I wouldn't expect this level of detail from a lesson even if I was paying 🤣 Still blows my mind the things we get for free in this internet age. Kids nowadays will never know how good they have it
I gotta say, I really wish these videos were around 10 years ago when I was a kid learning this stuff by ear. You nailed the notes as well as the phrasing and Dime-isms that I had to learn myself lol.

This solo drives me nuts specifically the legato bit, so hard to hear on the album recording what he is playing. Everyone seems to play it different too on youtube just add to my confusion. I've slowed it down a million times and im still unsure. How did you decide on what you're playing? i play it a tad different
I cannot agree more. I'm still not 100% happy with how I played it hear, actually I figured out something ever since... So for the most part it is enough for me to use my ears and slowing down the songs. Sometimes I have to check some live footages which is always helpful. But once You learn some solos really correctly, You'll start to know where to look with an instinct. Still there's a few where it's just more difficult. Cemetery Gates I think is one of the hardest PanterA song with the hardest solo in it, because it has some crazy faster runs with Dime's slides and with His weird timing on the top of everything, and also the slow parts are the ones where You cannot even hide anything, so the phrasings are super difficult.

@@AttilaVorosOfficial Cheers man, yeah i think i get a bit obsessed with these things sometime and should chill lol. This song has a good amount of reverb so that doesn't help for the clarity in fast runs, same thing with other solos on the album like the Domination fast run near the start of the solo the 12 -15-18 run up through the strings.

One bit in particular is 5:23 of the song, that big stretch. Im pretty sure it is 21 -14 and then 14 on the B string, i always hit the 19th fret on the B string
Same. I've been through a bunch of lesson trying to decide what youtuber's version to learn. Actually learned through the first fast legato run, chromatics, and blues lick from chris zoupa's version. Then I started doubting his accuracy on the next parts so I finally got smart. I went to the official music video from the old MTV days and slowed the youtube player down to half and quarter speed. It's still hard to tell exactly what he's doing and the video doesn't stick to dime 100% in the solo, but you can make out his finger positions and that he's hitting notes on the B string in the first fast legato run (actually one at the 15th fret B string that seems to be out of key). So far Attila's lesson has been closest to the album version and he actually breaks down the whammy throughout. There's also a guitar clinic video showing dime play it up close, but the camera work is shit. You can still learn some dime technique from it. The slow playback on youtube is killer.
@@DrPepperZZZ Yeah i noticed that out of key note too when i slowed it down but choose to not play it and just stick to the scale. Solos on that album can be hard to hear the fast runs, a bit too much reverb melts notes together.
Who would have thought that the solo broken down, is all the boring exercises I didn't do enough....🤘

What strings do you use?
For standard E/D# and 425E I use Ernie Ball 9-46 slinky, and for D/C# and 425D I use Ernie Ball Hybrid 10-52. For the 7th string I use either 68 or 70 (usually 68).
