Another great video Mr. Ed. Thank you for your detailed description of the importance of finding the queen during a cutout. Makes perfect sense but without your explanation, not necessarily obvious to new bee keepers. Keep the videos coming and we will continue watching.

I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I like it when you show more actual removal than pictures. Enjoyed seeing this creative beehive. The queen is a big fat long one! Hahaha you're not only getting more swarms than Dirtrooster you're seeing his subscribers first too!! Haha that was awesome!

Thank you for your written story. It warmed my heart. I am trying to learn as after I fuinish my current project I want to get a wild european bee hive on our property in a daed tree and give it to a beekeeper friend. I am also learning about Australian stingless bees to split a hive and put both inyyo boxes. Watching you has taught me a lot. Thank you for your time and experiences.
I believe my passion for bees is shared by the majority of bee keeper, and the welfare of the bees is a priority for us. Therefore, when I do a removal, I try and respect the bees position despite the fact that the bee have to be evicted. I am happy to hear your concerns for the bees under your protection as well. Please keep me posted on the progress of your bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

So I have to tell you that I tried to watch someone else pull a hive out of a floor joists and it was so sad that I had to turn it off ! They tore the hive all up and they stupidly killed thousands of bees! It broke my heart ! I actually felt sick to my stomach! I of course came and looked up one of your awesome video so I could watch someone who actually cared about the bees ! Thank you so much for caring and giving us awesome videos! God bless you Mr Ed !
First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAR FRIEND!!! 🎉 great video! Great catch! And what a surprise at the end!!! 🤪 Ya know, D is STILL driving around looking for the DirtRooster! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍 PS - this probably means I also need to bring you some birthday cookies 🍪 ✨😜
I was really hoping you'd see the video, I'm glad you did. the end was fantastic, thank you so much for doing that for me. Also, thank you for the BD wishes. God's peace to both of you. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff I did! and I still can’t get over how big that Queen was! Great catch! And you’re welcome my friend! Looking forward to next time! God Bless! 💕✨
I like them myself, and I do plan on making it a regular feature. Still, I hope you enjoyed the video as well. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
HEY, IT'S WRECK IT RALPH!! Mr. Ed l just don't know how that ole Dirt Rooster can handle your award winning bee recovery. I guess he is just going to have to step it up. Bee well Jeff! 💕
Chelsea, I got your letter yesterday. Thank you so much for all your kind words, and the time it took you to write them. It is so rare that someone makes the effort to write a real letter and then mail it. God's peace always. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff * l just appreciate the time you give to make and share these videos. I love seeing all of the people you work with, and everyone at the Abbey. I am just grateful that you all share a part of your world with all of us. I look forward to every video! 💕
WOW. That is one elusive BIG queen. And with the corralling maneuver these bees were doing, that is a Queen you want to keep! Possibly reproduce! Congrats gentlemen, I think you found a keeper! Happy Birthday Mr. Ed - may you always live in God's grace. Hugs to both of you! Julie
I attribute all the ability to grace, but I am very grateful for the gift. the homeowner said the bees had been there for 2 years, and I would believe that. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thank you very much, it was a great day! Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
To be short: I love your videos of your bee wrangling skills and the passion you have for it. I could say this on every video of you, but once is enough.
The pleasure is all mine. It gives me great joy sharing my bee wrangling experiences, and I am ever grateful to all who take the time to follow along. God's peace Margaret Mary. Mr. Ed
Multiple things for this hive and future videos: 1. That is the largest queen you have caught this year, comparing her with the one in the external hive removal. 2. I still haven't seen a 50,000+ bee removal, and I still believe you can find one. 3. That comb looks so old I think it's more than 5 years old. 4. I can't wait until you have an external hive removal or a hive in a tree or weird place for this year or next year. Lastly, I would like to point out, that's a lot of comb for 10,000 bees. Have a wonderful night (at least the time I have now 9:25 PM) and God bless you.
Thank you for all your suggestions and comments. Now, here's a few replies: 1. I don't know if she was the largest, but she was a very hefty one for sure. 2. I've come close to 50,000, but not yet. I bee leave it will happen too. 3. 2 years old according to the homeowner. 4. I've got THREE tree removal videos coming up. the videos are already made, I just have to post them, stay tuned. 5. Thank you for the blessing. and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. God's peace. Mr. Ed
So glad you enjoyed the video Blake, and if you are interested in keeping bees one day, may I suggest you find a bee club in your area and join it. You don't have to have bees to belong to a club, just a love for them is the main prerequisite. I hope to hear from you again. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I don't want to alarm you or anything, but there's something in your sleeve. Thank you for your blessing and BD wishes. I hope to hear from you again on more of my videos. God's peace Francis. Mr. Ed

Great job guys! Thanks for sharing! I got a call to relocate a huge yellow jackets nest! I'm going to ask you for some help Jeff as I have never done this! When can you come?
It's been a long time since I've heard from you Robert, I hope all is well especially with your yellow jacket removal service. I understand you have the market cornered in your town. Things are a bit slow for me right now, so I guess I can give you a hand with those pesky critters. Great to hear from you. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Jeff I did get a call today about a honey bee cutout, so I have a serious question! Would it be better to wait till spring, since we are getting close to fall? The lady is willing to wait! It gets a little colder here near the northern end of the state! Thanks for taking time to reply to everone!
What a grace God gives me. I'm kind of surprised you did not mention something on the lines of how the Rooster does it, but then again, how often does he find the queen? God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Most folks do not realize how much work it takes to remove and relocate a hive. I'm pretty sure that's why there are so few of us doing it. Thanks so much for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Can we see on a video the set up you have for the vacuum. On all the videos we can only see how you vacuum but love to see how you get things ready with the vacuum and where the bees going when they are vacuum in. God bless. And merry Christmas
I have posted a video on building the bee vac that I use, link below, but never one on how I use it. Because that is a really good idea for a video, I promise, I will make and post a video on that very topic in January. Thanks for the idea and for watching. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones as well. God's peace. Mr. Ed
It is truely awesome how the bees will adapt to their habitate. Let it be an old hollow tree, a log, a box and in the sofit. Great video. God Bless you all. Until the next time. Bee sate. Tim
As always, thank you for your blessing Tim, what a joy to receive it. Like you, I am always amazed how the bees configure their comb to fit the space the hive occupies. I will say this, they did not make it easy for me to extract them from this space due to the many nooks and crannies. Till next time. God's peace my brother. Mr. Ed
Congratulations on finding the queen. Do people ever keep a wild colony in their house or garden? Live with the bees? I wouldn't mind having bees under my eaves.
What a blessing to have found her right at the end! Yes, I have encouraged people to leave the bees in their homes as they were no threat to anyone, and they went along with the idea. I can think of 3 people who have done exactly as you proposed. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
YAAAAAAY RALPH who needs his own channel and you always get the queen so I thought you might be concerned about a BIG bacon/shrimp eater bearing down on you! GOOD ONE, Buddy and GBWYou this weekend!
It was a nice story again. Sucessful as the most time as I know you that time I´ve found you here. Yeah, it at least not a minor thing to double check up all over the workplace before closing up and go to home. :) Nice Queen, she will doing really well with this hive. And if I read it right here..you have birthday? So then Happy Birthday from night-dark Germany and wishing you all the best and the funniest part of the life. Keep going on with your positive charakter and passion. Greetings from Germany, Peter!
I was so happy to have found that queen after searching for her so diligently. Yes, I did have a BD yesterday, I'm 62 now. Thank you for your wonderful BD wish and for following along with all my bee wrangling adventures. God's peace Peter. Mr. Ed
great to hear that, Jeff. I believe you, that a big stone fell of you, when you found the queen. Also did I read it right :D, so then hope you had a great day with your family and friends. Every age is it worth to celebrate. No matter if it in small or big size. It´s a pleasure and I enjoy your journey/adventures with all the bee wrangling. Was this year some tried pick up bees, which went to a small or big fail? Sunny greeting goes to Louisiana! :)
Not everyone is meant to be a bee keeper, but still you can appreciate the importance of bees and the role they play in our very survival as pollinators. Plus, they make honey. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thank you very much Emily, and I had considered using your suggestion. However, UA-cam is very funny with a lot of things, and I did not want to incur their wrath. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Great video as always. That was one big hive with a lot of girls to boot. I hear there is a Mr. Ed hat out there, is one available ? It would be nice to get my hands on one. Take care and god bless. I will be waiting on the taco video hopefully coming soon 😜
That's what you get when you get your info from the Dirty Rooster. Sorry, Mr Ed does not do merchandise, I've got enough on my plate as it is. The Taco Bell video is coming VERY soon, stay tuned. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
100% I would have dropped in a new frame of brood and they would have made another queen. That's one way of doing it, and one of my favorite ways. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
That was a couple that know and live very near the Dirt Rooster, and they were passing through my area. They phoned and asked if they could come by for a visit, and what you saw was what I saw when they pulled up. It was hilarious. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You just never know who's going to show up at the abbey. That was a couple that know and live very near the Dirt Rooster, and they were passing through my area. Thank you for another nice video. I've just helped my mentor (she says she isn't a mentor but she teaches me so much about respect for bees) do a cut out from a possum box. It was only my second experience doing a cut out. A quick question if I may: do you have any tips on how to handle comb that is full of brood and heavy with capped honey, to try to minimise damage to the comb and avoid killing the very young nursery bees all over it? I don't have a vacuum cleaner box. Thank you, and please keep the videos coming. I'm learning all the time. Bruce in Largs North, South Australia.
It is very difficult to get brood comb framed up when it is heavy with honey, if the honey should run over the capped brood, they are done for. For that reason, I will put very little honey on brood frames to keep them as dry as possible. Either way, it is a difficult situation, and you will have to use your best judgement when doing it. Build yourself a bee vac and save yourself a lot of trouble. Here's the link to the one I use myself. Best wishes to you Bruce. Keep me posted on your progress. God's peace. Mr. Ed ua-cam.com/video/tV3mR39v6RA/v-deo.html
Thank you so much, I'm very glad you liked the video. Comb that has had brood, eggs, laid in it will be darker due to the cocoons that are left in the cell after the bee emerges. Honey storage cell are generally clear because nectar is the only thing stored in them. Good question. Thanks for asking and watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
That was the older, brood comb part of the hive. The white comb was brand new and only had honey stored in it so it was not dark. Good question. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I t was another great day of wrangling with Wreck It Ralph, and everything worked out very well.So glad you liked the video, and thanks for following along. God's peace. Mr. Ed
That is exactly why I remove as much comb as possible. Unfortunately, bees will often move right back in even after all the comb has been removed. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Okie, what's your hat size, the Rooster wants to send you one too. They are very stylish, but don't hold up well in the wash. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Very interesting video! The beetle corral was cool to see! Is that only certain genetics that would exhibit that behavior? I had no doubt you would find that queen! :D
I would have to believe it is only certain genetics as I do not find this behavior in all bees. Have you ever heard how much I love finding the queen? Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Poor Raphael You know he's going to have a hard time with them> Cause its so late in the year He going to really have to baby set em. I hope they make it
We pulled those bees out at the end of April right before the flow, and they are doing fantastic now. He did not get any honey from them this year, but he will next year if they make it through the winter. These bees are in 2 deep supers right now. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Yep rare that ya get honey on a swarm package bees ect. 1st yrs/ Like ya said NEXT Year is another story. Cool sound like they will make it He still needs to kept a eye on make sure they got SUGAR he hee i said SUGAR not HONEY i've seen them starve to death and have plenty of honey. cheers brother
oh gee whillickers......when i saw what you later explained was what the bees built to kill the beetles....my first reaction was that it was part of a GIANT SPIDER!!!! I even kinda jumped back in my seat!!!!

It most certainly will. The best way of preventing a return of bees is to seal the area up tight. Otherwise, I'll be getting a phone call to remove more bees. God's peace David. Mr. Ed
Here is a link to one of the videos I made showing exactly what you describe. I think you are the first viewer from Uruguay to leave a comment, thank you. And thank you for watching, I hope to hear from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed ua-cam.com/video/sq-fG7qW8g8/v-deo.html
I am so glad you enjoyed the video, it warms my heart to hear folks say that. Bees mainly swarm in the spring time and it coincides with a nectar flow, this is just the natural instinct of the honey bee. However, there are other times when bees swarm due to outside conditions such as attacks from insects or other bees. Very good question. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
And at the end, Her Grace shows up that she had held the fort until the end. How successful are attempts to go round and scrape off the last bits of comb? I may be of use to show how you repair after cutting or breaking in to reach bees.
Jeff, so pleased to see Ralph and SO delighted you found Momma! God was guiding you Sir! 😊

10:15 -- You are indeed good when it comes to catching the queen !
Judging from the dark color of the comb, that colony had been there for a while.
I attribute all the ability to grace, but I am very grateful for the gift. the homeowner said the bees had been there for 2 years, and I would believe that. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

Multiple things for this hive and future videos:
Now, here's a few replies:
Mr. Ed
Great video, it really showed how complex your retrieval was. I hope to someday start having bees of my own.
So glad you enjoyed the video Blake, and if you are interested in keeping bees one day, may I suggest you find a bee club in your area and join it. You don't have to have bees to belong to a club, just a love for them is the main prerequisite. I hope to hear from you again. God's peace brother.

I will say this, they did not make it easy for me to extract them from this space due to the many nooks and crannies. Till next time. God's peace my brother.

God's peace.

awesome that you found the queen
I was in disbelief when I saw her, and greatly relieved to know she was OK. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
What's the likelihood that they would've been able to requeen themselves if you hadn't found the queen?
100% I would have dropped in a new frame of brood and they would have made another queen. That's one way of doing it, and one of my favorite ways. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
How can that guy think you were the dirt Rooster lol...… You look nothing like him ha ha ha that was funny Jeff

Imaginative carpentry indeed!!! My goodness that is a pain in the butt if ever I saw one!
Mr. Ed
ua-cam.com/video/tV3mR39v6RA/v-deo.html
Great vid as always. Why are some of the comb so dark?
Thank you so much, I'm very glad you liked the video. Comb that has had brood, eggs, laid in it will be darker due to the cocoons that are left in the cell after the bee emerges. Honey storage cell are generally clear because nectar is the only thing stored in them. Good question. Thanks for asking and watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Why was the hive so dark on the one side?😊⛪🙏👍
That was the older, brood comb part of the hive. The white comb was brand new and only had honey stored in it so it was not dark. Good question. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Another great video. Well done and thanks
I t was another great day of wrangling with Wreck It Ralph, and everything worked out very well.So glad you liked the video, and thanks for following along. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
do you scrape off all the wax from the wood to try and not entice new swarms from colonizing?
That is exactly why I remove as much comb as possible. Unfortunately, bees will often move right back in even after all the comb has been removed. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
How do they know that's there Queen, do smell here or see her and know her?
The bees know the queen's pheromone and can detect it from a great distance as well. Good question Joe. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Was that one of the free 628 Dirt Rooster caps
Okie, what's your hat size, the Rooster wants to send you one too. They are very stylish, but don't hold up well in the wash. God's peace brother.

So won’t the smell from the leftovers attract a swarm of bees to that location at sometime in the future?
It most certainly will. The best way of preventing a return of bees is to seal the area up tight. Otherwise, I'll be getting a phone call to remove more bees. God's peace David.
Mr. Ed
You should show us after removing the bees and how do you free them in the new frames. Greets from Uruguay, i love your videos

ua-cam.com/video/sq-fG7qW8g8/v-deo.html
Great video, thanks. Do bees swarm at anytime or is the behaviour seasonal?
For "I may be of use ..." read "It may be of use ..." :: sorry typo.
Why did they swarm? Looks like a lot of room left?
Bees will naturally swarm regardless of room availability. Great question.God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
