  • Boat jobs are ongoing and we make the most of our time at a marina to get some much needed work done. But then the fleet of the Round The World Clipper Race rock up and we go to check them out. We hopped on board the massive PSP Logistics Clipper and took a tour. We had some great chats with the crew, heard crazy stories from their voyage so far and we are now following along with the rest of the race as they make their way back up to the UK.
    Boat tour mainly provided by: Lorenzo - check his Instagram here to follow along: theoceanpac...
    Check them out on UA-cam: ‪@ClipperRTW‬

    Ya, 16ga would not be big enough for an AC. Also, you had it coiled, which I believe will cause even more heat.
    I'd also check the gauge of the supply wire to the socket behind the TV. You wouldn't want that overheating.
    For the starlink, a couple of small guide wires to either side should suffice.
    Excellent video, thanks for sharing....although a little light on coconut content! 🤣

    Darci and Yvette I am happy with the new cord, it is much safer, the blue cord was also too long and the way it lay on the table forms a coil and a coil gives magnetic energy, so also heat and that is dangerous, never a place a long cord in loops on or next to each other.
    If an extension cord is used, always unwind it completely.

      She is doing great! she was on about 5 different drugs so she wasn't feeling to hot, but she is down to just one and putting on weight, we have got a bunch of food and tons of treats and toys, she is just staring to gain a bit of interest in her toys as she starts to feel better. We have a vet appointment for around a month from now, she may get her surgery then or she may still have to wait a bit. Right now she really just wants to cuddle all day so its been hard to get boat work done :-)

    You guys are incredibly inspiring. You renovated a craft, sailed through dangerous weather and learned to fix engines, and, still seem to love each other. My husband and I were pistols at dawn over a new kitchen. Oh, and you rescue a dying cat,
    Lots of love from down under. PS, Yvette, is Sydney on your itinerary? 12:41

      Thanks heaps for the kind words :-)
      It has been a very full 11 months but we both needed each other to make it happen so it could not have been pistols at dawn haha, maybe if we knew what we were doing more we would have stronger opinions on what the other is doing wrong haha!
      I used to live in Sydney! i loved it there, but as you may be able to tell i have the travel bug haha

    Good idea on the shorter heavier cord. You never want to coil up the extension cord and plug it in. You actually create an electrical coil which will generate heat.

    2) I'm not really interested in monohulls. I definitely wouldn't want all that aslant sailing and I cannot understand why anyone would want it. Nevertheless there are way more monohulls existing than comfortable and more spacey catamarans and trimarans.
    Best regards, luck and especially health to all 3 of you.

    PS- you want to check that your outlet itself and the wire to it is rated for the correct amperage. Otherwise you can damage your AC and overheat the wire in the wall.

Went to ditch rubbish three decks up big wave hit ended up hanging on the rails over the side. Lucky a wave washed me back onboard. If you go down that far be very very careful with weather.

    The reason your extension cable got hot is because it was coiled up. You should never use a lead coiled with 240v/120v or it will surely heat up and possibly burn.
    Always unroll the cables when using them.
    Cheers.

    I didn't see any kind of liner/buffer between the solar panel power lines and the hole you drilled to bring them into the helm station. I hope I just missed it, but if not.... If those lines get chaffed you will have a real fire hazard.

  • @_Daio_
    @_Daio_ Місяць тому +1

    Coiled wire will get hot under load, That's why a modern extension lead will tell you the maximum load when coiled and uncoiled. I'm not saying that cable Is adequate for the load, but most of the heat would have been generated from that coil.

    • @sailing.supernova

    US Army Corp of Engineers was instrumental in the design and construction of the Panama 🇵🇦 Canal they were not oppressors of forcing anyone to build it for them….Kinda an ignorant comment to make considering how many Nations World Wide Depend on this passage!!!!

    • @sailing.supernova
      @sailing.supernova  Місяць тому

      We are not saying it wasn't a huge achievement in human history, But there was over 5000 recorded deaths on the project while the USA was in charge of construction, and many people lost arms and legs with nothing being given in terms of fair compensation, The Canal was built on the backs of contract workers with very few rights. again it was a huge achievement, but it came with a huge human cost.
