Thank you for this very informative video. I was considering a KB for my 95 for years but a few years back I started leaning more towards a turbo setup.
This was great. I have a 95 gt I bought new, Had the Kenny bell blowzilla installed in 2002. This last year I had trick flow heads and a comp cam installed. The car ran good before but now its like a whole new car. I dont drive it very much. it just turned 41000 miles. Im glad i found a good shop to install all of this. They were having the same problem with the stock valve covers fitting the new heads. Trick flow sells stock height valve covers that fit perfectly so they didnt have the issue with them hitting the blower. Of all the mods Ive done, the Kenne Bell has been my favorite mod so far.
This video was extremely informative! Unfortunately it has steered me away from this blower setup 😔😔. I really love the sounds and low end torque these blowers make but its not worth the headache. I really wish they hadn't stopped making them. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain the pros and cons🙏🙏🙏
Well done video🏆 I've wanted to have one of these superchargers since i got my first 95 GT back in 2011. In 2013, i started a rotisserie restoration that late 6 years. I'm now rocking a Ford racing, aluminum 427, 351w R Trickflow upper and lower, AFR 205 heads and a .600 lift bullet cam. I'm also running a MS2 PNP GEN2 for engine management. Now that I'm watching this video, i think going turbo would be best should i decide on boost. Thanks for your work informing the ppl💪😎
That's good power, but seems like a blower should make more. Is there a restriction anywhere in the induction? 360 whp is attainable these days NA with the right setup. It's not common, and won't have the torque curve of the KB, but it just seems like your combination with trickflow heads would make >>400 whp.
They started making them again for the 87-93 Mustangs. AFM has a tuner kit for ~5.5k. It is a completely new system, but was told (by the designer I spoke with at KB) that it wouldn't support much more than 500HP...which I find hard to believe as there have been dynos where the 2.1s have achieved higher. I want one for my 368 (AFR 205s/custom cam). This kit should also work on the SN95s with the same elbow/accessory requirements/replacements.
Tps motorsports now offers the set up again, only problem is its for up to a 93 I was gonna order 1 luckily I found your video and now know the snouts are different and it won't work on my 94 cobra. Which sucks!
Bring back the sixer! Or start another sn95 build, videos like backseat deletes and suspension installs were interesting and itd be nice to see another linear project. Maybe a newedge sn95? That would definitely be awesome!
You know....I was really consitering one of these for my 94 Gt, Im glad I saw this video, because this is honestly more than I want to get into, are there any twin screw superchargers out there that I can Use besides this one, that may not have all the inconveniences? Because I know the really comkon super chargers for these are the centrafugal ones, But if they are out there, I would love a twinscrew or roots style super charger for my 5.0
Thanks for all your info. Not too long ago i almost purchased one from the auto forums. I am Soo glad I dint, main reason is because the seller was sounding shady, the gt40 placement shed some light regarding how incompatible this system really is. If Kenne Bell decides to produce some batches of this supercharger again? Id jump on it, but purchasing used? No thank you.
Very informative video, thank you. Can't beat the sound of the positive displacement blower

Great vid! Man I love my 3.6KenneBell! You’re rite they sounds they best even at idle people swear I have a Turbo! Lol, but my engine popped sent a piece of piston into the rotors locking it up. I sent it to them they rebuilt it very reasonably for me. Unfortunately something came loose in the very rear of the shafts and caused a bearing sound then a rattle. They are taking care of it for me tho! Carlos at KenneBell is a great man and is a big help! KenneBell looks the best sounds the Best and to me runs the best or as good as Whipple the next best.
I have always wanted to do the M90 Supercharger for my V6. I have seen it done before and it performs great. I love that whinging sound of a supercharger, I do prefer it over turbo sounds.
To much work to make it work, you got to make a custom intake/plate and put it in the right place to have the proper pulley alignment. And then you still have the issue where you don’t have the intercooler like he mentioned. To me your better off buying a turbo kit from on3 or a centrifugal unless you find one of these used
Appreciate your video. Can you touch the subject of basic supercharger setup like forged pistons, spark plug gapping and camshaft selection with low or no overlap please? I had a Blowzilla in my SN95 with bad results cuz of the E303 I had on it. Thanks!
Hi there, great question, I had to check my reference books again just to refresh. No, '96 Cobra kit would not work on a 2003 Mach 1. A 1996 Cobra has the "B" series head which has two separate intake ports per cylinder, the 2003 has the "Tumble Port" head which is a single port per intake which would not match up. - Darren
If your Kenne Bell came with a chip, it should install just like any other, by using the J3 service port. GTC does not have a video ready for this topic yet, but you should be able to find the how-to with a few clicks of google. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren
since these are long out of production, you are almost exclusively limited to the used market. Places like ebay, craigslist, and Facebook are going to be the most likely spots to discover them for sale. they are borderline collector's items now and most sellers want a lot of money for a piece that may have non-repairable issues so there is some risk. As a non-sponsored comment, I do still recommend the Vortech series of blowers for reliable supercharging with post sale service and support. If you are really set on a KB for your car, I invite you to join the "SN95 94-95 Mustang Owners" group on Facebook and post in the Buy sell and Trade page to see if anyone has any leads. Thanks for watching and your comment, best of luck on your search and let me know if you have any other questions along the way. - Darren
I have a question, can I fit the blower on without putting the belt on? I wanna use it on a fresh block so I don't wanna hit any boost for the first 500 miles. But I don't have the upper intake manifold to use it in the break in period. And I noticed you could manually play with the bypass valve on your unit.. so is it possible?
You can fit the the blower without a belt, but it's only recommended in the manual for emergency situations, the engine would be horribly choked for air without the blower spinning. If you ran the car with the bypass forced open, it can stll generate boost just not as much, which is still no recommended. I would either source an upper manifold for break in, or run it with the blower, there isn't really any harm in doing so. Factory blower cars like SVT Cobras, Shelby GT500's and SVT Lightnings all had the blowers in place for break in when new and they are good to go. Thans for watching and commenting! - Darren

Yes it is! I don't run it personally, but I know of other users that have successfully run a KB blower with meth injection as a means of getting around the no intercooler issue. It can be a bit of a game though, the power output on meth vs good fuel alone is debatable. Check out the tests on blowers with and without meth injection done by reputable sources like engine masters etc. and draw your own conclusions. I think there is a good number of reasons why meth injection has fallen out of favor compared to alternatives like E85 in recent years. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren

Very informative video. How did you do the fox 90mm throttle body conversion, intake pipe, and mass air setup? What did you do for tuning?
What about fitting an Eaton M90 on a 302? They run like $150 used

Why can you not use a adjustable fpr?
I’m in the process of buying one of these on my 1995 Ford lightning. Do you think it’s worth it? Can I run it without MAF?

Can this be installed on a 1990 Ford 150 302?
Looking at a Kenny bell super charger for my 03 mach 1. Would one for a 96 cobra fit
