Trevor Peres is the Malcolm Young of Death Metal, nay metal full stop. Have you ever gotten close enough to them live to watch his right hand? I saw them in 1991 touring Cause of Death in a tiny club and again on the End Complete tour and a pair of decades later in Germany. I couldn't understand why all the attention went on the drummer and whoever was playing lead at the time. It's like watching a bunch of cyclists powering a reactor and quietly humming away in the most unassuming way is the human reactor, the driving force behind it all standing stage right, chugging away. The dude is a force of nature, steady as an atomic clock; precise, consistent, immutable, unstoppable. Please, lads, let's start recognising the man for what he is: hands down, the best metal rhythm player ever.

The thrash influence comes out in the solos, the rest is classic Obituary. The fucking groove this band punches out is unmatched, by anyone.
