I'm enjoying your insight and discovery of these great singers from music styles that perhaps you have not had much exposure to in the past. Pantera and Tool have both been fixtures in my life since I first heard them in the 90's. If you want to try another truly unique vocal performer, I would strongly recommend the song "Christian Woman" from Type O Negative. They were an amazing goth metal band from Brooklyn, NY, in the 90's, and their lead singer was a 6'7" tall genius named Peter Steele. He had an amazing knack for composition and arrangement, could sing using a bass voice so deep it would crack concrete, mixed with a high falsetto and elements of Gregorian chant, and he was so big he could play an upright bass slung over his shoulder. Christian Woman does a really good job of showing the full versatility of his voice, but there are several versions of the song. The full album cut is like 9 minutes long, but worth every second. It was heavily edited down for its music video, which I would not recommend.

Great reaction. I'm glad I got to see Pantera a couple of times. Once when they toured with Slayer and once when they toured with Black Sabbath. Great, great concerts.
Ken, awesome reaction! Phil Anselmo is an excellent vocalist! I think at that time (1990ish) his voice would be classified as a baritone... now, it would be a bass. The last high note sounded like a G5 or so.
Hey I just discovered your channel and I think what you're doing is great. I love when people who don't listen to metal, listen to metal with the intent of listening to it to evaluate it and are pleasantly surprised by what they find. I like to make a recommendation for a metal listen to, and that is Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth. They are known for being heavy while also being incredibly mellow and beautiful at almost the same time, and Mikael sings in a lot of clean vocals. I'd recommend this video as an example. ua-cam.com/video/BAlDEcQMLio/v-deo.html

when you write songs about things that have happened and you know in your life usually have emotion and put them in the music and they make the best like this one.
Check out “This Love” as well for vocal performance! Cool to watch you take a deep listen and hear your quickly thought out takes. I think you could be going off on a lot of other instrumentation than vocals if you wanted to.
THAT guitar solo replayed at the end of your video is killing it!!!
i miss pantera. dimebag was a phenom on guitar
This guy with his little old granny "cuss words"....I love it!
6:17 Ken channels his inner Paul Rudd
Awesome Reaction.... Classic Metal Song 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
06:15 - My reaction after hearing every Pantera song for the first time 😅
Great reaction. Love how intensely this guy is listening to the song
More Devin Townsend and try some Mike Patton!
R.I.P. Vinny Paul & Dimebag Darrell Abbott, Brothers in arms and back together again in Heaven. You both are sorely missed.
Check out their song "power metal" from their eponymous album if you want to see anselmo's chops front & centre.
Alot of people dislike this album, because it was before they solidified their style, known as "groove metal" but i think it's a great and very technical album.
There isn’t a single person on this planet who doesn’t get giddy and excited during a dimebag solo.
Phil was awesome in his prime time. Unfortunatly, if you listen to him today, he's kinda the embodiment of what your voice turns out to be after years of vocal abuses, no training and not taking care of it.
When this album hit. We were never the same. Love them still to this day.

Aaryan Rana 👍🏻
You can't imagine how much I would love you to confront the innovative vocal style of Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation) 'your disposal' live at Party San. No vocal coach has yet! I am dying to see this reaction. All the best, Tom
I've decided to change my most used swear words to Ken Lavigne quotes 🖤
I'm very glad you did this song. Thanks!
This was an edited version. There is an excellent intro that was cut out
I believe the music video cuts it out, and the studio versions keep it in
The whole band were monsters, all equally amazing
Phil *had* range. I don't know if he could pull those high notes off today.
Tão bom ver alguém que entenda de verdade o valor dos vocais no rock. Parabéns.
Good reaction! I'm not sure about it getting quieter when you speak... It's a little distracting. Not sure if it is full volume on your end but if not I don't want you to miss anything!
It's due to copyright.
xVDRx sounds like bullshit cause everyone else just pauses and will say what they wanna say then press play again 🙄
@@cmdrdredd which he does at multiple points in the video. He also apologizes for the choppy audio levels which he said was due to copyright.
The Way Dimebag followed Anselmo's voice its just outstanding! Love this music, Love the entire album!
You should do the Janis Joplin 'Ball and Chain" at Monterey Pop video. Or, anything from Faith No More's The Real Thing album as others have suggested.
Great job on this classic song. Thankyou.
please, react to anything of faith no more or mike patton, i really like to ear you opinion about him
Great reaction. I'm glad I got to see Pantera a couple of times. Once when they toured with Slayer and once when they toured with Black Sabbath. Great, great concerts.
Please do the band Type O Negative, song Love You to Death. An incredible bottom end rock singer. Extremely bottom end.
That final high note battle is one of the greatest things to ever happen.
It sounds like you grabbed a shortened version there's a longer intro.
Happy Birthday Dime!
Could you please check out the band Blind Melon and either the song Mouth full of Cavities or the song Soul One.
One of the best bands ever
Ken, awesome reaction! Phil Anselmo is an excellent vocalist! I think at that time (1990ish) his voice would be classified as a baritone... now, it would be a bass. The last high note sounded like a G5 or so.
He was 18 on Power Metal when it was recorded in late 86-87.
His vocals are out of his world
Hey I just discovered your channel and I think what you're doing is great.
The fact that you said "this is what? Mid 90s?" Just goes to show how far ahead of their time Pantera was!
Edit: Alternative CD title for Pantera "Very Impressive Display of Vocal Athleticism"
Cowboys From Hell was mainly written in 1988, was published in 1990.
Pantera had 4 albums before that in 1983,1984,1985 and 1988
when you order conan o’brien from wish
Love when someone discovers the power and soul of music.
MY BROTHER UR DOING PANTERA. UVE GOT TO DO FEAR FACTORY NOW. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! DO SELF BIAS RESISTOR OR POWERSHIFTER OR FEAR CAMPAIGN. PLEASE MY FRIEND. IVE GOT TO SEE WHAT U THINK!!!
you'll have to speak up, I'm wearing a towel.
Poor Burton blew out his voice as well afaik. But yeah, my teen years were mostly me blasting Pantera, Sepultura and Fear Factory out of my speakers.
If you want to hear a higher note, go with Shattered. For lows you want Floods or a song from his new project En Minor, entitled On the Floor. If you want emotional, go with Hollow. If you want balls out aggression and screaming, maybe Living Through Me (Hells Wrath).
