I believe criticism is worthwhile only if it is constructive. The bees welfare was the issue at hand, not what had happened previously. Still, I wanted to make mention that the job should have professionalism associated with it. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
The bees had had a nice safe defendable nook and then in minutes were opened up to all manner of hazard and left impossibly to fend for themselves. The previous bee men need greater experience and more competent follow through - even given an emergency where they couldn't continue their work they could have trim stapled a piece of sturdy tarping to secure the incomplete job for their successors or their own return with better help.
God woke up one morning and as he was yawning and rubbing his eyes, he heard a buzzing in his ear. He thought "I know I know, todays the day we get Mr. Ed over there and finish up what someone else started". Knowing the job will be completed in a timely manner and stately fashion, and it was. Thank you again as usual Mr. Ed.
I feel it is very important to give the bees as much of their comb back as possible. They work very hard to produce it, and I do not want to add to the stress they have already undergone by the removal by making them produce more comb. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I have to admit, my first removal was not good. But I learned a lot, and never made those mistakes again. Fortunately there are many great keepers on UA-cam, and they share knowledge. Thanks Mr. Ed.
My first did not turn out well either, for the bees or me, I wound up in the hospital with severe dehydration, and the bees never made it past a week. I've learned a lot since then. Thanks for watching. Stay safe, God's peace. Mr. Ed
I have to admit, after wrangling and keeping bees for over 20 years, it does give me a bit of an advantage. Thank you for your kid words. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I love that you're genuinely thrilled with each piece of comb that's salvageable that you took out. That box full made me so sad 😭 but you saved so so many yay xxxxx
A removal is very stressful for bees. By giving the bees their own comb, it greatly reduces the stress level, and helps accelerate the recovery process. Yes, in my opinion, it is very important to give the bees as much of their dry comb as possible, and this is why I take great care in framing up the comb. To see it all piled up IS very sad. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff you do a brilliant job, Jeff. I'm so glad you were able to frame up the comb. It makes perfect sense that your u bring as much of their home with them as possible. Have a blessed week Jeff :)
You know, there is something so satisfying about watching a man who loves his work. I don't really enjoy my job, so watching this guy almost squeal in excitement, while earning his paycheck, just makes me happy.
Bees are masterpiece of the evolution. Creatures so gentle, so subtle, so sophisticated and so perfect... How anyone can treat them with such brutality is beyond my comprehension. And I'm glad that people who knows how to treat them properly exists and are ready to save the day. Great job!
I have no doubt that the fella that attempted this removal had every good intent towards the bees, he was just way over his head, and he bailed. Regardless, the bees are doing fantastic here at the abbey and produced over 4 gallons of honey.......SWEET!!!! Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
New subscriber here!,,,, The entire world is blessed by your actions, and communities are made better places because of people like you. Hundreds of thousands of flowers will bloom, tens of thousands of fruits will grow, and millions of seeds will begin new generations because you transplanted this hive, rather than eradicated it! God bless!
You show the love and respect for every hive you move by the way you actually care for them when move them, and I'm so glad that you do.I felt soooo sad 😔 when I seen all this dead bees 🐝 on the ground and the comb just thrown in a heap in that container. It makes all the difference in the world. Thank you so much for sharing your videos with us all.
Putting on that "Life Alert" is like wearing a life jacket when you are on a boat. I was very happy how this whole removal ended up also. Not only that, I split the hive a few weeks later, and I pulled over 4 gallons of honey from the split 3 weeks ago. These are some great bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace Marty. Mr. Ed
No dumb question, there are a few easy ways of spotting her if you know what to look for. 1. Her abdomen is about 1/2 and inch longer than other bees, consequently making her larger. 2. Her wings do not cover her abdomen but reach only about 1/ 2 the length of her body. Other bees, the wings cover their bodies. 3. There is a big black dot on the back of her head, and finally, 4. She's the one wearing the crown, but you have to look really hard because it's very small.
@@rosamariamendoza1466 Since no one else has answered your question.. a Life Alert is an emergency call device, in case someone has a medical emergency and needs competent help. Jeff didn't say, but in his case, I think it's meant to signal he's been hurt, so someone can call 911, though some similar devices are monitored and when a distress call goes out, local emergency services are dispatched. Some but not all models have voice communication as well.
I love to watch your videos ...I love how you take your time and treat the bees with such care and respect as a living creature! Bless you Mr Ed for such awesome work!

Your smile is handsome, your voice is nicely distinctive, your spirit is beautiful and your bee handling skills are incredible. Thank you for saving our bees and helping Mother Earth.
Nicely done Jeff! You Bee a hero for sure. I am glad you saved those girls. The Life Alert helped you out on this one. Keep smiling! Peace and Joy brother, Peace and Joy.
Peace and joy for sure! These girls really produced for us after being rescued. I was able to harvest over 4 gallons of honey from them just a few weeks ago. Ain't life sweet! God's peace always Juliana. Mr. Ed
Thank you so much for your blessing Cheryl, it warms my heart to receive them. It was unfortunate on the first attempt to remove the bee, but in the end, everything turned out fine for them. They are doing very well in their new home at the abbey, and they blessed us with over 4 gallons of honey just a few weeks ago. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
i don't know why but i looove watching beekeeping videos; i just stumbled on to your channel and i think you're probably one of my favorites already!! you are such a delight and your passion for what you do is so evident in every video. please keep doing what you do and helping these beautiful creatures!
The reason your name popped into my brain at that moment is because I pray for you guys every day. Keep the faith brother, we are all in this together. When one suffers, we all suffer. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Help someone else out until you are confident in your experience with bee removal, customer relations and the necessary tools (and have the necessary tools and insurance).
Fascinating stuff! Any one of those adorable little bees could kill me with a single sting, but it's so cool to see your work. God bless, and keep it up!
Thank you for your blessing and support of my efforts to save bees. I'm happy to provide the means of you watching safely and I hope you continue to do so. God's peace Randall. Mr. Ed
I only just found your channel today but already I absolutely love your happy vibe and the care you show for these bees. This ep was a little sad at first to see all that comb just smashed up, but I am really uplifted that you could save the hive.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support of my efforts to rescue bees. I've got over 300 videos and most are on bees and bee rescues. I'm looking forward to hearing from you again soon on more of my bee wrangling adventures. God's peace. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff You are most welcome. I must have binge watched ten of your bee videos last night, being in a city I have to live vicariously when it comes to bee keeping unless we ever find a breed that eats cars, I think they are amazing creatures.
You definitely do have a very infectious smile and personality ... just lurrv ur passion... u have a glowing personality and aura... that kinda helps me get through watching this kinda thing... Your kind words and support are greatly appreciated, thank you for them and for all the time you spend watching my bee wrangling adventures. Until the next one, God's peace. Mr. Ed
Hello Jeff, good video as usual. I was just doing a release from a cut out I wasn't going to wear my jacket. I remembered you the goats and the bees. Thanks to you I wore it. Ha ha ha ha
I've seen a few instances where people have gone out, caught the queen, took a bit of comb, and packed it in. I get the impression that sometimes people figure just because they are beekeepers that they're also cut-out and removal specialists. But good on you for getting a nice colony!
I'm glad I am only accountable for MY actions and not someone else's. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth thinking there are folks out there stooping to such lows. Trust me, that ain't no bee keeper doing those things. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
There is NO WAY the first people were beekeepers. They might have some hives....but they OBVIOUSLY don't care about keeping bees healthy....A Beekeeper diligently work to keep their bees healthy.......piling comb into a box shows that there was absolutely no consideration for the health of the hive. I am so glad you were willing to come in and clean up that mess and help the hive to thrive.
I can remember the first cut out I did, it was not pretty, and the bees absconded. There is always a learning curve when we venture into new areas, and it is with great hope that we learn from our mistakes and not repeat them. The real tragedy in the learning curve is that the bees are the ones who suffer most for our ignorance. In order to avoid such circumstances, we must be willing to seek advice and guidance from others who know more about the subject. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

I done my first cut out this year! I made my own bee vac got the bees caught the queen got 100% of the cone and replaced all soffit back. Of corse iam a self-employed carpenter for 26 years and a 3rd generation bee keeper. It helped knowing wood ,bees , and how to work professionally for a client
Congratulations, great job Ben! Can I ask one question, when do you want to help me wrangle some bees, you've got the right qualifications. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Man, those previous people didn't have a clue what they were doing, what a mess! At least you were there to save the remaining bees, and even made sure the queen was doing well.
I don't fault the fella who attempted the removal, and I'm sure he realized he had bitten off way more than he could chew so he left, I just wish he had a better game plan. @@JeffHorchoff Would love to keep bees but am seriously allergic to insect stings and bites. Boy, there is a huge difference between people who know what they're doing and people who don't. We had bees in the common walls of our complex and the first guys knocked two big jagged holes in my wall and then shrugged and called it a "nightmare scenario" and had no suggestions other than "big deal, maybe you should leave 'em be." I insisted on getting some good people and they came out. Took a long time to figure out where they were, but they were behind my neighbor's closet! Now the bees are living in a community garden, and the homeowner's association is probably mad about how much it cost, but I personally paid for half. I am for saving bees and taking care of them. Thanks for caring about them so much!
At least the bees in your story and the bees in this video had a happy ending to their removal, many hives are not that fortunate. Life Alert alerted me you had put up a new video Jethro 😉 I know there’s an inside joke somewhere in there about the Life Alert, I’m sure I’ll find out sooner or later ☺️ Main pre-requisite for a removal such as this “patience” which obviously the first person seriously lacked! Good thing you have no shortage of patience & obviously a healthy dose of determination & skill set to have helped these people out. May God continue to bless you brother 👍🐝🐝🐝
KaleidoscopeJunkie I figured it must have something to do with D.R. I know Jeff doesn’t like heights so I imagine it could have something to do with that albeit he was barely off the ground for this one. ☺️
Sometimes in the field repairs are required, and duct tape is usually the means by which the repairs are done. It may not fix it permanently, but it can finish up the job. God's peace David. Mr. Ed
Working up high is not my idea of fun, but sometimes it is necessary. At least I was working off of some really nice scaffolding. The joists were 2x12's so the comb was extra tall. This was a very large hive, and in a sense, the fella that attempted it first, made my job a bit easier. By the way, I harvested over 4 gallons of honey from these girls as well as making a split from them to boot. Great bees. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed

Hi, some of us are getting into bees. We are good people and sometimes get in over our head. It takes experience to do what you do. We love to learn and learn by trying, but it takes experience and that comes by trying and sometimes failing. I hope the first guy talked to the customer with the truth. Sometimes it is hard to admit we are in over our heads. We move on and try another removal. Thanks for the encouragement.
I am all in favor of folks who have never removed bees to dive on in, that's exactly what I did. I made lots of mistakes initially, and I'm still learning even after doing more than 100 of them. There's always a learning curve in trying something new, as long as we remain open to learning, things will eventually level off and begin to work. I wish you well in your bee rescue endeavors. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thanks Mr. Ed. I have never tried a bee removal but when my chance comes I will certainty dive in and try the methods you have shared with us. Thanks for sharing. From New Brunswick Canada
Great to hear from you Billy! I learned 40 years ago when I was driving a 65 VW beetle, you have to bee prepared at all times to fix it when it breaks, because it's just a matter of time before it happens, and I ALWAYS had duct tape in the tool box. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed

Everything worked out great for the bees and myself, we harvested over 4 gallons of honey from them a few weeks ago. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed, starting at 10:25 you start throwing the shook frames from the bee vac - I presume from that that in your youth (but a short time ago - for sure) you and a dog were a pretty competent frisbee jump/fetch team.
I was on my college Frisbee Golf Team and we through a lot of Frisbees instead of going to class. Now, I just toss bee frames. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

You make removals look so easy and clean. When I first started I had honey everywhere. It take practice on keeping the mess down. Very sad to see people throw out all that perfect comb. I try to make 2 brood boxes if possible. That one looked like a monster hive for sure.
Keeping the removal site as honey free as possible is always a priority for me. The less honey spills, the less likelihood of starting a robbing frenzy. Still, it is almost inevitable there will be honey spilled, but to minimize it is my goal. This was a large removal, but I have done a few much bigger. At least these girls were removed at the right time of the year, and they have done exceptionally well. Not only did I split them early on, but I harvested over 4 gallons of honey from them as well. This is one super queen. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Looked more like vandalism then an attempted removal. Even as new as I am to beekeeping I could have told them they was doing it wrong. No way the bees could fix that. Thank god for you sir.

Thanks Jeff, I hope to be as great a bee wrangler as you and the dirt rooster. Y'all's ( is that a word ) love for bees is contagious! ( although I can't believe Randy left you such a mess to clean up ) ... :)
I wanted to suggest to you to find a bee club in your area and join it now. You do not need to have bees to belong to a club, just a love for them. You will meet some really great folks who can give you valuable information on keeping bee in the area you live and that is very important. Folks up north keep bees different from folks down south, food and climate have everything to do with it. Let me know how you progress goes. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I'm planning on going to a club meeting this coming Tuesday. I live about an hour north of Austin, TX, so pretty mild winters compared to what they go through up north. Also lucky to have mainly ranch land and wooded land around me ( southern end of the blackland prairie ) with no large mono-crops nearby. Thanks again, God's peace to you too!
Oh Jeff it just makes me cry to see the devastation and condition of that hive. I just hope whomever it was that did that, got what was coming to them. I hope the bees drove them out of there in a fury. Thank you for being there to help the bees. Thank you Jesus.
As sad as it was to witness the mistakes of the first attempted removal, in the end, the bees were removed safely and are doing fantastic at the abbey.I'm sure the fella learned a great lesson that day, and if removals are in his future, he needs a much better game plan. By the way, I harvested over 4 gallons of honey from these girls just a few week ago. Life is good! God's peace Cheryl. Mr. Ed
Mr. Jeff, Sometimes I feel envious of all the many wild colonies in your area!!!! BUT I cannot imagine such a strange twisted mass of honeycombs to try to remove and put into a hive box....I am glad I wasn't on a scaffold like you and working above my head. My hat is off to you! I wonder if 628 Dirt Rooster was standing by in case you needed to sound your life alert? lessing to you dear Brother! Rick in Pa.
I am always amazed at how and where bees build their hives. When I look upon the beauty of a hive with all it's intricacies, I lose myself in the wonder of it, and see the hand of God. It is with that respect that I disassemble the hive and remove the bees. For me, it's just another way of praying. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I was wondering wondering whether the other beekeepers went there just for the queen then left. Strange they got that far then quit. Nice video from a U.K fan. I’m desperate to keep bees after watching lots of yours and dirt roosters videos. Haven’t got a big garden but hopefully we will be moving soon. Hoping to join the beekeeping world some time next year. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
I'm sure they wanted the entire hive, but they bit off more than they could chew, and flew the coupe when they realized that fact. I am so honored that there are many people in the U.K., including you, that follow my bee wrangling adventures, thank you very much. May I offer a suggestion, find a bee club in your area and join it. I know from the many viewers in the U.K., there are bee clubs in lots of locations. Let me know if you find one. Again, thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
It is always my hope that those girls will make it to another hive. Because they were forager bees, there will be a greater likely hood of the new bees accepting a bee bringing in food. God's peace. Mr. Ed
That was a big one. Especially considering all the comb that was already removed. Good thing you didn’t fall down. I think the life alert is questionable. lol Take care Mr Ed.
This was a large removal, and the comb was built between 2x12's so it was extra deep. In a way, the fellas before me saved me a bit of work. I'm glad everything wound up on the plus side, and just 2 weeks ago I pulled over 4 gallons of honey from this hive. Trust me, any time Mr. Ed works up high, he takes care. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
It was difficult, and have you you heard me mention, I don't like working up high. I'm very happy everything turned out well though. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You take such gentle care of God's little bees, it is a sadness to see all the bees that were not saved by the first effort of others. So happy you were able to rescue the others, and to see you had a Life Alert since you were working up so high, God bless.
Thank you! Looking forward to learning from you, about these beautiful, hard working insects. To me, the defination of insects , does not fit them at all!
This hive had been there no more than one year. Had they been given more time in this spot, it could have doubled in size over one season. Now, they are growing here at the abbey like that.....yea!!!!! Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You said you were in Le Compte. I was visiting there in July 2018, researching family history. I did manage to find the family graveyard, but it was in Clearwater, not Le Compte.
I know nothing about bee keeping, but I've seen enough of your videos to know that's not the right way to remove a hive. Don't know how anyone would think, I'll just pile it up and they'll fix it. Try that with your house and see how it works. Good work, thanks for the videos.
I don't fault the fella who attempted the removal, and I'm sure he realized he had bitten off way more than he could chew so he left, I just wish he had a better game plan. Still, it turned out very well for the bees, and I for one was very glad to get the bees, I harvested over 4 gallons of honey from them a few weeks ago. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Our first removal we told the guy it was outside our skills. He said "I'll do whatever it takes" and starts tearing up the wall. Then after a couple of hours he lost his nerve and said to stop. Needless to say it was an absolute failure. Now he has a torn up wall AND bees. And now we lost a day working in 95º weather and didn't accomplish anything.
I have one or two unfortunate bee removals in my history as well, but if we can learn from them, hopefully the event will not bee repeated. It's just unfortunate the poor bees suffer for our ignorance or pride. Thanks for sharing your story and for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Again, thank you for your blessing, receiving them is one of the best perks I have for having a UA-cam channel. I'm delighted you have discovered my channel, and I look forward to hearing from you often. Til then, God's peace. Mr. Ed
Very kind of you to bee so faithful in following along with my bee wrangling adventures, thank you very much. Till next Friday. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Ok, that looked more like a smoke alarm than a life alert! What are you silly boys up to with all that?! Great save. So glad you got the queen and she's healthy. Looks like a bright future for those bees. BTW, loved that first music. So nice to hear pleasant acoustic type music vs the electronic agitating stuff so many use in their videos. Anyway, good job salvaging that situation!
The Rooster is always cooking something up, and I'm alway up to going along with it. It's really great to have fun and laugh. I was very happy with the outcome of this removal, and the bees have gone on to produce over 4 gallons of honey for me to boot. So glad you enjoyed the video and the music. Thanks for watching. God's peace Carole. Mr. Ed
Is there something that you do to ensure that the area you cleared in the ceiling does not attract other bees? In years gone by I regularly had to have bee colonies removed from the same place even though the only thing left each time was a bit of wax where the combs had been attached
It is a very difficult task to prevent bees from reinfesting an area they have previously been. The best defense is making sure there are no entry ways for bees to find. Fortunately for this location, that job is not to difficult to achieve. In case you are interested, I just posted the full length version of this video showing exactly what was necessary to do to rescue these bees, and I'll include the link. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed ua-cam.com/video/1opv70l9jtY/v-deo.html
I melted the wax that was in the box as none of the comb was salvageable. The wax will be spread on frames for next year. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
The first ppl doing that kind of looked like an extermination attempt. There were some really beautiful clean comb structure up in that area. Would have like to have seen it before part of it was ripped out. Great video. You have a new subscriber. ☺️
They were inexperienced bee keepers who got in over their head. Fortunately, every thing worked out for the best. I too would have loved to have seen the colony before any of the wax had been taken out, I bet it was magnificent. Thank you so much for your gift of subbing to my channel, it is greatly appreciated. Till next week, God's peace. Mr. Ed
The prior bee wranglers who came before you need to watch your videos and take notes! I barely know what I'm doing and could've done a better job than that! Those poor bees deserved better and they got it when you come through for them Mr Ed god bless you keep up the good work!
There is a very large learning curve when it comes to wrangling bees...especially when you are interested in doing right by the bees. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Nathan. Mr. Ed
That's really sad they just threw all that comb in the box. What did they think the bees would do carry the comb out of the box?!! It's just really sad. If they knew they couldn't do it they should have just stopped instead of tearing it up and leaving all those dead bees on the ground. But I'm so happy you're getting them and giving the a wonderful home at the Abby, they'll be so happy there.
im so angry with who ever was there before you, and just destroyed most of the bees and most of there hive, useless clueless people that should not be doing that job, they couldnt even handle it and left it half way through, thank god for people like you, your amazing everything you do for those little ones to move there little home somewhere else for them, not just come along and destroy them, god put people like you on this earth for a reason, if i were you, i would be really really proud of yourself, from an animal fanatic... THANK YOU for everything you do x
Some were vacuumed no doubt, but I try not to do it, they will fight each other in the bee vac just like they will do on the hive itself. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I do not know exactly, but the section of comb that was removed was the thick of the brood. As it turned out, the queen was a real layer and built the hive back up so quickly I split them 5 weeks later, and then 2 weeks ago I pilled over 4 gallons of honey off of the split. These are great bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
The Life Alert is just a joke that my buddy the 628 Dirt Rooster, another bee wrangler from Mississippi, gave me. It's nothing more than a smoke detector, but we get a bunch of laughs from it. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
The bees in the hive are attracted to the pheromone of the queen from that hive. They know her smell, and look for it when separated. If I requeen a hive, they will learn the new smell of the new queen. Good question. God's peace. Mr. Ed
It was capped brood, but unfortunately, it was not viable as it was unattended for 2 full days. I was able to salvage the wax though. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed. I enjoy your videos and enthusiasm. A suggestion, if I may. If possible when making a still shot from your video, finding a sharp image of the queen and not one that contains fuzzy, digital artifacts or graininessthat would distort your queen "money shots". Then, move that money shot to a just off of center in the screen with perhaps an enlargement of double the original size. If you don't want to worry about losing the original video for this, cutting down to the specific money shot for a short clip then adding it as a new track over the original video. Them you could zoom in and crop the new clip to show off the queen for a few seconds and then cut back to the original video.
Wow, if only I could do what you suggest, it really is a great idea, and I love it. My problem, I'm old and inept when it comes to fancy editing. I'm sure if I had some special tutoring, about 3 days worth, I could make an attempt at your suggestion. I will say in my defense, I did a VERY modified version of your suggestion in the video I edited Sunday. I took the frame, a queen being released on a frame, froze it, chopped it, enlarged it, and then reinserted it on the timeline. I'm afraid I was at my technical limit of creativity. Thank you for your suggestion and for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thanks for doing it right you and JP the bee man are my favorite to watch because you guys do it right the other did not but I love how you do your job
Howd you know i LOVE piano played like that!?! Beautiful.! Its sad to see their hive destroyed like that...thank God you were available to help them move.. God bless you bother 📿📿📿
Thank you for your blessing Frank, I appreciate it very much. I was VERY happy to have this removal work out so nice after it's initial start. Not only have I split these bees, but I harvested over 4 gallons of honey off of these girls as well. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Your intro to this was very polite to the previous workers. You really could have trashed them for shoddy work, but chose not to. Good man.
I believe criticism is worthwhile only if it is constructive. The bees welfare was the issue at hand, not what had happened previously. Still, I wanted to make mention that the job should have professionalism associated with it. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
You are a true gentleman for sure. I saw all those dead bees and I cried. :(
The bees had had a nice safe defendable nook and then in minutes were opened up to all manner of hazard and left impossibly to fend for themselves. The previous bee men need greater experience and more competent follow through - even given an emergency where they couldn't continue their work they could have trim stapled a piece of sturdy tarping to secure the incomplete job for their successors or their own return with better help.
Mr. Ed is a true southern gentleman!
@@JeffHorchoff, this made an old Lady cry. So well done, Jesus is well pleased with you, I am sure.
Ed.
The prayers for help from fifteen thousand tiny voices whose home had been cracked open, perhaps?
Any day I get to wrangle bees is a great day, even if the job is not so easy. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Dammit Boy.. I love your screen name. I've heard my mother say that a time or two in my life to one of my brothers 😂
I get such a charge out of jeff saying, "thank you Jesus". makes the whole show go good for me.
Thank you for your support, it's always great to know there are so many folks who feel that way as well. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I love the fact that you save as much of the original HiVe comb as possible. It makes the bees feel more at home and nothing is wasted. Bless you Sir.
Mr. Ed
The fact that u can pick out a queen like that after looking at bees all day long blows my mind. You're a true professional
You make it look so easy! And I love how kind you were about the former "bee removal" folks. Nicely done.
Thank you for your kind words and support of my efforts to rescue bees. God's peace Renee.
Mr. Ed
You know, there is something so satisfying about watching a man who loves his work. I don't really enjoy my job, so watching this guy almost squeal in excitement, while earning his paycheck, just makes me happy.
The paycheck is "saving & relocating" the bees, not $$
Bees are masterpiece of the evolution.
Sad beginning but a wonderful outcome. Boy there's nothing like that "Life Alert" to give you the confidence to tackle those tough jobs.
I have a dumb question. How can you tell the difference between a queen bee and the other bees.?
3. There is a big black dot on the back of her head, and finally,
4. She's the one wearing the crown, but you have to look really hard because it's very small.
I'm sorry, but what is a Life Alert?
@@rosamariamendoza1466 Since no one else has answered your question.. a Life Alert is an emergency call device, in case someone has a medical emergency and needs competent help. Jeff didn't say, but in his case, I think it's meant to signal he's been hurt, so someone can call 911, though some similar devices are monitored and when a distress call goes out, local emergency services are dispatched. Some but not all models have voice communication as well.
I love to watch your videos ...I love how you take your time and treat the bees with such care and respect as a living creature! Bless you Mr Ed for such awesome work!

Wow that was massive. Sad how the first removal wreaked havoc. God bless you for your work and educating people about bees.

Hello Jeff, good video as usual. I was just doing a release from a cut out I wasn't going to wear my jacket. I remembered you the goats and the bees. Thanks to you I wore it. Ha ha ha ha
So happy to learn others have had successes due to my failures. Keep up the good work. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed

Life Alert alerted me you had put up a new video Jethro 😉
I know there’s an inside joke somewhere in there about the Life Alert, I’m sure I’ll find out sooner or later ☺️
Main pre-requisite for a removal such as this “patience” which obviously the first person seriously lacked!
Good thing you have no shortage of patience & obviously a healthy dose of determination & skill set to have helped these people out.
May God continue to bless you brother 👍🐝🐝🐝
As a joke - Dirt Rooster made the "Life Alert" for him a while back.

You picked a good one to start, this was a tough one to do, and they are not always this difficult, but there's always adventure. Looking forward to hearing from you again. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Great work! So glad you rescued all those ladies!😊
Everything worked out great for the bees and myself, we harvested over 4 gallons of honey from them a few weeks ago. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Jeff God bless 😊
Mr. Ed
Dirtrooster-yeah buddy! You are the happiest, chillest beekeeper and you just made my day with this video so I hit that sub button! Wow, that hive was massive!!
Thank you so much for subbing to my channel, you humble me with your gift, and I hope to hear from you on more of my bee wrangling adventures. I very glad you enjoyed this video, and I thank you for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I'm dying about your "life alert" that is hysterical 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚😁👍👍👍👍😁💚💚💚💚💚💚
I have to admit, it really is a hoot. Here's a link to the video when the Dirt Rooster gave it to me. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
ua-cam.com/video/a5wNmIzQQ-g/v-deo.html
It would be mighty funny if you stuck a smoke detector inside a bee box to scare people when they smoke the bees
Thank you so much for what you're doing for the bees !!!
Thank you for your kind words and your support for the effort I make to save bees. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. This hive continues to grow and thrive in it's new location at the abbey. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. I post a new video every Friday morning. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I've checked some more video and i will keep checking them :) I also work with animals so i'm happy when i see other humans doing great work for on keens :) Keep up the good work
You make removals look so easy and clean.
Mr. Ed
Simply... lol...lol...love the fun between you two!
Laughter makes the world go round. In case you missed this video, check it out. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Looked more like vandalism then an attempted removal. Even as new as I am to beekeeping I could have told them they was doing it wrong. No way the bees could fix that. Thank god for you sir.
Mr. Ed
Thank you for your blessing William, and keep me posted on your bee keeping journey. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed - They actually make duct tape with bees printed on it ! ! :-)
Now I'm going to have to find me some of that and put it in my work box. Thanks for the heads up and for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
What happens to the little stragglers that don't get vacuumed?
It is always my hope that those girls will make it to another hive. Because they were forager bees, there will be a greater likely hood of the new bees accepting a bee bringing in food. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
great job mister ed be safe and have a blessed day
Thank you for your kind words, your blessing, and for following along with my bee wrangling adventures. God's peace John.
Mr.
Mr. Ed
That hive removal looked very difficult to remove from a tight space
It was difficult, and have you you heard me mention, I don't like working up high. I'm very happy everything turned out well though. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
You take such gentle care of God's little bees, it is a sadness to see all the bees that were not saved by the first effort of others. So happy you were able to rescue the others, and to see you had a Life Alert since you were working up so high, God bless.
Thank you! Looking forward to learning from you, about these beautiful, hard working insects. To me, the defination of insects , does not fit them at all!
I'm delighted you are following along. Any questions you have, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching. God's peace Rosamaria.
Mr. Ed
That is mind boggling. How long had they been in there to have established themselves so much?!
It was Lacombe, La. between Slidell and Mandeville, not LeCompte. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
just found your videos how lovely and your smile is fab and the bee are safe with you god bless you
Again, thank you for your blessing, receiving them is one of the best perks I have for having a UA-cam channel. I'm delighted you have discovered my channel, and I look forward to hearing from you often. Til then, God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Look forward to your videos each week!
Very kind of you to bee so faithful in following along with my bee wrangling adventures, thank you very much. Till next Friday. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
That is so sad. Even on my first removal as a new beekeeper, I had done enough research to know better.
You should have pressed that life alert button when your smoker burned .....😆
Hello! Mr Ed here!
Have a nice weekend Mr Ed here! And everyone who watched this video!
E você também meu amigo. A paz de Deus.
Mr.
Mr. Ed
Good job! Good that you wore your “Life Alert” so you were safe. Lol!
I always work better when I know I'm working safely. Thanks for watching.God's peace.
Mr.
Mr. Ed
ua-cam.com/video/1opv70l9jtY/v-deo.html
I wanted to ask if you would be able to save some of the hive they broke in the box?
I think you are being harsh, they TRIED, they failed, hopefully they learned😊
Mr Ed, can you vacuum up the robber bees into that colony also?
Some were vacuumed no doubt, but I try not to do it, they will fight each other in the bee vac just like they will do on the hive itself. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
How much of the brood was lost when the first attempt was made?
I do not know exactly, but the section of comb that was removed was the thick of the brood. As it turned out, the queen was a real layer and built the hive back up so quickly I split them 5 weeks later, and then 2 weeks ago I pilled over 4 gallons of honey off of the split. These are great bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Were you able to save any of the brood that was cut before you got there?
No, it had been unattended for over 48 hours, and there was honey on a bunch of also. Still, I was able to melt it all down. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I'd like to know how your alert works. Is it like I've fallen and I can't get up, that kind?
The Life Alert is just a joke that my buddy the 628 Dirt Rooster, another bee wrangler from Mississippi, gave me. It's nothing more than a smoke detector, but we get a bunch of laughs from it. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
When you take bee back to abbey how do they know what queen to follow? Or When you requeen a hive?
The bees in the hive are attracted to the pheromone of the queen from that hive. They know her smell, and look for it when separated. If I requeen a hive, they will learn the new smell of the new queen. Good question. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Was that capped brood comb in the box? Is it still viable if put on a frame in the hive will the bees emerge?
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff do you mind if I ask what you use for your editing platform?
Final Cut Pro X
Thanks for doing it right you and JP the bee man are my favorite to watch because you guys do it right the other did not but I love how you do your job
Thank you for your kind words and support John, they are greatly appreciated. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
How can I get one of those vacuum that you use I live in Jamaica
I built the vacuum myself, and the link below is how I built it. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
