I will say, when buying paper here, a lot of places do actually use the A4 type but it just depends. There are like 80 different sizes of paper.

13:43 you left New Zealand off the map. Also when I went to the Japanese embassy in Wellington this year they said they were annoyed at all the people asking for flags which was kind of funny since I knew why it was happening.

All the English speaking world had this paper size system (- foolscap , quarto etc ) but all except the US now use the metric { ? } system paper sizes ( A4 instead of foolscap for eg )

We actually have the sizes available everywhere else in the world BUT you have to go to specialized stores in order for them to know wtf you're talking about.
I had to go to special art stores,or specialized paper/stationary stores when I was an art student in order to get the correct paper or notebooks I needed.
So if you go to like Office Depot they'll just look at you weird but if you go to someplace like Allard's they'll know exactly what it is you want.

As someone who has been always fascinated by heraldry and flags, I find your videos about flag collecting very interesting and inspiring because i have never collected actual flags. After watching part 1 i thought it would be a good way to start my own collection, While watching part 2, I have realized that it is, in fact, not so. So, I thought it would be cool to send you a flag of ukraine because our officials didnt, and ukraine is where i’m originally from. But in the middle of part 2 it was clear that i’m late here too.
Therefore, Let me send you a flag of the odesa region (AKA oblast) when i was born and raised. Odesa region is the largest oblast in ukraine by land and home to the city of odesa and the odessa catacombs. Which is the lergest catacombs in the world. Odesa is one of the most beautiful cities in ukraine and maybe whole europe.

10:26 I did some googling and it appears both paper systems evolved at around the same time. US 8.5x11 was invented in 1921 and standardized in 1980, while A4 was standardized in 1975 but based on a German standard from 1922. So I don’t think one system copied/modified the other, they just independently developed at the same time.
Well, but the point of the DIN A system is that it is, just like the metric system, objectively better/more practical to use than the one the US uses. That's why so many countries internationally use it. In the DIN A norm, every size of paper has the same proportions, And every size is half the size of the one before (A5 is half of A4, or if you fold an A4 in half, you get A5)
