I'm so glad for you and Coconut! I'm a retired CVT (certified vet tech), and the turn around you have accomplished with this little girl is amazing. It's obvious you are taking such great care of her! I saw the vet set you up with some Hill's science diet food. That's the best in my book. All my cats are on Science diet. If you're worried about her getting overheated, it's not so hard to learn how to take a cat's temperature. It will be helpful for you also to be able to be able to monitor her pyometra until she is fit enough to get spayed. Just buy a digital thermometer and take her temp rectally. Normal cat temp is 95.5 degrees F to 102.5 F. And it's perfectly normal to keep a pet on antibiotics for an open pyometra until their surgery. I've seen puppy mill rescue breeding dogs have to go through the same type of rehabilitation before they could safety have surgery. Wish you the best! You've made a fan of me. ❤
Thanks heaps, She has now had her surgery and is off the meds, she is almost back to 100% and is just the cutest little thing. Thanks for your advice :-)

Both of you put your whole heart out there for the world to see, you are so genuine in everything that you do. Praying that God will bless you both and cocoa with many happy healthy and prosperous years to come. As always God bless and stay safe out there❤
Thanks heaps for the kind thoughts and words :-) Yea she has a uterus infection that may be tied to her having babies, We are putting together a full health update on Patreon in the next day or two and we will list everything she has and what we are doing to treat it :-) She was at the vet yesterday and is already doing noticeably better from all the stuff the vet gave her :-)
@@yvonneferguson5205 No way we were going to let that happen to her, plus she is such a fighter that she wouldn't let that happen to herself :-) Her chances of making a full recovery are really high now :-)
I remember calling Supernova a "floating caravan." I take that back. I am very sorry, didn't mean to insult her. She's beautiful. Big, and beautiful. As to Coconut, she may not know it, but the gods threw her a lifeline and put you two in her path. Turning around to take her to a vet is epic. I have a dog AND a cat and firmly believe they add focus to my life!
Darcy, you may want to think about installing inline fuel prime pumps on the main pick up lines from the tanks and before the filters, I had a 48 ft cat that had the same problem you are having, as soon as I got into and kind of rough weather that caused the boat to pitch while motoring the engines would shut down or take it in turns to shut down. It was due to the slop in the tanks and the positive pressure changing and I guess the lift pump getting false or changing positive pressure, also picking up debris but the lift pump not having enough suction to pull it through and into the filter. These little cylinder shaped pumps from Volvo inserted in the fuel line and wired to the ignition cured the problem, any debris that was picked up was pushed through into the filter instead of clogging up the line.
Thats a really good idea! We have a fuel polishing system that has a pump on it! We could try using that next time this happens and see if it helps clear it faster. We really need to get into the fuel tank but for that we need to cut the floor in the cockpit and its a really big job, but we will get to it :-)
Love your kindness to Coco! It's possible she got swept out to sea in a storm to end up on that island. 27:08 A company called Ocean Builders is making the SeaPods at Linton Bay. 28:42 Use AIS to see which ships are in motion, their name, size, course and speed, etc.
Dear Sailing Supernova couple. 👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! Coconut the cat is looking sooo much better already. You treated her extremely well. Maybe because her fur is orange, Yvette's second favourite colour!? Imagine what you would've even done if Coco would be pink! 😁 ;-) Of course I'm only joking/kidding. Everyone can see that you two really love the little cutie. By the way: The veterinarian seems to be a great guy. 2) Obviously you need to empty your Diesel tanks completely and give them a really, really good cleaning inside. Until then I suggest that you get some fuel lines with a bit bigger diameter than your current ones. Maybe it's also possible to have a separate fuel line for every engine? I also suggest that you put a filter for bigger dirt particles right after the tank. My third suggestion: Out of my experience you should try to find the outlet for the fuel line (or suction tube) inside the tank. And then try to suck out dirt near this outlet with a not too big clear hose and pump. An auxiliary boat Diesel tank for avoiding dangerous situations seems a good idea too. Just like one of those red plastic ones used in dinghys. With this you might be able to restart a starved engine in 2 minutes. 3) I'm happy to see that you found a great marine shop/store. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all 3 of you.
Darcy wants to put two 3/4 inch fuel lines for each engine, but to do that we need to cut a huge hole in the cockpit fiberglass, we want to do that but its a huge job that we need to get ready for and it will take a bit to get done. If Coconut was pink then it would have been a set up for sure haha
How did you guys stay so calm with both motors shutting down? It’s just crazy to me how far you have come. i would have been freaking out. But then again I’m not as cool as a cucumber. Coco looks way better than last week I’m so happy she got help
Haha for some reason we were just sure it was the same problem as 8 months ago in Alaska. We had some great comments on that video that gave us a bunch of ideas on how to fix the problem faster if it happened again. So we had a plan and we had bought the stuff we would need if it happened again. Then everything kind of went to plan for once haha. I'm sure you would do better then you think you would :-)
Thank you for rescuing Coco. Its a real measure of good people when you can do that. Truly thank you for giving Coco a future besides the starvation, sickness, and death she faced being stranded on that island.
It's amazing! God just sent you two to that Island to rescue that kitty. As my grandma says he will get extra stars on your Halo in heaven❤😊 team Coco!
I never tie on going to shore, I have to often grab a paddle to avoid reefs, pull up the outboard, jump out and pull ashore. So many things where tying on is not worth it. If sailing out to the boat. I tie on until I power down for boarding. I also have two dogs and have had to get out quick to avoid a chase.... If I fall out going to shore, my dingy won't get very far or go around in circles.
As usual another great video Guys !!!😻 First- I had the same fuel problem as you have and it would happen about every 6 months for about 3 years and this other cruiser gentleman told me that had the same problem before and he installed a Racor filter system between the fuel tank and his twist on filter and has been problem free since!!! (5years) and I did the same and also been problem free😊 just an idea to ponder Second- My 2 feline deckhands have never watched any videos with me ever😢 But since Coconut made her presence and meowed !! Nugget and Spazzy actually watched both videos😮 go figure??? Anyways still loving you two❤ from just a old dude from Pender Harbour 😎👍☮️🇨🇦
At first We thought it was the filters, we do have two on each engine, but it is the fuel pick up line, we only have a single pick up line that splits and goes to both engines. We need to cut the cockpit floor and put in two oversized fuel pick up lines, we have to order parts for this to happen. Its so cool that Nugget and Spazzy are watching with you! Give them another treat and a cuddle for us :-)
You guys are just awesome, I am your newest subscriber, the first video I watched was the coco rescue, I think UA-cam suggested it because I watch a lot of cat rescue videos but this one is absolutely crazy nothing short of a miracle she found you I will definitely go back and watch your videos from the beginning because I think you are both lovely people very kind and honest and what you have done for coconut really touched me also I think it's a very cool name for a cat and very fitting considering where you found her. I wonder where she came from and how she ended up starving and alone on the island but I know what her story is going to be with you both and that really makes me smile so thank you for being awesome I look forward to seeing your adventures, best wishes from David in England PS i love sailing and cats so 😊
Thanks heaps for the great message :-) We are not sure how she got there, but we are so happy we have found her. I hope you can enjoy more of our videos, we make them for people to enjoy and we are so happy when we get messages like this one :-)
Diagnoses is key. If you get air in your full lines from your tank,it seems to be after rough seas. My first thought would be you may not have baffles in your fuel thank. The fuel shushing around from the bottom to the top of the tank it allows air to get into the lines. It's common on signal hull boats when healing and hobby housing. With a fuel tank with no baffles, and with full tanks you won't get air in the lines. But when the tanks are getting low in fuel getting air can happen . Baffles help stop the fuel from slushing/ bouncing around when there is less fuel in the tanks.
Thanks for the advice, We will double check that. We are pretty sure its a blocked fuel pick up line, we are going to order parts to put a clean out in the fuel tank. we need to cut the cockpit fiberglass to get at the fuel tank though
@@sailing.supernova Hello, I have worked with diesel engines for over 50 years. I think that if you cleared the problem by blowing the pipe backwards ie, into the tank, it will be dirt blocking the pipe in the tank? By Dirt I mean small fibers that come together to form a big enough ball to block the pick up pipe. I had one large tank where someone put paper toweling in and it was a big job . if you get the pun? but I have had regular blocked tanks without finger filters just with small amounts of fluff. blowing back is usually the quickest way to clear the blockage but you put the fluff back into the tank?? Having an emergency tank and the means of connecting it quickly is handy as the excess return pipe can remain connected to the fuel tank that is blocked? another thing you can do is to make more small holes in the bottom of the pick up pipe but you need to keep your tanks full enough that air never gets into them??
Rough weather + both engines die = dirty fuel . That is a maintenance issue . You need to fix these things before they become a problem . Your maintenance consists of dealing with breakdowns not preventing them . The tank needs cleaning Tip for blowing out the lines - use your air horn ,noisy but effective .
Thanks for the tip :-) For us to clean the tank we need to cut a big hole in the cockpit floor, we are planning to do that a bit later on, but it will be a big job :-)
Awwee yall are just the best! Cocoa is just a beaut! I would deff put a damp towel in the Carrier for her to sleep in while sailing. She will feel safe in a hidey bed like carrier..
We will do that next time for sure, thanks for the advice :-) We sent you an email with links and instructions on how to watch the Patreon videos, did you get it ?
@@sailing.supernova hi guys! Yes and been trying to watch! Right now I'm trying to make and save every penny so I can "sea" y'all out there one day! I am usually a binge watcher so I'll get caught up soon!
Just thought I would let you know, you are in the Caribbean Sea, not the Atlantic Ocean. Love that you are taking care of the kitty. Just worry as to if you can leave the country with her.
Haha we may need to spruce up on our geography :-) We have started to get the paperwork we need to make sure we can take Coco with us, I can promise you there is no way we are leaving her behind in Panama :-)
Just FYI on tablet medication for pets, get a pill crusher. It's way easier to hide in wet food if it's powdered. It's also nice to know that the cat distribution system is still functional.

So uterine infections are called pyometra. There are closed and open pyos. Closed just contains any discharge whereas the open allows the infection to drain. Either way spaying needs to be done. If she becomes lethargic stops eating or is vomiting right back to the vet. Canned food is best for cats. You can go online and figure what a kitty her sizes should have per day. Leaving a little dry out for her is fine and measure what you give. Overweight cats can become diabetic. Sorry for the lesson. I saw other people commenting and I really enjoy educating. I’m a retired licensed veterinary tech. You guys caught me with the castaway title. I probably would have skipped by otherwise. I’m very scared of the water especially as I don’t swim and have minimal boat travel as I always try to avoid it. Has always been on lakes or rivers. Seeing you bobbing around in open water with no engines almost gave me a panic attack. However I really enjoy sailing with you guys. It is beautiful as long as I don’t have to have live experience. Also interesting all the work to maintain the boat. Be safe! No raw meat! Can carry salmonella which is bad for everyone. Cat food is formulated with the vitamins and especially taurine which cats need. Much safer. There are many reputable sources online. Veterinary schools usually have good info as well as some of the corporate vets. Also many vet clinics are happy to provide info
Thanks heaps for all the advice! We had the right antibiotics on board and she was put on a massive dose (about 2 times what a normal cat would go on) and she took them for 21 days. then we got to the vet and he said that we should wait to get her spayed, he said she was very under weight and may not live if she had the operation now. So thats kinda where we are at now. We have completely changed our plans and are making sure Coco is 100% healthy before we go on, lucky we are in such a nice place to kill some time :-) The water is where we feel at home, so when things go wrong we tend to stay calm, but we can see how it would be scary. If you every wanted to fight your fear try a cruse ship in Alaska, its so amazing up there and land is always close, till then we are happy to put it cool videos every week :-)
Thanks so much for the support for Coco! it means a lot! Coco is doing so well now, she even has a little belly and she spends 6 hours a day cleaning it haha, she is just so cute :-)

Great suggestion! We also want to get a separate fuel pick up line for each motor, and a way to clean our fuel tanks. Thanks for the kind words and great advice :-)
The Wynn's had issues with Singa because he was full or part Bengal, which is a specific breed that is not allowed. The process isn't easy, but they will need an import permit before heading to Australia.
I think someone had kittens on a sailboat, as they got bigger they explored more the deck, this kitten most likely fell off from A boat and swim her way to shore.

Praying that God will bless you both and cocoa with many happy healthy and prosperous years to come. As always God bless and stay safe out there❤
Thanks heaps for the kind thoughts and words :-)
Yea she has a uterus infection that may be tied to her having babies, We are putting together a full health update on Patreon in the next day or two and we will list everything she has and what we are doing to treat it :-)
She was at the vet yesterday and is already doing noticeably better from all the stuff the vet gave her :-)
Great job!! She looks soooo much better. I thought she wasn't going to make it and I didn't want to see Yvette heart broken. Bravo to you both!!🥳
@@yvonneferguson5205 No way we were going to let that happen to her, plus she is such a fighter that she wouldn't let that happen to herself :-)
Her chances of making a full recovery are really high now :-)
I remember calling Supernova a "floating caravan." I take that back.
All good, Supernova is a work in progress for sure... for the next bit most jobs will have something to do with cat safety hahaha :-)
So glad Coco is doing better I remember when my kitten adopted me.
its funny how people think they pick cats, when really cats pick them :-)
Darcy, you may want to think about installing inline fuel prime pumps on the main pick up lines from the tanks and before the filters, I had a 48 ft cat that had the same problem you are having, as soon as I got into and kind of rough weather that caused the boat to pitch while motoring the engines would shut down or take it in turns to shut down.
We really need to get into the fuel tank but for that we need to cut the floor in the cockpit and its a really big job, but we will get to it :-)
Her serene demeanor and gentle nature evoke tears of joy at the sight of her.
yea she is a big time cutie, its crazy how much she likes cuddles :-)
Awww, the love you are showing Coconut says so much about who you are. Thank you for caring for her. Safe travels. ❤
It was the right thing to do :-) plus we get the best Coconut cuddles now :-)
Love you three, subed! 76 just retired so I'll be binge watching and catch up soon!
Hope the Binge has gone well, feel free to comment with any questions you may have on the older videos and we will do our best to answer them :-)
*A little snack for Coco. It's very telling about people in how they treat animals.😻 Liked, subbed, bell engaged...*
Thanks heaps Steve! its a good thing Coco needs to put on weight with all the treats she is getting :-)
Coco is a very lucky kitty. 💖🤗
Coco said we were lucky because we get Coco cuddles.... and seeing as how she is Captain Coconut we have to say she is right :-)
Thanks for sharing her medical details. Very interesting.
No problem :-)
We share everything that is going on so if it happens it will be up here at some point :-)
Love your kindness to Coco! It's possible she got swept out to sea in a storm to end up on that island.
27:08 A company called Ocean Builders is making the SeaPods at Linton Bay.
28:42 Use AIS to see which ships are in motion, their name, size, course and speed, etc.
Thanks heaps for the kind words and advice :-)
Those pods are super cool!
We need to get our AIS hooked up to our chart plotter :-)
I'm sure you would do better then you think you would :-)
Coco the castaway cat is one lucky little bugger. She loves you guys and it shows.
Yea she is such a little cutie pie! she is getting used to life on the boat and is even starting to get a bit of a belly :-)
Thank you for rescuing Coco. Its a real measure of good people when you can do that. Truly thank you for giving Coco a future besides the starvation, sickness, and death she faced being stranded on that island.
It was the thing to do, plus now we have a super cute captain :-)
So cute at the end, seeing Coco being pampered 🥰
She needed a bit of love :-)
It's amazing! God just sent you two to that Island to rescue that kitty. As my grandma says he will get extra stars on your Halo in heaven❤😊 team Coco!
Thanks heaps, We are so happy to have her on board, she is just the cutest little thing :-)
Perfect now you will have a use for the Bonito you catch.
Gonna be a fat cat 😆
haha we will for sure!
She's so lucky to find you!
^..^~~
Really happy you are enjoying the videos :-)
I've only just found you, when you found Coco. Are you a Kiwi ? NZ er???? Watching from Bay of Islands, NZ.
No, maybe I've picked up on a couple of Aussie vowels 😂😂😂
Got it on the 2nd guess haha, I'm from Australia and Darcy is from Canada :-)
I never tie on going to shore, I have to often grab a paddle to avoid reefs, pull up the outboard, jump out and pull ashore. So many things where tying on is not worth it. If sailing out to the boat. I tie on until I power down for boarding. I also have two dogs and have had to get out quick to avoid a chase.... If I fall out going to shore, my dingy won't get very far or go around in circles.
Thats a very good point!
Thanks for that advice :-)
Can I be your second kitty crew member? Meewww! So happy for Coconut. What a huge 180 for her entire life! I hope you are keeping your new co-pilot.
We are keeping her for sure! She is already making us call her Captain Coconut haha
Lucky baby (coco) came to you guys (angel),,,,❤❤❤❤,,and mama and baby same hair 🤭🤭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️...love coco 🥰😍🥰😍
Her life has definitely taken a turn for the better.
She is having a great time now! she even has a bit of a belly :-)
Thanks! Great video love the new addition to your family
Thanks heaps for the support :-)
Awsome, all our cats are rescues. Happy sailing Coconut !
Thanks for helping rescues :-) you are the best !
You guys are good honest people.
Thanks heaps :-)
Give them another treat and a cuddle for us :-)
You guys are just awesome, I am your newest subscriber, the first video I watched was the coco rescue, I think UA-cam suggested it because I watch a lot of cat rescue videos but this one is absolutely crazy nothing short of a miracle she found you
I will definitely go back and watch your videos from the beginning because I think you are both lovely people very kind and honest and what you have done for coconut really touched me also I think it's a very cool name for a cat and very fitting considering where you found her. I wonder where she came from and how she ended up starving and alone on the island but I know what her story is going to be with you both and that really makes me smile so thank you for being awesome I look forward to seeing your adventures, best wishes from David in England PS i love sailing and cats so 😊
Thanks heaps for the great message :-)
We are not sure how she got there, but we are so happy we have found her.
I hope you can enjoy more of our videos, we make them for people to enjoy and we are so happy when we get messages like this one :-)
So great of you to do this for your new crew! Kitties are wonderful. And so are you.
We named her Captain, and Captain Coconut made the call to go to the vet so we had no choice but to listen :-)
She is looking so good!!♥♥♥
She is doing so well!
Thanks!
Thanks heaps for the support:-)
Supernova looks gorgeous in those drone shots and so does princess Coco 💖
Thanks heaps, took a bunch of practice and one cut thumb, but I think I'm starting get the hang of it :-)
@@sailing.supernova cut thumb? Catching it? Looks great though; next challenge, drone while sailing 😅💖
what a lucky kitty.
She did just about win the lotto haha
Coco is a happy content little kitty, she’s so lucky to have you both!!
We are very lucky to have her too :-) she gives the best cuddles :-)
Rough weather + both engines die = dirty fuel . That is a maintenance issue . You need to fix these things before they become a problem .
Your maintenance consists of dealing with breakdowns not preventing them . The tank needs cleaning
Tip for blowing out the lines - use your air horn ,noisy but effective .
Thanks for the tip :-)
For us to clean the tank we need to cut a big hole in the cockpit floor, we are planning to do that a bit later on, but it will be a big job :-)
Sailing Parlay did a lot of their repairs at Litton Bay Boatyard
haha no way! We were thinking that this place looked familiar! We watch all there videos :-)
Awwee yall are just the best! Cocoa is just a beaut! I would deff put a damp towel in the Carrier for her to sleep in while sailing. She will feel safe in a hidey bed like carrier..
We will do that next time for sure, thanks for the advice :-)
We sent you an email with links and instructions on how to watch the Patreon videos, did you get it ?
@@sailing.supernova hi guys! Yes and been trying to watch! Right now I'm trying to make and save every penny so I can "sea" y'all out there one day! I am usually a binge watcher so I'll get caught up soon!
Im here for coco

That's the cutest crew member I've ever seen and has such a long tail.❤❤
Her tail is so long, her legs to, but everything else on her is so small lol
Thanks guys, GO COCO. 👍🏻💕🐾
Thanks heaps for the support :-)
Just thought I would let you know, you are in the Caribbean Sea, not the Atlantic Ocean. Love that you are taking care of the kitty. Just worry as to if you can leave the country with her.
Haha we may need to spruce up on our geography :-)
We have started to get the paperwork we need to make sure we can take Coco with us, I can promise you there is no way we are leaving her behind in Panama :-)
She is so sweet. We have 4 recue kitties and we love them to pieces. Coco is just precious. You are my new heros and I am your new subscriber.😊
Thanks heaps! We love her too! and thanks for doing your part and saving the kitties :-)
Just FYI on tablet medication for pets, get a pill crusher. It's way easier to hide in wet food if it's powdered. It's also nice to know that the cat distribution system is still functional.
Thanks heaps for the advice :-) We got lucky with Coconut for sure. She is such a cutie :-)
Such a cool cat.
Thanks heaps, She is very sweet :-)
You people are awesome! Keep working on the technical gremlins on the boat, and eventually you will iron everything out. Great stuff!
Thanks heaps!
We will get everything in ship shape at some point... pun intended haha
She will need worming for sure lovely cat and yes watch out for the heat cats are extremely vulnerable to it
She is reacting well to everything she has had to take, she is almost off all her meds :-)
Hello from Australia..I just found your video and saw you save the puddy tat coconut so I subscribed, I thought how caring of you both..I don't even know your names yet im totally new to your channel..il be watching every video now ..thankyou both and coconut ❤❤❤❤❤

Good job on the anchor remote, Darcy!
He says thanks. I'm lucky that guy can fix almost anything :-)
We have completely changed our plans and are making sure Coco is 100% healthy before we go on, lucky we are in such a nice place to kill some time :-)
The water is where we feel at home, so when things go wrong we tend to stay calm, but we can see how it would be scary. If you every wanted to fight your fear try a cruse ship in Alaska, its so amazing up there and land is always close, till then we are happy to put it cool videos every week :-)
Obrigado!
Thanks so much for the support for Coco! it means a lot!
Coco is doing so well now, she even has a little belly and she spends 6 hours a day cleaning it haha, she is just so cute :-)

I have been following this couple since the beginning and they really are that smiley and happy.. it’s not just a video thing. Even when things go wrong they still just smile and fix the problem. They make me smile every week
Thanks for the kind words, We are really happy 99% of the time so we smile 99% of the time. there is the odd time where we don't haha

great video! Love the cameos with Coco, respectfully suggesting a 12v priming pump.
Great suggestion! We also want to get a separate fuel pick up line for each motor, and a way to clean our fuel tanks.
Thanks for the kind words and great advice :-)
😊more cat vids 😊 coco is such an awsome cat
Lots of Coco in the video coming out this Friday, She is doing well :-) it was her first time with the sails up :-)
I dont know if you intend crossing to Figi or Tonga .... . But there may be problems with Cleo as Gone with the Wynns found .
The Wynn's had issues with Singa because he was full or part Bengal, which is a specific breed that is not allowed. The process isn't easy, but they will need an import permit before heading to Australia.
We are going to get all the right pet passports for Coco and we will have to see when we get out to the south pacific.
I think someone had kittens on a sailboat, as they got bigger they explored more the deck, this kitten most likely fell off from
A boat and swim her way to shore.
We are not sure how she got there. We are just happy we found her when we did :-)
