastAutoCare  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, larger oil capacity and less chance of sucking in air into the oil pickup since the pickup tube goes lower.

    What are the torque specs for the frames you removed?

    • @EnthusiastAutoCare
      @EnthusiastAutoCare  2 місяці тому

      You will need to be more specific with your question. I don’t recall removing any frames. The torque specs for the bolts I believe are 68 inch lbs and that is reviewed in the video.

    What is the purpose for this?

    • @EnthusiastAutoCare
      @EnthusiastAutoCare  6 років тому +8

      The purpose of the oil pan spacer is to a) help lower temperatures b)help extend oil life by increasing oil capacity c) update the oil pickup to include o-rings that will create a better seal for the pickup when comparted to the factory design that has no o-rings.

    • @sneak916
      @sneak916 6 років тому

      885.0ELopez Marijayne of course. It should need around a half quart more oil

    • @EnthusiastAutoCare
      @EnthusiastAutoCare  6 років тому +9

      actually it's 1qt more, measured and confirmed.

    • @fengyink
      @fengyink 6 років тому +1

      It adds 1 qt of oil capacity to the engine. Given a high dispalcement engine (stock at 328HP 7500rpm 2011+), 5qt of oil capacity cause short life of engine oil - even grade 5 sync is used, oil get dak after 5k miles ./ 6mo. Added capacity keep oil cooler and life longer. The added inch did not cause ground clearance issue, even lowered. The lowest point is the front sway bar (1.9in lower than the stock pan). The best way is to get an oil cooler (2-3x price and installation time). Plus, oil change will add a little hassle to reach the filter location.

    why not drain the oil before removing the oil pan?

    • @EnthusiastAutoCare
      @EnthusiastAutoCare  5 років тому +5

      I’m not sure I follow your question. The oil was already drained.

    • @ebp609si
      @ebp609si 5 років тому

      the installation of the spacer would be easier if you drain the oil from the pan before you drop the pan.

    • @EnthusiastAutoCare
      @EnthusiastAutoCare  5 років тому +9

      ebp609si the oil was already drained from the pan. The oil that came out in the video is just what is left that won’t come out from the drain plug.
