I enjoy watching curated "flashbacks. I was shocked by the vast number of robber bees! Wow! By the way, I'm wracking my brain trying to recall if I've ever heard you explain where the name "Mr. Ed" came from?
I know Mr. Ed will chime in to answer you, but he told us a while back that he was once a postman and that was his nickname. He liked it and kept it even after retiring from the post office. Did I get that right Mr. Ed?
Hey Kate, sorry I missed you in Quincy, I was hoping we could meet finally. As far as why the name "Mr. Ed," that is the most asked question about me, and here is the answer to it. The name "Mr. Ed" was given to me the day I began working at the Post Office back in '82. Then, for the next 27 years while working at the PO, that is what everyone called me. When I started my UA-cam channel, because I loved the name so much, I decided to call myself that. Until the next time, God's peace. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Thank you for the explanation. I figured you had probably explained many times but my brain is a sieve sometimes! I was super bummed that I couldn't make it to Quincy but I didn't get back from my trip in time. I hope I'll have another chance. 🙏🏻
As I have removed bees from that area of Covington so many times over the years, I probably have done just that. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
The easiest way for me to tell the difference is the behavior. The hive bees will only fly to where the entrance of the hive was located and then huddle up. Robber bees are nervous acting and will land anywhere they can to get some honey. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Heather. Mr. Ed
In all the years I have been keeping bees, almost 45 years, and all the years I have been doing hive removals, over 12 years, thankfully, I have NEVER encountered Africanized bees. I'm sure sooner or later I will, but until that day arrives I'll just count my blessings. When robbing occurs, unless you see it right away, it often leads to the downfall of a colony. If you do catch it as it is happening, I have found by sealing off the hive completely is the best thing to do. Generally, I leave the hive sealed for 3 days, by that time the robber bees have either become part of the hive, or killed. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. Yes, before a swarm takes off, hey gorge themselves with honey. This is the only food source for them before they start to build new comb to store food. It is in the nature for bees to swarm, it is there method of survival. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff ty for such a detailed answer and I plan on watching more of ur vids. I'm really interested in this whole saving the bees instead of killing them thing. The whole bee keeping is really interesting to me. Since I've started watching these kinds of videos I'm much nicer to bees when they fly around me...I don't swat at them anymore I just stay still til they realize I'm not a flower and fly away. I'm also very careful anytime I go to smell flowers so I don't hurt any bees accidentally with my big clumsy hands lol.
On many removals I have to use two be buckets as there are to many bees in the hive to put them all in just one bucket. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Strooong! Professor Ed. Wish I could have met you at the conference in Conroe, TX. BTW, where has wreck it Ralph gone to??
I'm sure our paths will cross one day, just bee ready. Since Ralph has a full time job, and now he's on the road with his RV, he does not wrangle bees as much as he did. However, he will make appearances from time to time. God's peace brother.

Sr. Ed
For anyone curious - It's $165 US per person for the three day conference for the NA Bee Conference.
A steep price, but with the discounts that are offered by the vendors in attendance, the savings will more than recoup the cost of the ticket. Plus, what an opportunity to meet so many other bee keepers and listen to the speakers. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Oh, gee...I didn't mean that was expensive. Just thought I would let folks know if they still wanted tickets. Heck, a lot of people will pay twice this for a 5 hour concert. This is a bargain. Especially with all of the conference presented to you in HD to take home.
We want to go how do we go about getting tickets…😊
Goggle North American Honey Bee Expo and hit the ticket box. That's all there is to it. See you there Susie. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

Who was that smart young faced fella who presented this old video? There's a likeness... Is it your grandson?? 😛😇😁😁😁
Just a guy I used to know. And to let you know, today I just aged another year, now I'm 67. God's peace brother.

🎉🎉congratulations and many happy returns! You’ve got 9 years on me! (Looks at youthful self in mirror )
Time goes fast. To fast.😂 but are you any wiser me no but wider lol.
I fall in the same category. God's peace brother.

Would you be willing to share the link to the video on Discovery? I have googled and haven’t had any luck finding them.
I'd love to, but I can't for the life of me remember what the series was called or the episode my video was in, sorry. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Thanks Jeff.....does anyone have a link to the Discovery Channel show? Or, what it was entitled?
I would like to know that too. I would like to know what show it was and episode and season numbers.
Sorry Rick, it was so long ago I don't remember what the series was called or what the episode my video was about was called either. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
On such a big hive there do you think there might be a 2nd Queen bee.
It is not impossible for that to happen, but not on this one. God's peace Ray.

Mr. Ed
You nailed it Loren, God's peace.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Thank you for the explanation. I figured you had probably explained many times but my brain is a sieve sometimes!
I was super bummed that I couldn't make it to Quincy but I didn't get back from my trip in time. I hope I'll have another chance. 🙏🏻
Is it possible that these robber bees might belong to a hive that you will eventualy be called to go and and pick up and save?
As I have removed bees from that area of Covington so many times over the years, I probably have done just that. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
How do you know which bees are from the hive & which ones are robber bees?. They all look the same to me. ❤🇦🇺

Thankyou for answering my question. 🙏🏻🇦🇺
Hive alive to the expo we’re the speakers are does it mean we can hear them speak sir Mr Edd
I will be attending the North American Honey Bee Expo not Hive Life, and yes, I will be a speaker. god's peace Nola.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed, do you ever encounter africanized killer bees when you remove a hive and what do you do ???
In all the years I have been keeping bees, almost 45 years, and all the years I have been doing hive removals, over 12 years, thankfully, I have NEVER encountered Africanized bees. I'm sure sooner or later I will, but until that day arrives I'll just count my blessings. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Joseph.

What to do when one colony (apis cerana indica) invasion to another and there are many dead bees outside hive
Does the residential colony survive
When robbing occurs, unless you see it right away, it often leads to the downfall of a colony. If you do catch it as it is happening, I have found by sealing off the hive completely is the best thing to do. Generally, I leave the hive sealed for 3 days, by that time the robber bees have either become part of the hive, or killed. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

I bought some local honey recently and it has a minty after taste to it, is that bc the bees got into a bunch of mint plants?
I could not say so with all certainty, but it is a pretty good guess that they did. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Josh.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff I've been watching you and Yappy and the Dirt Rooster for a couple months now, it's got me interested in beekeeping.
So if they swarm they eat their honey? What would make them swarm?
Yes, before a swarm takes off, hey gorge themselves with honey. This is the only food source for them before they start to build new comb to store food. It is in the nature for bees to swarm, it is there method of survival. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

Have you ever ran more than 2 bee 🐝 vacuum cleaner at the same time.
On many removals I have to use two be buckets as there are to many bees in the hive to put them all in just one bucket. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

I saw that Queen cell at the end, were you able to use that and emerge a Queen from it? Thank you Jesus! If you did. I know it might be hard to remember 5 years ago. Thx again brother, another great video.
I could not say if I used it or not, but I'm sure I did. God's peace Brian.

Where can I find that episode at?

No "thank you Jesus," but I did say thanks to God for letting us find the queen. Back then, we had not even met Charlie, but now, there's hardly an adventure he is not there with me. Thanks for watching. God's peace Ron.
