#PanterA #CowboysFromHell #PlayItLikeDimebagLesson
The level of detail in your analysis does Dime justice! Respect
This truly needs to be the number one suggested video after you search for a lesson on this solo because there is so much nuance to Dime's playing that you make look easy. It's not easy but you making it look so doable is super motivating lol
Thanks to you I'm able to play 2 Dimebag solos - well, almost! I'm still learning "Cowboys From Hell" but no one - NO ONE - has broken down this solo as well as you!
Thank you sir! You have a subscriber for life!!!
Happy to hear man! Thanks for sharing this with me! CHeerz
Man you're a life saver. IDK how many times I've tried to go back and listen carefully but couldn't ever figure out what I was doing wrong. Haha. Once again man you're awesome bro. Much love and respect. 🤘
Thank You very much my Friend, means a lot to know if it was helpful in any ways!
Dimebag had a very pronounced 'correct' grip with his fretting hand (thumb placed at the halfway point of the neck). Far more than most metal or rock players. Sure he switched to more Hendrix style, thumb hooked over top fretting position also but the legato with such correct fretting hand positioning is so fucking hard if you are a rock hack like me. Great video for us nerds, thank you.
This is the most underrated UA-cam channel I've ever seen, can't believe you haven't got every Pantera loving guitarist in the world subscribed to you. Just relearned the cowboys solo your way and it sounds top notch! Best cowboys solo lesson on UA-cam.
This is the song that started my love for Pantera! Awesome and extremely helpful/accurate lesson as usual.
Thank you so much dude
Sorry I didn’t see it 🤦♂️
CFH was the first song I learned on guitar. Said goodbye to buying drums and kept my guitar.
15:42 Thank you for that part, nobody notices that small bend which actually gives that bluesy vibe in the section. Very well played.
this is by far the best and most accurate transcription of this solo ever . dime bless
bless
Bro your energy is unmatched, this is the first time I've ever sated down, went through the whole vid, learned every note (not at full speed, YET) and finished without feeling tired or anoyed, you Sr is a blessing thank you so much for this video 🤘🏻😎
Thank You for sharing this, it's veryy kind of You, and I'm happy it made You feel like that!
Cheerz \m/
Best Dime lesson I’ve seen. Getcha pull🤘
Dude ur a legend on lessons! I’ve been learning cowboys & almost got the solo down & ur lessons make it so clear compared to other guys on you tube! Good work!! Thanks man 👌🏻
Thank You Luke, means a lot to hear such a feedback, Im happy to know these lessons help!
Thanks man, killer as always! Would love a solo lesson on a new level or perhaps mouth for war 🤘🏼
10/10 man
Thank You! They're both coming, Mouth For War is almost on the corner ;) Cheerz
I'm so happy!I've barely seen hungarian guitar covers, that were so good.Awesome cover, accent, tone I honestly couldn't tell that you were hungarian but i'm very happy
Thanks man, happy to hear that!
I 💕 your house 🏠🏡 and keep it real though 😜🎉!!!
You're a legend doing this series. 🤘😎🤘
A very kind overstatement :)
3 hours later... im on minute #9. Should complete around christmas. Seen you play support for Pantera in Budapest, loved your band ❤❤❤
I really should have warmed up before attempting to follow this 😭😭 your instructional videos are really great man 💪
Thanks man! And yeah, these wide stretches can be VERY harmful, so for your own safety I'd really be aware, and not overdo it!
Thank you sooooo much for doing this! It's really hard to hear parts of the solo through the very compressed mix and it's also very difficult because like George Lynch, Dime didn't always stay within typical transcribe-able rhythms. You friggin nailed it , brother!
Thanks Attila !!
I m training ! A dream this solo ! PANTERA Forever
Hellyeah! Wish You tons of fun with it my Friend!
Thank you so much! I was knowing this solo wrongly in past 10 years. Now I can play it properly because of you! Thank you sooooo much again
@ 3:03 the face every guitarist makes when they realize "holy f*ck, I just did that"
I guess was indeed happy with that last note there :)
I always put off learning this solo because of that pinky slide lick. I saw it transcribed in Guitar World as a slide from 19 to 20 AND back down to 19 when I was like 15 years old. I was just like, nah, I can't do it. F' it. Like this it actually seems pretty doable!
Thank you so much, this was very helpful. I’ve had the entire solo pretty much down aside from the one part that alot of people have trouble with so this was great help. It was also useful for helping touch up some other places with a tiny bit of vibrato to get close to dimes playing
thx man i got it all down just need to get my speed now appreciate it
awesome lesson, I subscribed! You have a very nice way to explain, well done !!!
holy crap that big val moment!! haha gold! keep them coming bro!
Cool right? Thanks! Cheerz
@@AttilaVorosOfficial if you have the chance, 5 mins of dime solos 1994 in one concert, the badassery of the pickup switch in walk is like a nail!

@@unknownartist0101 Oh yeah, know that for sure. I always change pickups because of Him, even when I'm not pluged in at all :))
@@AttilaVorosOfficial hahah nice it's addictive keep it up can't wait for more 101 proof covers!
@@AttilaVorosOfficial also as I told you before can't wait for damageplan 🤘 dime was wisdom: 💯 with that one!
Just great, thank you❤🙏😸👍
Finally! Thank you!
Amazing lesson man. I am gonna put in the effort it takes until I can nail this. Check in in a year or two. PS, I have found that the picking and picking order is the key to a lot of shred being possible to play or not. Thank you for illustrating each stroke.
Looking fwd to watching it man;)
Awesome lesson Bro! My fingers say that those bends are sick ;)
Thanks Amigo! What You are practising with Mouth For War are muuuch more difficult bendings ;)
Yeah, you're my boy!
I was looking for one of these from you
Thank you, Attila new Dimebag fan here
Thank You and welcome in this amazing family! ;)
Awww yeah, Getchapull! Great lesson!
thank you for wonderfully detailed lesson - that makes it 'easy' to learn this difficult solo. what is that guitar, it is absolutely beautiful with such a great tone!
This vid leads me to real man's way
Ichave this exact same Schecter, most excellent guitar
Thank you for lesson broo keep going 🤘
Thank You!
Fantastic work
I sit there and play it slow forever and I can never speed it up until I just mashed potatoes my way through the whole lick then I start to understand it. It’s like you have to start and finish it then start nailing down the parts in between.
Hey dude. Completely agree with your pinky slide 19/20 fret. As you say though... you have to go back to some pretty early recordings to hear Dime play that lick live.
Thank you. The transcription for the crazy lick from the official Cowboys from Hell guitar book is almost impossible. Find the video of Pantera playing Cowboys at Ozzfest and you can clearly see Dimebag doing the pinky slide🤘🎸👍
Fantastic!
Thank you master
Play it like Loomis next!!!
I am planning to do such videos ;)
@@AttilaVorosOfficial That's awesome... I can't wait! By the way... I am almost at the end of learning this solo... your teaching is by far the BEST I have found on UA-cam... you are amazing Attila... keep it up!!!! 🤘🤘
@@mattwhitfield9850 Thank You my Friend, I truly appreciate and happy to hear if it helps!

Hey Attila, this note for note breakdown is fantastic. But how can we get the timing and phrasing right when playing? This is probably the hardest part for me currently. Thanks!
Thanks man! Well, yeah, to be honest, that's the hardest part, something that is also very hard to explain, too... I'd say use your ear, and listen ALOT :)
Sometimes I used to me little loops for certain parts just to work on the timings, but I think it's more of the listening part that helps me
love this!
To be honest, I dont think Dimebag played that Paul Gilbert like alternate picking part the harder way as you presented. Its impossible😂, but you are great at picking, and dimebag wasn't so good at fast picking, are you sure he played 12th fret on the b string with an upstroke? Was he so great?? Kudos from Poland
Yes, and I believe it's much harder to play the other way around. But I understand if it's unusual to start with an upstroke at first, it really is if someone's not used to that, but makes total sense
Azilado!
12:11 i always thought it was more like blues saraceno than paul gilbert lick
Dunno what a blue saraceno, but the way Dime played it, was definitely more dirty, ""sloppy''', and not PaulGilbert super clean (in a good way oc). If that makes sense...
Thanks man for 2nd sections groupings. M very much confused with the phrasing.. Coz I ve groupings of 2 3 2 3 and 5 5...but within 4 beats having first beat half rest it will be very difficult to play.. Thanks once again
Hello! Great video, you have awesome feel! What kind of guitar are you playing?
Thats easy❤🍻
I love the lessons!!
Could you do a good version of cemetery gates solo if you have a chance
Thanks 😉🤘🤘🤘
Thanks man! And there You go ;)

Shit man thanks for your lessons you are the best
Man this solo is harder than I thought. I’m stuck at the first run, can’t quite go up to speed. My hands and fingers start to get really stiff. I guess I have to repeat it a couple of times to get the feel
DimebagLike!
cool dude
what guitar is that? it sounds incredible!
Thanks man! That is a Schecter E1 Custom with EMG Retro Active Hot 70 pickups in it. And I cannot agree more, it's one of my best sounding axe for sure ;)
If you're gonna use a delay effect, tell your audience your amp setting so we can sound better.
Why do you have the electrical tape flanking both sides of the neck pickup if you're playing a guitar that has a non-tremolo Les Paul action?
Are those the stock pickups in that axe?
Nope, although I really loved those as well I installed EMG Retro Active Hot 70 sets in it. Super amazing pickups for my taste and needs
@@AttilaVorosOfficial thank you good sir
If you listen to the album the first lick you do where it gets "tricky". He never actually.goes onto the b string... ive slowed it down to 25% speed and counted the notes....he never goes on the b he stays on the high e... live.. he goes on b string.. but on album go and count the notes and listen aswell if you dont believe me... its 11 12 14 12 11 14.. 11 12 14 12 11 14 11 14(bend up)
Why start bar 13 with an upstroke instead of inside the string picking?
Can You please send me a link with an exact timing so that I know which part You're talking about? That way I could probably help explaining a bit
@@AttilaVorosOfficial The E pentaonic "paul gilbert" lick in bar 13. it's just a lot easier and makes more sense to inside pick. there's nothing to get you caught up in the licks before or after
@@AttilaVorosOfficial ua-cam.com/video/FhIaX-HjMYQ/v-deo.html
@@DaveDurango OK I know which one. So the reason why it makes much more sense to me starting with an upstroke is that it's simply more efficient, since this way You simply pick towards the G string from the B, and then back with a downstroke to the B to start over. If You would start the lick the "Paul Gilbert" way - which I fully agree it totally is by the way :) - from the G 12 and than 14-15 etc... than You would wanna start with a downstroke which would ultimately result the same picking direction, just starting from a different note. All that being said, I know it can simply be unusual to start anything with an upstroke. Also Dime started the lick with a slide up which can be downstroken, and which might make it a bit easier to then continue with an upstroke.
This is my logic and feeling behind that one.
i got it but jesus christ, dime tryin to break my fingers
Did u tape ur pickup in honor of dime and his tech?
I found this to be one of his easier solos
What guitar is that
Yes but would Dime take the time to analyze his playing choices in order to tab it or just play licks and riffs until he comes up with something he liked and just practice it. Would be nice to know how he learned songs from other guitarists. Mostly by ear or using tabs and some theory. Unless I'm mistaken he did not learn much theory just found the notes he was hearing in his head and understood where to find them on the fingerboard. I also say this because that's how I learned. I later learned theory to explain what I was already playing and to grasp using scales to visualise paths on the fingerboard. This created an insecurity in my playing and feel took a back seat for a while. When I was young and not realising there where two or more guitarists in some bands, I tried to copy what I heard and created a hybrid playing style of lead and rhytmn multi-tasking. What a revelation once I learned the truth. Still, I gained a new skill of replacing a rhytmn player while being a lead player.
All this to say, I do sometimes wonder if he took a similiar aproach to Eddie Van Halen on playjng what he heard in his mind and nevermind trying to learn about why it works.
Im totally about learning by ear. That's what I did, that's what I know. I do not know theory at all, yet these seems to help and give some joy to others so that is that, but I honestly believe it's veeery helpful to use and train your ears because that could help you become more original.
Since they didn't have UA-cam or any such video help for learning their fav I am pretty sure Dime only used His ears to learn Eddie's stuff.
@@AttilaVorosOfficial Nice. One thing I noticed is that you mentioned that you do not know theory at all however in this video you use terminology and key scaling degrees to explain what notes they are. We all tend to absorb some theory as you listen to other educated musicians explain musical details. Sort of educating yourself listing to others instead of former training.
You're really good at replicating Dime's feel of playing. I'd say you have an upper hand on many other musicians in that area, theory or not. The guitar is a singing tool that has it's own vocal abilities.
You got the middle part right in the solo atleast... but the end part with the slide you got wrong to..... ill explain how it goes shortly... i need to smoke first.. .. actually its late ill fill it in tomorrow...
Didn't you upload the 101 album cover??? Did you delete it?
Daamn, I just saw that it got blocked :( I'll try to d osomething about it, maybe uploading it by song... Thanks for letting me know!!
Ciao
@@AttilaVorosOfficial stupid youtube, I was about to watch it later, and yes uploading song by song it's a great idea
Keep rocking dude
Hmmmmm I'll have to watch some videos more closely to see if he plays that stretch lick with slides or not,
*watches*..... yeah you're right... no wonder no one can pull of that part lol
👍
Nice tutorial but the tone is different
Booooooooooring
Dime actually played it with the slides sometimes live
