Dave is the most iconic member of slayer he’s considered the godfather of the double bass and he started the band and arguably got them to their success He is by far the best musician and one of the greatest drummers of all time.
So, we go from the release of Show no Mercy, and then right into Paul Bostaph joining the band? Fairly sure a few other things happened in the history of this band between those two events....
They want minimum focus on Lombardo because they don't want to call attention to the obvious facts that creatively they had mostly shot their bolt by 1991 and that Dave is a drummer without parallel in metal. There's a million guys who kick ass but sound pretty much the same, and then there's him.
It's already all finished...this was recorded a while ago because I just saw Slayer live and Tom shaved his beard off. So this must have been filmed before they even started their farewell tour.
They went from recording the first album straight to 1991 and then 2013 again to make it seem like Dave was as consequential as the first bassist of Metallica and that Paul B was the guy who was really there the whole time. So I’m guessing you’re not getting your wish on a Dave episode.
Ironically, of all 4 Dave Lombardo was the most talented of them, and he received the worst treatment in the band. The other 3 could not forgive him leaving the band in 1986 and 1991.
I love all the members, especially Jeff for his writing ability, but Dave is hands down the best musician in the band. Paul is a great drummer and I feel bad for him because Dave is an impossible act to follow. I can’t think of a single drummer who could fill his shoes.
Dave will always be my favorite from the start, but over the years, he chose to come and go most of the time. But it would have been awesome for him to have done this final tour. SLAYER...RULES 🤘
One of the greatest Slayer shows I have seen was in Buffalo Feb 25 1995, Paul you were fn awesome, what a treat to see such talented musicians in that day...most brutal pit.
one year earlier, 1988 as well photos.google.com/share/AF1QipOYrysYwwBXGGlzWY1TQK5NSW4HceuqufNgQAHTjnvKnKd1ZbFQ9TyvbRckrl7wvg?key=eFBNdkdlVHh3QVRHaUpMcHItdWppU3FmZFFBOWNR
Dave is the quintessential member of Slayer. Their sound is created out of the original thrash metal drumming style of Dave, it's easily recognizable once that element is missing. Like Zeppelin without Bonham their sound is instantly different. Noone fills like Dave Lombardo save for Danny Carey but you catch my drift 😎🤟
My freshman year of high school in 1995 I used to type the entire lyrics to divine intervention in my type writing class and turn it into my teacher.. no BS.. he accepted it and passed me because I still learned how to type
LMMFAO! I opened this when my mother was visiting, falling asleep sitting on the couch and I opened this up! Omfg I almost pissed myself. THANK YOU SLAYER!!!!
Those three are Slayer to me, a buddy turned me on to Slayer with SOH and I went backward to RIB, then SOTA came out and then I liked the rest of the albums but I wasn’t totally into them anymore. It’s amazing that changing drummers could affect the rest of the music from a band like that. He had to have done more in writing and production than we will ever know from the “founders”. Still love them all tho
I'm already half deaf due to listen to slayer in the maximum, after this intro I think I have just a little of hearing waiting for the gig Slaaaayyyyeeeerrrrr
Lombardo has shown time and time again how much integrity he has in videos and interviews since. Bit of pain there? Sure. That and disappointment but very little resentment. Dave always seemed to be on another level than his band mates. Funny how some people only fit for a while before they outgrow a place or a group of friends etc.
Paul doesn't look like a drummer for one of the most legendary metal bands to ever exist. He looks more like a guy that lives in your neighborhood who rarely mows his lawn, works on his Harley on his front porch, and has a 70s muscle car in his driveway... engine compartment covered with a blue tarp and 2 or 3 empty beer bottles on its roof.
Nope a young man of varied tastes like myself though i am no longer young. Me too A Dead Head punk who used to go to Black Flag gigs and hated metal until I heard RIB, SOH and SITA. Best metal LPs in a row since Early Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. HATED KISS; HATED HAIR METAL! HATE THEM. WEAK music for 12 year olds.
Aaaaaaahhhhhhh it was so good this times... I was teenager and just falling into Metallica Slayer and Exodus ! They are the réal Big 3. Slayer is unic !!!!! History .....great one

first show reign in blood tour '86 toronto concert hall. Back then they were still playing relatively small venues (1500 people) with general admission. I'm not really into arena shows, so I never saw them again. But ya dave was amazing, its too bad $$$ issues get between band mates.
I was enjoying that! I'd just watched episode 1,2 and 3 and I can't find episode 4,5 or 6 as it skips to episode 7 after this. What the hell is going on?
I miss slayer so much, first time I saw them was 2000 at Nottingham Rock city, saw them countless times after that now they're not a band I feel so frigging lost
Me too, tho i can't imagine Slayer without Lombardo. Luckily, I was lucky to see them in 2007 (18th birthday present, couldn't imagine anything better than that). And that show rooted so deep inside me since then.
never seen slayer in Poughkeepsie new York before Ronnie james dio passed away. Be on mainstreet wonder when all the energy was going to show up. Death angel probly why they showed up. Ronnie was a an old hot who knew music likes loves and hates. He look at me and scream slayer must be here. "Nah .....no shit Ronnie james dio....I love that song rainbow in the dark.....Kid." before he died. cry sometimes all the love and lifestyle brought on by his music and why I am and everyone around me just lived and breathed slayer too. Love you guys.
*Slayer without Dave is like Zeppelin without John Bonham. NOT SLAYER! Nor is it Slayer without Jeff.* Slayer are like Zeppelin or the Beatles. All four made them ONE band. Jeff and Dave are the most talented members. Their Page and Bonham. The Tom and Kerry show is NOT SLAYER. It is their first 5 LP's that matter though of course there is the odd exception. As the 'Still Reigning' DVD with extra's shows, when Dave returned, while the LP creativity did not, the live shows of older material was them at their peak live. Evolved skills and experience combined with the fire power only these four men together could create. My favorite band since KYUSS, Early Sabbath and Zeppelin! Ferocious!
I was a huge Rush fan. I remember being a little kid bummed because they were coming to an end. Well, I mean they had to be. No band lasts longer then 10 years. But before that 10 came, I heard Slayer. I mean... FUCKIN Slayer. Hell... 30 years later I was still seeing both bands. Still going to their shows and each band kept getting better. Rush continued on and called it quits after 40 years. Slayer, 37. Can I pick em or what. And not to mention Metallica. They peaked at Master of Puppies, but they still have a huge fan base. None of them ever stopped. But whose gonna bring us great music now? Everyones dead or retired.
Did they actually just skip from talking about Show No Mercy and Haunting the Chapel to Paul Bostaph joining? Uhh. Pretty sure there was A LOT OF MAJOR THINGS that happened in between those two points!!!
Dave was HUGELY INSTRUMENTAL in the creation of all the few records the drumming is what made the unmistakable sound of Slayer!!
Dave is the most iconic member of slayer he’s considered the godfather of the double bass and he started the band and arguably got them to their success He is by far the best musician and one of the greatest drummers of all time.

Yeah, that's certainly a really weird time jump.
Slayer inspired by Mogwai
They want minimum focus on Lombardo because they don't want to call attention to the obvious facts that creatively they had mostly shot their bolt by 1991 and that Dave is a drummer without parallel in metal. There's a million guys who kick ass but sound pretty much the same, and then there's him.
Paul initially joined the band in 1993 if i am not mistaken. Dave made a comeback after that. So, everything in this video is in context.
Yeah, was wondering wtf why such a big time jump as well. They need to get these out more than every 6 months damnit!
The tour is gonna be done by the time the next episode comes out
It's already all finished...this was recorded a while ago because I just saw Slayer live and Tom shaved his beard off. So this must have been filmed before they even started their farewell tour.
@@Remmy0930 The Repentless Killogy was recorded in 2017 too, thats why he had his beard on the DVD and on these pre recorded videos
I hope you make an episode for Lombardo also. He can’t be forgotten
You are right my friend
Kerry King is a notorious dick. He will decide that he's to be forgotten completely.
Onour Black Eagle grip inc will ensure he won’t be
hugolafhugolaf fuck you
They went from recording the first album straight to 1991 and then 2013 again to make it seem like Dave was as consequential as the first bassist of Metallica and that Paul B was the guy who was really there the whole time. So I’m guessing you’re not getting your wish on a Dave episode.
The legend has been forged by Kerry, Jeff, Tom and Dave. As well as Venom was Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon.
Dave lombardo made them with his drumming
You need to recognise the massive contributions that dave made
Ironically, of all 4 Dave Lombardo was the most talented of them, and he received the worst treatment in the band. The other 3 could not forgive him leaving the band in 1986 and 1991.

@@CJ-rx5fi Could not agree more!
Dave is an asshole and not so good . Paul is the Best for slayer
Sadly true...
Dave will always be my favorite from the start, but over the years, he chose to come and go most of the time. But it would have been awesome for him to have done this final tour. SLAYER...RULES 🤘
0:00 RIP Headphones
Part 4 coming 2020
I had my headphones on full blast and that almost gave me a heart attack lol
Raphael H. Farewell tour ending in 2057
Part 5?
One of the greatest Slayer shows I have seen was in Buffalo Feb 25 1995, Paul you were fn awesome, what a treat to see such talented musicians in that day...most brutal pit.
Ill miss you slayer. I met them. And they are the nicest guys ever.
I also met them with Dave still in the band they were shocked at Scottish folk
Dave made drummers love Slayer. He should have been included.
It seems that Lombardo was never part of the band
BIG MISTAKE !!!
Tom and Dave are genuinely nice people
August 12, 1988 was my first SLAYER show. At the Hollywood Palladium. Epic show. \m/
I was born on August 12 1988 XD XD in fontana California
one year earlier, 1988 as well

What a fucking beautiful thing to hear these stories. This is the happiest music in the world!! SLAYER, A CELEBRATION OF LIFE!!!
Slaayyyeeerrr
SLAYEERRR!!!!
Favorite band of all time. I hope this isn’t the end
My first metal concert too!! Saw you in Penticton, BC. Slayer did NOT disappoint! Your show was awesome!! 🤘🤘🤘
Two of the best metal drummers all time, Lombardo and bosthaph
Jon dette
My freshman year of high school in 1995 I used to type the entire lyrics to divine intervention in my type writing class and turn it into my teacher.. no BS.. he accepted it and passed me because I still learned how to type
Nothing electrify's my system like listening to Slayer full blast.
LMMFAO! I opened this when my mother was visiting, falling asleep sitting on the couch and I opened this up! Omfg I almost pissed myself. THANK YOU SLAYER!!!!
holy shit that scared me
“Early days” without any focus on Dave Lombardo? Instant loss of credibility 😡
How come there is no mention of the Rain in Blood, South of Heaven, and Seasons in the Abyss? They skipped over a huge period of time.
Best three albums they have imo
Dave Lombardo
Two words... Dave... Lombardo..
Seasons is my fave cause that's when I discovered Slayer in 1990. Love the video!!!
I don't know about changes in musicians - with Slayer - through the years - but I like everything I've ever heard - thanks Slayer all good 😋
I'm sad and happy about Slayer's "retirement". Without Jeff and Dave, it's just not the same. Hate me if you want, but it's true nonetheless.
I'm already half deaf due to listen to slayer in the maximum, after this intro I think I have just a little of hearing waiting for the gig
Slaaaayyyyeeeerrrrr
Waiting till July to see you guys! Slayer forever! 🤘

They were very fortunate to have two top tier drummers.
Paul doesn't look like a drummer for one of the most legendary metal bands to ever exist.

Here’s my first concerts beach boys, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead Grateful Dead Grateful Dead, then Slayer, I was a very confused young man
Nope a young man of varied tastes like myself though i am no longer young. Me too A Dead Head punk who used to go to Black Flag gigs and hated metal until I heard RIB, SOH and SITA. Same here dude. The Dead and Slayer were 2 of my first concerts. I went on to see both many times.
I love Dave but it's great to hear from Paul as well.
WHERE IS THE REST OF THE GODDAMN SERIES!???!!

Please come to San Diego!! \m/
That was definitely the best lineup
Absolutely love these vids but missing out on Dave talking about his experiences with Slayer is a bummer right…

Last I remember there was another important dude in the band by the name of Dave Lombardo.
Gotta love that Christian music 😊

Lombardo was the shit!!! His style was what made Slayer..
Raining blood! The sky is turning red, a fucking tragedy draws near . Fall to me, the sky turns to tears and something made if stone.
Thanks
HAIL SLAAAYEERRRRRR!!!
Show No Mercy is amazing 🖤
SLAAAYEEERRRRRRRR
Met Kerry backstage at harpos in Detroit in the 80s he had hair
Dave Lombardo was the red headed step child
Paul is the fucking man!
Paul has never been on daves level
7:08 I was at that show🤘
If this is about Slayers "early days", maybe consider, i dunno, chosing a pic that includes Lombardo
Where the hell is Episode 4?!
Riffs master band
Where do i find the picture at 7:06?
I understand you guys love Paul, but what about Proscriptor?
Love Paul bostaph seems such a humble dude and he's an awesome drummer but he just ain't Dave Lombardo
Nor was the band by the time he joined.
I liked Paul in Testament.
Episode 4?
Forbidden 🤘🏻
Is it just me or does this series jump from 3 straight to 7
