      Nah these harms are super easy and you will get to a point where you can pull them off quickly. Learn Joe Satriani method too. Pinch harm in between the pickups. Easy sounds so cool.

    17 years of his death, and not a single soul in this entire planet could come close this sound. Not even the technicality or complexity of his playing. The sound man. It's immortal. Unreachable. Unforgettable.

    Dime does his 2nd harmonic squeals with his wah engaged. It trims out the frequencies that kill the sustain of higher notes.

  • @kyledadams

    His squealies were great, however dimes pinched harmonics were absolutely incredible. The way he was able to sustained those harmonically rich pinched notes in perfect harmony and pitch really blow me away. I really hate that he was taken from us.

      It's all manipulation of the middle 2nd harmonic. It's in between frets, but slightly towards the literal 3rd fret. High gain and clean technique and it's pretty easy. Using a whammy pedal is a cheap way out if you can't do them right.

    I’ve started having the bar forward pushing down to lower the pitch, then hybrid picking the string with my middle finger to get the harmonic l, then pulling back up and it makes it really easy to eliminate string noise when changing between multiple strings during divebombs! makes it really easy and gets a nice loud harmonic too

    Hey Ola! Greetings from Oregon! Great vid on the Dime squeals man. It's really helped. Reading how to do it from his book is good, but seeing it done is even better. Anyway, I don't know if you're taking questions on this video still, but if you are? I really dig your alternate picking/chugging technique. It sounds tough as hell dude. After 5 years, its still something I struggle with. I was wondering if you had some tips for stuff like, simply holding the pick, string attack, wrist control (my wrist always seems to want to tense up), things like that. I'd really like to be a great chugger. But, I struggle. Thanks dude, and keep on rockin!

  • @JBXXR
    @JBXXR 6 років тому

    actually you flick the string with your index finger then dive the tremelo then tap the harmonic with your 3rd finger as the strings regain tension and if you get it right you can cut out the noise of the flick with the index finger just leaving you with the tapped harmonic. i saw a dime bag vid where he was doing a soundcheck for a damageplan set and he gave a quick tutorial how to do this and thats how he did it :)

    For begginers out there, let's say you're using whatever high gain distortion pedal, and can't get enough sustain out of it, a little trick that actually Dimebag used and many guitar players do is to have any kind of overdrive before the distortion on the signal chain, and if you're using your amp's distortion and it has a preamp jack or loop, you plug the overdrive there, that might help you get an insane amount of sustain for your squeals or vibratos.

    Could you do a video/livestream on how you would approach mixing one of your songs to get that killer sound you get please? I’m ok at mixing but some tips and tricks would be very handy! Have a great day and hello from England mr Englund.

    I'm digging this lesson. As for your question, how do you do the following:
    1. Play 8 string guitar parts on a 6 string hardtail without tuning down or any kind of pitch shifting.
    2. How to make a guitar sound like a sousaphone with only a regular amp.
    I'm only kidding. Unless you'd have actually went for it. :P Okay, a real suggestion: The easiest way to pick fast. It can be a bit tricky for some people. Even those who have played for a long time. Or, pinch harmonics and how to add them to fast lines or just add them at all. It can be tricky to play a lead line and throw a pinch harmonic in there if you aren't used to adding them.
