It’s fascinating that he’s getting those kind of et’s with a low lift cam. It really shows how great those heads are! Hoping I’ll tap into the tens with mine next season. Frank.

I believe in this class you gotta run Stock Lift on the Camshaft, But on the Duration side, Does Not need to be Stock Specs, that's one of the reasons why these Stock and Super Stock cars make so much power.

I had a 71 Grande, 2bbl and later a 70 Gran Coup 440-4bbl 4-spd, engine out of a 71 GTX that was wrecked. Liked them both, of course the Barracuda was a different animal to the mild mannered Mustang. But I actually liked the Mustang more, the styling, and handling. This guy and setup shows what that car and engine can do. All you hear about now are Hemis. Always liked that 351, sweet motor. I'm impressed.

Im a ford guy from diehard ford family. My chevy friends i would tell a 4v cleveland is like a heavy cammed dz302 or a rectangular port bigblock chevy. Give it carb and gears and turn up the rpm's. They always joked kindly and with amazement saying i have a 2stroke powerband. Not much up to 5000K then wham it hits like a train and shift at 7400. If in need ive pulled 1st and 2nd to 7700. (Really just to shock and amaze my friends plus OMG it sounded amazing) Using just an old school calcams solid lifter flat tappet. 610 lift. 270 ish duration at .050. It was a sig erson new but ran awful. Calcams reground it. Idled at about 1200 sounding like a prostock. Custom 750dp worked over to 838. (This was early and mid 90's, didn't have mail order race carbs like we do now. Mine was done at specialty shop, flow bench, etc)

Yeah, it was a very muscular design variant of the 71 Mustang, very wide and bulky. I love them too. They were scary fast, in fact they were forbidden in Australia after some dangerous street races were seen (the famous Supercar Scare). Ford was planning an even faster Phase IV version before the ban, so very few of them were built (four, actually).

I had a Boss 351 with plain black interior and was black on yellow with a 4 speed and rear spoiler. I sure miss my car.

Okay Evan, you're killing me! Love this car, love how it's been raced and taken care of! My '73 Mach 1 351C is still stock, kinda hard to find 4V closed chamber heads for these things. But I'm still looking to do something that's still street friendly. We'll see, seems a neighbor of mine has a 351C, 4V engine, not sure if he'll part with it!

I've seen a bunch of 4V Open Chamber Heads around, The Closed Chambers are pretty rare, expect to pay some decent money for some. CHI 3V Aftermarket Heads work really well on the Clevelands I've heard, if you're looking to go aftermarket, they'd be a great choice, Trick Flow also has some Cleveland Heads also, never used them on a Cleveland, But used Trick Flows for SBF and BBF Engines throughout the years, I've always had good luck with them.

If its going 10.66 in the quarter then the good ol Cleveland is making more than 500hp with a full interior 71 Stang.

@@jamesmedina2062and at 3285 which was the stated weight the engine has to make over 600 hp to run a 10.46 like it did in the video. That's with the stock intake and a ridiculously small cam althoughit doesn't sound like a lot of duration it has to be to make power past 6700 rpm. It must have 13 to 1 compression at least because it isn't magic that is making all that horsepower.

@@crazyoilfieldmechanic3195 well I wonder how much power I left on the table using a 215@.050 straight I/E hyd roller on a 383 stroker 2 barrel with 10:1. Crane had a split duration cam back in the day with approx 230@0.050/240@0.050. But how high should a hyd roller cam even go? Dyno had me with 325hp at the wheels at 5000 feet elevation.
