Plenty of cars running around like that. Factory Cobra exhaust for 99-04 was under the IRS.
@@MrYogitron92 the IRS suspension doesn't move in the middle unlike a live axle does. That's why the exhaust is under it.

Your 408 is exactly like the one i am dropping in my 93 f150 except i went with 225cc trick flow highport heads and a 11.5-1 compression ratio. I sure hope mine sounds as good as yours. Looks like a beast.

Are you running a solid flat tappet cam with hydraulic roller lifters? In your description you mention hydro roller and solid flat tappet. I am building a a 408 as well. What deck height, piston cc, head cc and head gasket thickness are you running? Do you have a part number for the cam? Is it pump gas friendly? What did you set your all in timing at?

Well you'd have to take the stock 460ci or 7.3 powerstroke out and replace it with a smaller engine. Lol. 408 is for f150, mustangs, lightweight work... Racing. If you wanna build a mean muscle truck IMO the f250 with a 460 is the way to go.

A crate 408 would require at minimum a new torque converter.

Relatively mild cam, for those heads and inches, sounds like an old 30-30 cams lope.
The most lift youll see in a 408w is about 0.800, but that's with e85 and maybe boost. This is NA and sounds like 93 octane, so Id guess the biggest cam he could get without stalling at every light is something like a 0.630-70. This is a pretty big cam for a NA motor with less than 10.5:1 compression.
How did you arrive at 525 hp ?

I must disagree, a healthy sounding 289, 302, 351w, 357w, 393w, 408w, regardless the cubes, a healthy sounding engine's sound will be completely determined my the lift and lobe seperation of the cam!

Sounds good .i know not a lot of room to run exhaust over the axle when you have a 4Link with panhard and sway bar. I have a Heidts Pro G4 link trying to figure out how to run the exhaust on mine
