What a great comment! I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Jeff Horchoff l am wondering if you are still catching bees at the bee hive house? That place blows my mind!! I think one of these days you might see that old Dirt Rooster lurking about. 😁
That location is only productive during the swarm season, though I checked it last week just hoping to find a new hive, but nothing was there. God's peace Chelsea. Mr. Ed
This is 1 of the many things I like about you Mr Ed. you don't just remove the combs and that's it like quite a few bee youtubers do (infact I unsub'd to a few for only doing that) .You vacuum them to transport, you help the Abbey by placing the hives there. To quote a line from the blues brothers " we're on a mission from God" you and the bees. God Bless and many more hive relocations, many more containers of honey!

You can tell by Mr Eds smile that he is a really really nice guy. Great video. I am thinking about beekeeping but I think it is more work than I am willing to do.
I've been wearing that same smile now for 62 years, and I'm very fond of it myself. I wanted to suggest to you to find a bee club in your area and join it now. You do not need to have bees to belong to a club, just a love for them. You will meet some really great folks who can give you valuable information on keeping bee in the area you live and that is very important. Folks up north keep bees different from folks down south, food and climate have everything to do with it. Let me know how you progress goes. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Wow. the person who dropped that tree was very precise about where it was to go, and it missed two young trees, falling right between them (trimmed a few of their branches though). And then you opened it up masterfully! Oh I do love that laugh when you cage the queen! And she was a real beauty, big and caramel colored! Wow! Shame about their comb but you did them a great favor. It may have been Armageddon to them, but you saved them! Its beautiful to see the way our Lord blesses us when we are doing His work. Thank you sir, it's a joy to watch you!
You are way to nice with all the kind words you send in my direction, thank you. It's a pleasure for me to share my experiences and my joy to any who would care to tune in, and I'm very happy that you are one of them. God's peace Julie. Mr. Ed

It is very interesting removing bees from tree. I have done many of them, and they do prove unique in the challenges they offer. God's peace Rick. Mr. Ed
It's always a better rescue if the comb can be given back to them, but often it is not the case. It's better in the long run for the bees to have different comb if the comb has been saturated in honey. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

But the good thing is now they can live and not die. Thanks once again for being you sir, and educating us on the world of beekeeping.
Hello Carolyn, yeah I check on Mr.Ed every Friday. He gets my weekend going. I got real worried about you though. I haven't heard from you in such a long time. Actually people that you may remember have been asking me about you. People from the DoDo. I don't go there to comment much anymore though. I really wish you would get on Facebook. We could talk everyday there, and share thoughts and ideas. Weve had some problems with Ivory girl. But I can't get into that here. We had to put Missy down in the summer, A coyote got ahold of her and messed her up real bad. Nearly killed Sharons heart. Please Carolyn look into Facebook. I looked all over for you there but couldn't find you. You're my longest friendship on the internet. Best friend as well. BTW thanks for the blessing. Hope to see you there.

You are in my prayers morning and evening!

I've got a question that maybe someone here in the comments can help with. I want to get a couple of hives going for my garden, but I need to surround them with something that honeybees can pass through, but asian hornets cannot. The asian hornets around here have wiped out most of the hives in my area and we're lucky to see 4 or 5 honeybees throughout the summer. Maybe something like hardware cloth? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Wow, you really do have a unique situation. I am sorry, but I have nothing to offer as a solution. Come on folks, can anyone help out? I really hope there is a solution to this problem. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Another wrangle, well done Mr. Ed. You’ve got skills with that saw! Were you a log artist before a beekeeper? LOL! Glad it all worked out and hopefully the colony is doing well now. First thing I also noticed was how little brood was inside the hive and with its size I’m guessing it was near time for a split and swarm. Looking forward to an update and keep up the great work! Good Bless!
Thank you so much for the blessing, I'll take all that are sent my way. Bee keepers have to wear many hats, and those that wrangle bees have to wear many more hats, chainsaw handling is one of those hats. I think that hive had recently, in the past 3 or 4 weeks, swarmed judging by the lack of both new and old brood in the comb. The good news is that they are doing very well now, lets just hope they can make it through the winter.....we shall see. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed

Because the tree was dead, and it had been dying for more than 4 years, it was constantly dropping limbs from it. The homeowners had a day care business in their home and the children often would play in the yard. Because there was no telling when the tree would fall on it's own accord due to it's rotten state, they erred on the safety of the children, not the bees as they should, and dropped the tree. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr.Ed
Good Job Jeff!!! How are they doing now? My removal from trees have never been very successful surviving unless I did a forced abscond. Thanks again for the great videos.
These bees are doing very well. Any time bees are forcibly evicted and relocated, it is very stressful for them as you well know. Each removal has to have it's own consideration as to the housing of them as this will greatly effect their decision to stay or perish for what ever reason. Time and experience will help choosing the considerations. I will say this, I rely heavily on prayers, and I attribute moat of my successes to it. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Wonder why you have bees down there ?? Up here in Pa There are no feral bees I consider my self lucky to see a bee any more and i plant lots of stuff for them Even the #s of bumble bees have been in a steady decline !! My blue basil use to be covered and now only a few . Could you please send a few this way !!
It is so sad to hear how folks in some parts of our country see so few honey bees, you are one of many that have relaid that story to me. I truly hope things turn around, and bees become abundant again by you. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I get so nervous watching tree felling! It's incredible to witness but so nerve wracking even though they know what they're doing! Excitement! I was nervous! LOL You could say I have a very healthy respect for falling trees! Were you hoping the tree would break open as it fell so you didn't have to cut it up and disturb them with more vibration and so it would be less work since you weren't giving them their comb in the hive setup?
Remind me never to ask you if you can cut a tree next to my house. I was hoping when the tree hit the ground it would just split open, after all, it really was rotten, but that never happened. I alway have every intention to give the bees their own comb, but I am always ready for the unexpected. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Out of the hundred plus removals I have done over the years, not once have the homeowners asked for the bees. Of course, they'd be welcome to them, but so far, none have wanted them. Many have gotten honey, but no bees. I do not charge to remove the bees, but I do ask for those that can afford it, to make a donation to the abbey to continue our bee rescue program. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

@Jeff Horchoff Mr Ed. Where can I find an explanation of what happened to you at the end of 'Look What Was Under Her Bed'? No one in the comments of the video asked either. Very odd. What's going on?
The explanation is simple, as I was holding the queen cage in the air and speaking, a bee stung me on the tip of my nose. As much as it hurt, it was funny as heck, and needed to be put in the video. Because there were so many comments, you just missed it, there were several folks that commented on it. I'm very happy to see you checking out more of my channel, I greatly appreciate it. Could you have dried out the honeycomb or have the tree cutter lower the tree with as little disturbance as possible. I would be traumatized after a fall like that. Thank You Loader.
The tree was so rotten, there was no safe way of bringing the tree down to lessen the trama to the bees other than by just cutting it. My presence there was the best possibility of these bees surviving. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Jeez, that's a big tree for back in those parts.. To think of all the things it's seen in it's life time.. probably more than a few not so good things too.. As the saying went "strange fruit hanging from a poplar tree" (though more commonly pine) ...I'm getting sentimental in my old age, and I'm only just about to turn 33 on the 21st! (think what I will be like at 50+! :P) Man, that's something you'd never guess you'd get used to so quickly and actually grow to miss... the ever present sound of cicadas. Kinda miss living in Mississippi sometimes.. (especially during firework season!) Question: Is there any way there could've been two queens in a hive that size? Maybe they prepared to swarm but the rain locked them in and the second queen hatched and they totally forgot about her?
My guess is that the hive had already swarmed prior to when I removed them as evidence of the limited amount of brood and the time of the year. Still, there were a good number of bees, and they were in very good health. Keep getting wise, it's way better than stagnating. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

When a tree that has bees inside of it falls, very often the comb, which is attached to the inside of the trunk, is violently jarred when the trunk hits the ground. This ruptures the honey cells which begin leaking honey and eventually covers the comb thus making the comb "wet'" and yes, like rain. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed
If I had not removed the bees from the tree, they would have died due to all the hive beetles that were in the hive as well as all the wet comb. God's peace. Mr. Ed

I think you should consider becoming a bee keeper, I watch my bees every single day for the very reason you state, it's just so cool. I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you on some of them. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
when ever you look at those thumbs ups on your videos you can be sure that one of those on each of them are mine. i'd love to keep bees, ive been fascinated by them since i was a small child. sadly where I live it is not suitable so I just enjoy watching the videos you share :)
@@dchubad Then keep on watching, and hitting that thumbs up, I really appreciate it. Till next Friday, God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thank you for caring about their removal so much! They are living things just like the rest of us.
It is my joy to save the bees, and then it's my pleasure to share the experience. Thank you for following along. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I thank Jesus for guiding me to your channel, Jeff, and the Dirt Rooster, too! You guys are a blessing. Thanks for your sharing your knowledge, and for your great and entertaining videos. You are a great ambassador for Jesus, and for beekeeping!
Thank you for all your kind words William, but the praise belongs to providence and God. I'm more than happy to be the instrument of delivery, and thank you for tuning in. Till next week. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
God bless Mr. Ed! Long may those ladies prosper.
Thank you for the blessing for me and the bees. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
So good to see you Jeff! You have passed fifty thousand subs! 🎉 I love your videos and the shared knowledge. 💕
And it's always nice to see your name in the comments Chelsea as well. The channel has been blessed and continues to be blessed as the subscribers continue to rise, thank you everyone! I'm happy to share the little knowledge of bees I know, but all the joy that is inside of me.
Mr. Ed
I love the march and I also love when you scoop them up by the hadfuls.
Two of my most favorite aspects of bee wrangling also. Thanks for watching. God's peace Samantha.
Mr. Ed
These videos never fail to cheer me up!
So glad to bring cheer to this world. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr.
Thank you for your blessing and kind words Darlene, they are greatly appreciated, Next to Blazing Saddles, the first Blues Brothers movie is one of the best movies ever made. Thanks for watching, and till the next one, God's peace.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff You are most welcome! You're very well spoken, soft spoken and doesn't use totally unnecessary profanity.I'm learning a lot about their wonderful inner workings.

@@JeffHorchoff Oh I do and thank you soo much for your work. God Bless!

Great job Jeff. I am glad that you are keeping the wax from that tree. It will make a lot of candles for the Abbey. God bless you Jeff.
Thank you for your blessing JJ, you never fail to give one, This wax will go back to our bees, I use the cappings from the honey comb for the wax, it's a bit better quality. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
I didn't know I needed this until today! The world needs more people like you!
So kind of you to say that, thank you, and thanks for watching and leaving your comment. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Wow. the person who dropped that tree was very precise about where it was to go, and it missed two young trees, falling right between them (trimmed a few of their branches though).

This was one of the more interesting bee removal videos I seen. Pretty cool.
It is very interesting removing bees from tree. I have done many of them, and they do prove unique in the challenges they offer. God's peace Rick.
Mr. Ed
I would like to see a whole hive get rescued without losing comb but nice job rescuing the queen and her workers Jeff
It's always a better rescue if the comb can be given back to them, but often it is not the case. It's better in the long run for the bees to have different comb if the comb has been saturated in honey. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed

Mr. Ed
That was a very informative description of the video. I didn't know you use frozen comb. I keep learning so much from you!
I do not use "frozen" comb, it was in the freezer to kill any eggs that were in there, but the comb was ambient temperature when it was put into the bee box. Keep on asking and learning. God's peace.

Well bless your heart Mr. Ed. I always get the feeling it bothers you to have to wrangle bees from a downed tree. It does me, knowing that the home front is being destroyed. But the good thing is now they can live and not die. Thanks once again for being you sir, and educating us on the world of beekeeping.
Dammit Boy So nice to see you here. God bless you and your family!
Dammit Boy I apologize for the lack of communicating, but I’ve been dealing with pain...
As for facebook? I’ll pray about it...I don’t have a good opinion about personal social media, and I do what I can to not get wrapped up in earthly matters...I will specifically pray about facebook, dearly beloved! You are in my prayers morning and evening!
It does not trouble me anymore to do a removal from a tree than from a structure, it's just unfortunate that the bees have to be disturbed, especially when they are doing just fine where they are. Regardless, when the bee have to go, I'm just happy I have the opportunity to rescue them. It' always my pleasure to share my experiences of wrangling bees and the joy I receive doing it.

What i dont get is why someone would pull down a tree knowing theres bees making a home in it,what harm were they doing if the tree was dead anyway?
Mr. Ed
Did the tree fall on the well?
No, it did not. The fella did a very good job laying the tree down. I'm just glad I did not have to do it.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff No, I am absolutely not the person to ask to cut any tree! LOL
Can the home owners keep the hive, make a donation to your abby?
Out of the hundred plus removals I have done over the years, not once have the homeowners asked for the bees. Of course, they'd be welcome to them, but so far, none have wanted them. Many have gotten honey, but no bees. I do not charge to remove the bees, but I do ask for those that can afford it, to make a donation to the abbey to continue our bee rescue program. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

Very interesting watching these videos. My friend started keeping a year or two back and does well with it. Seem his products on IG.
Nice chainsaw work. Glad you were able to save the hive.
You know for yourself, bee keepers wear MANY different hats. The bees are well, and I am grateful. God's peace brother.
Mr.
Looking forward to hearing from you again, God's peace.

God bless you Mr Ed you are a star 🐝
Thank you for the blessing, I love it, but I'm no star, just a guy who loves wrangling bees and sharing the joy of it. God's peace.

About how many bees were in that hive, even a guess of how many?
There were easily 15,000 bees, almost 10 pounds of them in this hive. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. god bless u sir!! u saved those bees=)
Thank you very much for your blessing, I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance.
Mr. Ed
This video made me want some honey!
I can understand that, there was a lot of dripping honey in this one. Thanks for watching. God's peace Harry.
Mr. Ed
Awesome video Jeff - You need to start selling off some of your swarm catches you have so many now......
^ swarm king right there^
I'm still building the yards, the monks have an insatiable appetite for honey. I hope all is well with you JP, and the referral I have been sending, you are receiving. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
How do you deal with American Foul Brood disease in your hives?
The only way to deal with AFB is to burn everything, it's the only way to stop the spread of the spores. Fortunately, I have never experienced it in any of our yards. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
very nice Mr.Ed.You are a blessing, and very good at what you do.
Terry Vincent
Yes he is amazing at his job!
Terry, thank you for your kind words, but I truly believe it's all a grace, and that's what I'm thankful for. I'm just a guy who loves wrangling bees and sharing the experiences and the joy of it. God's peace my brother.
Mr.
Mr. Ed
What made you want to do this? I'm curious 😁 I absolutely love your videos and I'm definitely a fan 😁💖 I am always checking out your videos and always checking if you've uploaded a video 😁👍🏻
What makes me wrangle bees is my complete fascination by them. They are truly a wonder of the world, and as such, deserve attention and protection, I'm just trying to do my part. In case you are not aware, I post a new video every Friday morning. I'm looking forward to hearing from you again. Thanks for your support and for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Wet like from rain ?
When a tree that has bees inside of it falls, very often the comb, which is attached to the inside of the trunk, is violently jarred when the trunk hits the ground. This ruptures the honey cells which begin leaking honey and eventually covers the comb thus making the comb "wet'" and yes, like rain. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
your amazing,,,,,,,thank you jesus,,,
Just another day of bee wrangling......a good one, and of course an AMEN to end it. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Why van the bees stay in the tree.
If I had not removed the bees from the tree, they would have died due to all the hive beetles that were in the hive as well as all the wet comb. God's peace.
