back from the dead made its way onto my phone this week (I am a bonafied physical copy owner since it came out!) and damn its fucking heavy. its not *just* about how fast or how slow you can play, that's for fucking sure ..
Donald Tardy seems like such a righteous dude. He certainly has a righteous groove behind the kit. It behooves every death metal drummer to incorporate Donald's sense of restraint. He always lets the riffs breath. And every band should try going _sans-metronome_ for awhile. Obituary always had a push/pull on the tempos in their songs. It's part of what makes early death metal sound so brutal even today.
I grew up in Clearwater/Tampa and used tp see these guys in clubs back in the day. They are still kicking ass, and the newest album demonstrates that perfectly.
@@jasonwhite6368~ Yes for sure🤘I’m Canadian & grew up listening to a few kick ass Canadian metal/punk bands such as (Sacrifice-Voivod-RaZoR-Exciter-Helix-Anvil-Killer Dwarfs-Annihilator-Quo Vadis-Varga-Dayglo Abortions-D.O.A.-Monster Voodoo Machine Etc.) I live in London,Ontario,Canada & remember seeing “Obituary” at the old “Embassy Hotel” in 1997 on their “Back From The Dead” album tour.
Saw them two months ago at Gas Monkey in Dallas. Some stand-up guys I tell you. Trevor promised my friend a pick before the show and handed him a pick personally at the end of the set. Guys are humble and kick some fuckin ass.
Its great that they record guitar riffs when they play them . theres times I came up with some awesome riffs and then 2 or 3 hours later forget them and could never remember the riffs that I thought of .
This is what I grew up with , 15 -16 in high school ,seeing the with malevolent creation and cannibal at the hangman's ball tour at the cameo theater on miami beach back in like 92-93....and at Summers on the beach!!! This was my life back then and I wouldn't trade it for anything , I still have a ticket with Trevor's and John's autograph from the Sumner's show
Now in quarantine im bored as fuck, so i decided to youtube me some Obituary. Found these guys around 1990 when End Complete was out. Been a fan ever since, seen them 4 times only tho. Thx for posting the vid. Awesome ppl.
Got Slowly We Rot in 89 as a 13yr old and instantly got into Obituary, along with Death (RIP Chuck)m Morbid Angel, ETC. Got into Darkthone when Blaze came out in late 91, as the Death Metal scene got too "colourful" with boardshorts, pink T-shirts and shit. Grew up, got into mainstream rock, hard rock, 60s/70s stuff, but I always did keep a soft spot for those three bands. Something about the old rock style groove they had compared to most other extreme metal bands. Trevor, and Chuck from Death were always my favourite musicians in the scene, cool guys with down to earth non-PC attitudes. Trevor was always the coolest looking guy too; resembling a skull with those cheek bones and that shifty gaze.
Brilliant! Thanks guys for the years of pleasure you have given me, Will be seeing you again soon in Manchester (UK) and also Munich (Germany) when you support Slayer - cannot wait!
I'm a child of the 80s and early 90s punk/ heavy metal scene and was given a second hand Fender Stratocaster when I was 10. It was awesome and all but I didn't think there was any way to get a brutal tone out of it. Then I was introduced to Trevor Perez and Obituary 🔥🤘🔥🍻
Great interview..those guys were my first show.1992 or 1993,Houston,Texas, backstage ( name of the club), Obituary,Napalm death,dismember..my mind was blown,I was instantly hooked..
Late 90or early 91 jipping skool we had 2walk man's with practice what you preach and c.o.d,its was 90 because souls of black came out like 2months later. That's the first time I heard both bands, I remember seeing green house effects to shirts, but didn't know testament either, so long ago, yet so short for a life
"i love all the OSDM stuff. Obituary are one of the best in that field for sure. Pure groove and savagery that I can't get enough of. Everything to the guitar tone to the drums, bass, and John's vox just hit like a ton of boiling madness. There's not an album of theirs I don't like.
What an amazing band Obituary is with this unique heavy as hell unmissable sound they managed to keep and evolve over the decades!!!👍 PS they seems to be so down to Earth but with the only one downside: I have heard they support Trump.
I hope the 11th album that they're working on right now after the self-titled obituary album is better than that album I really wasn't that impressed with the self-titled album new a few songs I really got into but the rest I just it wasn't as heavy and brutal as Inked in blood
"it's awesome that so many people love what you put out"... I've been going at it for 13 years solo, releasing album after album and I'm lucky if I can get 400 views in 8 years. I play guitar, do bass, play drums, and sing. I have eight different death metal vocal styles that I can use, including a John Tardy ripoff voice. Guess it's just meant to stay underground. 🤘
@@MANGRINDER_band_ Thank you. Yes, I usually start with a drum track, then do my guitar tracks, then my bass tracking, and then taking some cool lyrics and roll with some vocals... The hardest part is being happy with the vocals at that point and the mix coming out decent. I design my own band logo and piece together my own album stuff and all of that as well.

Obituary is so musical, and dark. Such good expressive soulful playin. Love these guys, true members of the art.
Most brutal live sound I ever witnessed, unbelievable.

These guys are the real deal. Real musicians that are still together as a band unit. Creating true heavy music.
That was so cool when Trevor Peres mentioned the Canadian thrash band,”SACRIFICE” 🤘 “Sacrifice” ~ “Soldiers Of Misfortune” is a face melter!
Torment in fire.
