Do people realize how seriously good this band was and is? I was not really a huge DM fan, but these guys (and Death) really turned it up for me. Also, notice the new age head banging which came more from the waist. Back earlier it was all shoulders up, which is why Tom Arraya has a neck condition that will no longer let him head bang. HEAD. BANG. 4. EVER.
That was a pretty good gig. I saw Morbid Angel at the same venue the same year, and Napalm as well. I fking miss the Marquee. WHAT A VENUE - no barriers, nothing. Amazing
I remember an old Obituary concert back in the days when there were VHS tapes, and there was John Tardy sweeping the stage's floor with his hair like a mop.
This was a fucking amazing gig. Anyone who was anyone in the UK extreme metal scene at the time was there and the band fucking crushed it. Damn I miss the old days! Roadies at either side of the stage to help you up and make sure nobody got kicked in the face, bands that actually came and hung out after the gig and a crowd that really got it and gave as much as the band did. Good times.
Amazing!!!! Loved this clip on Headbangers Ball since I was like 15 years old (now 42) I seen Obituary live many times but wish I was at this one too at the time!!! Damn!! Love the total vibe of this... Those were the days....🤘🤘🤘
Amazing this popped up on my feed. I think this was the tour where Cerebral Fix supported them. I wasn't at the Marquee, but I was at Eddies No8 Birmingham and the pit was the same, nuts. Those were great times and great memories. Sad to see extreme metal pits nowadays full of kids watching through a phone, seems alien to a crusty old thrasher like me.
Holy HAIR Batman; WOW is she rockin' 80's style or what???? My heavens!!!!!! Trev before his bushy beard days and John before the Cousin IT look haha!!!
had no idea mtv ever did featries on any extreme metal im like mind blown cus ive onky only kown of some headbangers ball episodes featuring only glam, heavy and maybe some thrash bands but never seen em do death or black.
I didn't notice that! ... but they kicked out the guitar cable from the pedal on the right in the beginning too... they really should have not let the dudes all over the stage for a live TV recording?
Part of the reason this band didn't get huge is because of Tardy's vocal style, it's terrible he's basically just spitting out words you could never understand lol
Pity for the front guys haha. Holding and taking care of the stage-divers not to fall all the time, instead of watching the band. But it's a part of a successful concert, isn't it.
You should also check the amateur version shot from the balcony, killer footage! ua-cam.com/video/2Jasrg8vjy8/v-deo.html
"Constantly singing about death could turn out somewhat self-limiting ... "
27 years later and still rocking.
HAHAHAHHAHAHHAH!!! GREATTT!!!
Vocals are astounding.
100%

gold years of death metal👍🤘
goood fucking time it was))))) respect 4 LIVE!!, fuck yea)
One of the best gigs I went to in the 90's. Amazing bands, amazing crowd, fucking amazing night
Trevor always looks like he isn't getting enough sleep.
since the first time I saw a picture of the band I thought he looked like a skull, very death metal
Same with Mike McCready of Pearl Jam / Mad Season
Yeah, I know. Why is he like that? Is it because of drugs? (I was just suggesting it could be, I'm not sure)
Anyone else think he looks a little like young Lars Ulrich?
Do you mean....
....stoned?
cause of death album is one of the best 'rotting' death metal albums a whole history, landmark!
Obituary… always my favorite death metal band
That was a pretty good gig. I saw Morbid Angel at the same venue the same year, and Napalm as well.
I fking miss the Marquee.
WHAT A VENUE - no barriers, nothing. Amazing
that guitar tone on cassette tape sounds magically gud...
You are right. I love the cassette sound
killer performance and sound!
I remember an old Obituary concert back in the days when there were VHS tapes, and there was John Tardy sweeping the stage's floor with his hair like a mop.
John "the loin" tardy LMAO
Tardy's vocals are frightening! LOVE IT. One of the first death metal bands that got me into the genre circa 1992.
Now that's a concert, proper stage diving! 👍
Brutal Stage Diving Love It

Good times.
What a time it was to be alive in the early 90s
Amazing!!!! Loved this clip on Headbangers Ball since I was like 15 years old (now 42) I seen Obituary live many times but wish I was at this one too at the time!!! Damn!! Love the total vibe of this... Those were the days....🤘🤘🤘
I was there. Amazing gig.
Love the drumming, cause off death there vest album!
One of my first death metal albums, it was the beginning with no end 😉 nice concert, the guys pushed all in
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIENDS
Атмосфера на концерте просто огонь 🔥!!! Народ слэмится от души, клетчатые рубашки, футболка Обитуари 👍
Это точно
great performance but saddening to hear allen west butcher james murphy's beautiful solo at 2:39, murphy added a whole nother dimension
I was fkn there, I remember the stage diving days , you had to be there , it was fkn amazing.

headbanging, that is crazy.
Saw them a year later in Oslo, with napalm death and Dismember. Remember standing in front of Perez when they played this song.
Mtv: Metaltv back in the days🤘🎸
my favorite album is definitely cause of death!
Trevor Peres makes a lot of good points about death metal very insightful guy
Wow, this is cool AF !
A vibe desse lugar tava surreal!!!!
Best quality footage I've seen of this performance! Thanks for uploading.
look at the fuckin energy here fuck yeah this is how it should be
Guys, let's be honest.
Some of us wish we had John Tardy's hair.
Holy HAIR Batman; WOW is she rockin' 80's style or what???? My heavens!!!!!! Trev before his bushy beard days and John before the Cousin IT look haha!!!
hey at least the vocals were mic'd right!
Hell yeah.
Trevor without beard
I just looooove his bark. He'd protect anything!!!
First time hearing Obituary, they're great, love the onstage mayhem lol
"Obitchery"!!???
Buck Futtler 1:20 for the people who don't know what he meant
so funny with the fans..btw i liked obituary at the 16,17.
Trevor always had that lividity face xd
Były fajne dobre stare czasy death metalu. Jeden z pierwszych moich teledysków na VHC. Death metal no death
Old school Death Metal and Old School Obituary.
Lmao she had no fucking idea whatsoever who Obituary was or what "Death Metal" even was.
5:37 best mosh...uhahuahuahu
Imagine having this hair on TV now
John's vocals stepped up a few octaves from Back from the Dead onwards. Not sure why, better lower...
had no idea mtv ever did featries on any extreme metal im like mind blown cus ive onky only kown of some headbangers ball episodes featuring only glam, heavy and maybe some thrash bands but never seen em do death or black.
Triple thrash treat had deathmetal too.
Don't miss HeadBanger's Ball 2 with Jamey Jasta! Every episode was Black Dahlia and Job for a Cowboy and Six Feet Under, whatever!
@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS wdyk headbangers ball 2
@@megandrover340 Lol... yep! Check my HeadBanger's Ball 20th Anniversary VHS with all the past host reminiscing and best moments or whatever....
I remember Riki Rachtman saying on Headbangers Ball long ago that by far their most requested band was Morbid Angel.
🔥
Man, the Marquee was going off that night!
What is that song in the background while the chicks talking? I know it.. just can't think of who it is.
Auch donde quedaron estos programas?!
now its almost fuckin 30 years....
Vanessa Warwick was the goddess of metal.
Sounds like my high school years I found this band on accident and I tell you what nothing sounds like this
Lol 5:59
What a fuck is that hahahha!!!!
02:21 Этот Тарас Бульба, что в 91м, что сейчас в 20м меня умиляет)))
dope
Hey what song is that 0:25 secs
oh boy mindfunk..essential
Allen West!!!!
Угораю с вида этой тётки
Okay, I give up, what song is playing in the background at the beginning of this clip?
Is that the same uncle who scream in obituary 2020.??
Jup. John Tardy.
Now I realize I'm too old.
Slow we rot
Would make a great Loreal commercial.
....lol! 😈👍😏👊👽🤘
2020?? Alguien?? ImI
ебать. мтвИ. охуеть. времена были теплые.
Great sound except for one of donalds bass drums going out
I didn't notice that! ... but they kicked out the guitar cable from the pedal on the right in the beginning too... they really should have not let the dudes all over the stage for a live TV recording?
Oh Vanessa 😊 I wouldn't come off you until environmental Council complained about the smell 🤪
RIP Frank Watkins
Vanessa Warwick is the most un-metal woman ever!!!
I would come off her until environmental Complained about the smell
This kind of stage diving doesn't really happen much anymore. LAME.
Нормальна народ калбасицца.
Marquee's audience is the worst ever.
Part of the reason this band didn't get huge is because of Tardy's vocal style, it's terrible he's basically just spitting out words you could never understand lol
One of the most successful death metal bands of all time, still doing it after 30 years, and John Tardy still has his voice and it hasnt changed
Oh really, I’ve never hear of a band called Jeremy Cubs before.
Pity for the front guys haha. Holding and taking care of the stage-divers not to fall all the time, instead of watching the band. But it's a part of a successful concert, isn't it.
