There are two scenarios where we Germans are patriotic:
    1. On the internet. You probably have experienced this before, we really like bringing up the fact that we are German online.
    2. Football. You will never see a German flag flying except on government buildings and the occasional proud German's garden. Unless there is an international football event happening, like the world or European cup. The whole country will shine in black, red, and gold.

    1. Add 'Ge' to the beginning of the word
    2. Add 'ch' after a 's' to get 'sch'

Also the labour market is so competitive and saturated in France that people would do anything to have a job and keeping it, like working more hours for free and without declaring them. It’s even in the tradition of desk jobs to not leave until the boss does.

English lesson #102: "How to pronounce 'ough'"
teacher: "This is really straight forward. There are just seven commonly possible pronunciations according to the ISO 15924 IPA. They are
      1. /ɔ:t/
      2. /ɒf/
      3. /ʌf/
      4. /əʊ/
      5. /u:/
      6. /ə/
      7. /aʊ/"
      teacher: "Any remaining questions?"
random Chinese guy: "Are those all existing because of local dialects?"
teacher: "No, they are based on context and the word as a whole."
random Chinese guy: "Well, that's stupid and so complicated. Much better to have around 87k different characters just for some few hundred syllables that we pronounce in dozens of ways each, including many homophones, so almost no one will be able to remember, let alone write all of them."
      teacher: …

@@JustAToeBee Notable exceptions include Korean Han’gŭl (which my nick is written in despite non-Asian heritage) and all those languages that just use some script like Arabic, Latin or Devanagari. Though generally most Alphabet-based scripts have many more exceptions to their pronunciation than say Chinese writing.
Yes, in Asia you generally need to know a lot of scripts to get by in the local languages unlike Europe or the Americas and even most of Northern and Southern Africa respectively where you can just use Latin script (or Arabic for Northern Africa and ME).
