    I grew up with Rotties and I've always hated the stigma that they're vicious and dangerous. If you train and raise them properly in the correct environment, they are fantastic family dogs.

      Exactly and the same with pit bulls it’s down to lazy owners who can’t be bothered to put the time and effort into raising and training the dogs right and then that’s where the problems happen because there using there instincts to defend there owners

      Exactly. Thanks for your message. Me to I had preconceptions before my first Rottweiler that came from a refuge. As you say "if you train and raise them properly in the correct environment, they are fantastic family dogs". I want to make a therapy dog out of my Rottie, and he will work in a school with children... Not without my Rottweiler 🤩🤩🤩

    My beautiful Rottie passed in 2020. She protected my jade workshop in Central America for 2 years, then kept the bears and squirrels away from my cabin in Colorado for 7 more years. She was there for me during my divorce, the toughest time of my life. I wouldn't have made it with out her. Te extrano mucho, mi Gran Xela!

    We had 3 Rotties in a row. Wonderful dogs. One had a hobby. He loved to collect stones from the river, carry them home and pile them up. He also was a peacemaker. When other dogs were showing unrelaxed behaviour, he was going in between and just by his presence the situation immediately calmed down.

    My incredible boy Max, passed yesterday from osteosarcoma (bone cancer). He was 9 years old on July 15, 2021. He was my 4th Rottie in 29 years! Yes, I've had Rottweilers since 1992 back when they first began to become really popular and have never been without one since. @jstxr dogs that are great family pets are just like their owners. You know you should check people out before you open you mouth. Dogs have different personalities. They are similar to a toddler in the way they behave and listen to you. Look it up if you don't believe me. Take a step back and look at it. You don't have to agree or disagree just look as an outsider. Training is up to the owner as to how much. I've had great Dogs that I have trained and showed in dog shows and others who learned without training. I had a male Rottweiler once. Oso and he was massive and very obedient but was never trained. I talk to my dogs like I do friends.

    I had a Rott for 19 years. We were once invited to a farm, and my wonderful Abby jumped into the cow field and herded them like she'd always been doing it. He loves almost every single person he has met (the 2 he didn't like were not good people) but he doesn't like any other animals. We rescued him from a home that just didn't want him as he was a burden dropped on them by that owners mother when he was 2. He's now 8 and still an awesome part of our family. Thanks for getting the message out there, Collin!
    In my experience, Rottweilers are some of the sweetest and most loyal four-legged friends a person can have. But as with any other breed of dog, especially the energetic ones, if they are mistreated or not trained and handled properly their energy, size and strength can lead to problems.
    Unless you know the detailed history of the dog you can rarely be 100% sure of what will trigger a "fight vs flight" episode. With such a big and powerful dog, either of those can be highly destructive to both the dog and people who get in their way.
    My father always used to say that there is no such thing as a bad dog, just a bad environment. But he also used to say that sometimes you find one you cannot save, and the only times I ever saw him cry (apart from at my mother's funeral) was when he had to put down a dog that was treated so badly that they became too twisted for anyone other than he and I to handle them.

      Very true about the stigma.
      Its a shame. They used to be high on the bite count record, and i dont understand that. Must be because of doing protection wirk or something, because they seem so stable and measured in person.

      Hubby and I are can’t decide what breed we want as a guard dog when we get a house, rottie or pittie. Rots were my 1st dog as a kid, we had a mom/dad and puppies. But now that I would be the sole owner im a little scared, i am 100lbs wet and dry, how can I manage a dog that will eventually weigh more then me? I want to be able to walk and take them out lol

    • @mikerudolph2419
      @mikerudolph2419 2 роки тому

      Before you get a Rottweiler, study 📚 up on the breed to see if it’s the right dog for you. If you do get one the top two things you want to do is training and socialization. This is very important. A well trained and behaved Rottweiler is a absolute joy to own. One that is not can be a dangerous thing.

    As a Rottweiler owner I find this video full of good commonsense advice. They are beautiful dogs but you do have to always be aware that they are also a very powerful guardian breed and it is up to us as owners to know our own dogs and to be aware of any potential "triggers" if you are taking them out for walks etc. Also, as mentioned in the video, adequate fencing is essential. Don't set your dog up for failure. Be the most responsible owner you can be.

      @@GreenlifeFin same triggers for most dogs on walks , an unleashed dog who is aggressive who comes running up to yours , or maybe a critter , I know mine can't resist chasing squirrels in the yard , common sense stuff , but some just do not like certain people , my German Shepherds will let me know if theyre not trustworthy , my Rottie loves everyone , he will go off with the Vet and get his shots done no problem, they love him and he's good with other animals, my GS's though are a nope, just different personalities, just know YOUR dog , is the key, I've seen small dogs become aggressive around larger dogs and that can trigger your larger dog to protect you , so just be aware.

    Omg I'm so happy I found your channel. I have 4 Rottweilers and a pit and they all get along so well. When I got my first Rottweiler she was so hard to train because I had zero experience with training them. I got my fourth one a few days ago and she loves her brothers and sisters. My pit is 1yrs old (girl). My first Rottweiler is 4yrs old (girl). My second Rott is 3(boy). My third is also 3(boy), and my fourth is 8 weeks (girl). My children love them and the dogs love my children. I definitely recommend getting a Rottweiler as a familiy/guard dog. Most people may say Rottweilers are vicious or mean but its really about how you train them they also need to be introduced to children at a young age.
