In this video I demonstrate some management techniques for getting your comb honey supers filled. Comb Honey can be a wonderful accident, but comb honey in quantity requires a lot of work!
Gus, thanks for this video. I know you said the other day that you sell the 10 frames of comb honey in a super. Do they get the super it was produced in or a new super so it all looks new like the frames that you use? Thanks again and take it easy in the heat!
Thanks for this one Gus, I'm a small timer that had his largest harvest ever this year @250lbs and had 4 or 5 customers already asking for comb honey next year.
Very nice!! Question..... I remember you saying that you sell the whole frame at once, do you cut out the whole slab or sell the frames with it?? I hate that you have to sell the custom made frames. Thanks for always thinking of us little folks and killing the blower and moving the camera so we can see and hear you .
I do the same thing juggling it around... I'll do little checker boarding .. I use med equipment for my comb honey.. I've even top fed with gallon buckets of honey just to help them finish it . bee keepers buy it up that's forsure .. I did hundred frames this year probably 90% ready
Excellent video as usual. Your topics are always need to know. Why do you put your comb honey in the freezer? To kill beatles and moths or just to make the comb a little harder to damage?
I still find myself re-watching your videos as I progress in my beekeeping experience. Such great timeless information. I hope you are doing well. I hope to see you at a local meeting soon. Thanks Gus.
I hate electric blowers, but for this purpose, I think they would work better. Those gas blowers shoot exhaust either down the tube or directly below it, pushing the fumes into the box.
Really have learned a lot from you wondering if you were going to put up more videos
I’ve had a lot of request for chunk comb honey this year so thanks for sharing your techniques. I really enjoy your channel.
Thank you. I'm looking for your management prepping your hives for putting your comb boxes on. How do you prep the hives?
I think there’s tidbits of that in different videos but not one specific video
You running 8 frames? You shallow frames, are they 6 5/8"?

They get the box for a deposit, I also package a few different ways
What's the purpose of putting them in the freezer?
To kill wax moth and any other eggs

Have any videos on how you attach the foundation to the frames? Just melted wax as glue? Or do you just use a starter strip?
I used melted wax to glue the foundation in, but I leave around a 3/8 in gap at the bottom
Yes I have a couple. This one has gotten a lot of views.
