Good video. Foods high in oxalates and lectins can be causing inflammation in people. If you make a list of the foods high in these compounds there aren't many plant foods left to eat.

Along with eliminating antinutrients, eliminating carbohydrates leaves even fewer plant foods. Two examples are avocados and olives.

Major dietary factors contributing to inflammation = excess omega 6 vegetable oil + excess sugar/carbs. These two in combination, really seem to alter systemic inflammation levels. Also, just a side thought/speculation, I wonder if all those carbs encourage poor dental/gum health, leading to increased gum inflammation and absorption of increased bacterial breakdown products, hence an increase in systemic inflammation. After all, gum health is already linked to heart health!

If it's carbs overall then vegan diets would not be associated with lower inflamation markers. Wich it is. We should remember It's a big difference between carbs and carbs also.

Weston A. Price saw a connection between dental health and overall health back in the 1930s with his studies of primitive cultures eating ancestrally all over the world. Modern foods were the culprit, he thought. Most primitives treated natural carbs with fermentation, etc. But meat eaters had no carries (cavities) or malformed dental arches. This is true of ancient skulls. When plants were in the diet (like Egyptians) they had cavities. If meat only, like the Inuit or even Neanderthals, no cavities or at most very few.

@@ernestjahn6676 Yes, it makes perfect sense. I am familiar with his work. It seems that when plant based carbs enter the diet, cavities become an issue.

Dr. Saladino is one of the few people I have seen to be so confident in that saturated fat is safe for APOE4 carriers as long as they are insulin sensitive.
On the contrary, people like Dr. Steven Gundry says it will cause oxidized LDL particles for APOE4 carriers even if insulin sensitive.
This sounds like a good topic for a third podcast with Dr. Gundry. As of April 2021, he has done two podcasts with him.
I hope I can eat saturated fat one day as an APOE4/E3 since I am getting sick of olive oil and lean meat. Butter and animal fatty tissue just taste and feel better.

Wow. Ferritin at 250 or 270! Morley Robbins, an expert on iron in his Root Cause Protocol, recommends between 20 and 50, with 0 being ideal as per Douglas Kell, PhD. Actually, he considers ferritin a marker of inflammation and not true iron status as most iron is stored in the tissues which is hard to measure.

It's a good discussion. But Cole didn't fully and directly answer Saladino's questions about the carnivore diet, fiber, etc. Why advocate a "whole foods" diet that is balanced with plant and animal foods? Maybe most plant foods, including in "whole food" form, are unhealthy or otherwise problematic for most people. Why assume plant foods are healthy and that the default is to keep them in the diet? Saladino didn't push him on this issue, but I'd like to have heard some debate between these two.

Actually the term "human race" is completely inaccurate from a scientific point of view because race basically in science vernacular is considered subspecies - it's not considered species. In a way there IS one humanity, but it doesn't mean that there cannot also be differences, and it doesn't mean that recognizing the differences means you have to have hostility towards the other. It doesn't mean you can't interact with each other, it doesn't mean you can't live together. And the fact that we're all humans doesn't mean we have to live together or that it's always best to live together.

About that APOE4 case study, the authors said the man had a heterozygous pattern of APOE4, but did not mention if he had the E4/E3 or E4/E2 pattern.
I believe the difference in the E4 being paired with an E3 or E2 could make a difference in the person's response to a ketogenic diet that is supposedly high in saturated fat?
Title of the case study, Dr. Saladino mentioned:
APOE ε4, the door to insulin-resistant dyslipidemia and brain fog? A case study

Both of these guys either never heard of Paleo Medicina and Zsofia Clemens, or consider their claims of almost perfect success rate to be bogus with curing intestinal permeability and inflammation with meat and fat. Also, with folks like Kelly Hogan doing great for over 10 years on mostly hamburger or the Andersons with 20 years of overcoming all inflammatory disease just eating ribeyes, just to name a few, I think of these late-comers as babes in the woods. Animals don't need food charts and blood work to know what to eat and human animals didn't either until "civilization" "enlightened" us with science and folks having to make money off throwing around a lot of Latin. And agriculture.
