Thanks for sharing your setup. I’ll be building out my honey house this year. Hoping to do something similar.

Hello again Gus this video just got posted again an of course I wanted to watch it again. That hedge row plants you spoke about is that spelled Vitex an also I am looking for something to get real clear honey because both of my yards produce about all dark honey. Tho about all the people that purchase from me really really love my dark honey . Also I did some of my creamed honey this year in one of the darker honey an it was a major hit but the light is needed . Hope all is going well in the off season. Looking forward to more of your videos. THANKS OH I would like to see up close your owl boxes an maybe the size because I have owls here around my house. Thanks

That screened room is fab! Like that there is room for expansion if needed. And all without the added stress of loan payments. Very Nice!

Great tour Gus! I love the learning classroom and how you built things with expansion in mind.
We have a Vitex tree in our neighborhood that the bees are always working. We also have a sourwood tree in our neighborhood in town and I found another about a mile away. Right now the flowering quinces are pumping out flowers loaded with pollen that the bees are all over as well. I would think the sourwood and quince would grow easily just outside of town.

I really love that you are willing to teach others about beekeeping. Wish that were more common in the beekeepers around my area,

Just curious I am also in Tennessee closer to middle Tennessee. But Tennessee is very specific about what you have to have and how you build a honey house. Was that a pain in the butt to deal with?

Since I’m in the Memphis area, I built my honey house in West Memphis AR.
TN has some unfair rules about honey house requirements. Arkansas is much more realistic with theirs, and the land was much more affordable than anything I could find across the bridge in TN.

Nice video. I would love that setup. What is the break down of your revenue? Classes, vs wholesale honey, vs retail honey, etc? Not trying to get too personal but curious where I should direct most of my focus.

Your market will likely be different from mine. Personally I build my market up slowly feeling things out as I go.
Im in that phase with the classes right now.

I’m staying around 250 and I don’t have any plans to expand much beyond that.
I’m very cautious with buildup, once you have your management techniques down it’s very easy to build bees.
For me it’s important after setting a goal and reaching it to have the next year to ensure the same results can be achieved before jumping ahead again.
There are many beekeepers in my surrounding area. For me it’s important to develop a market and grow it for my products or I could end up without the profit I need for it.
