I got my first Rottweiler in 2019. She is 2 now and really the kindest, sweetest dog I have ever met. I've had many other breeds before but I think I am now spoiled for Rottweilers.
As a kid we had an intact jack Russell would do that, he'd run off and be found hours later stalking a female or sat on someone's front garden who had a bitch indoors he loved all the ladies
I am a breeder and I had commented randomly on a post in a Facebook Rottie page, I don't even know which one and you directed me here. I didn't expect anything at. Maybe someone just showing videos of their dogs. I was wrong! Love the channel! Love the advice and insight. Its all good and true information. Love what your doing for our breed!
There’s no such thing as German or American Rottweiler. There’s well bred and less well bred. The idea that Americans Rottweiler have longer faces etc is a myth. The dog either meets the breed standard or not. I’m surprised a breeder wouldn’t know this. Love the channel though.
The part about so called American and German Rottweiler is false information. An American Rottweiler is born in American but shouldn’t have a long face. And some German Rotts are way too flat faced. But there’s is one breed standard. The long face Labrador shaped head on so called American Rottweilers is simply poor breeding.
Just came across this, but I want to say thank you for taking the time to educate us on this beautiful breed. For once an intelligent channel that can help people learn about man’s best friend.
Your comments on male rotties being goofballs and being grown puppies is right on. Our male we lost 3/4/21 at almost 11 y/o was a huge goofball all the way to the end. Loved attention and thought everyone he met wanted to love on him. We would like to get another male, probably in the next year or so.
Great info, thank you for making this video! I have a female Rottie and she sticks to me like glue. My husband got her (from a shelter) for me when she was about 6 months old. . .she's 9 years old now. He can call her and 99% of the time, she ignores him if I'm around. :) Also, when he (pretends) like he's going to hit me or (pretends) to hug me aggressively, she starts growling & barking at him. I love her sooo much! I've had dogs all my life and for me a Rottie is in the top 3. (The other 2 are German Shephard & Pitt Bull).
My female Rottweiler (7 yrs now) is a boss lady! She is not one for easy friendships... she is tolerant of strangers outside but will not allow a stranger in to the house without my permission. I have an American Bully male (6 yrs)and a French Mastiff female (4yrs) as well... but my Rotti is the pack leader. She's independent, proud and confident and only affectionate with me and the family. Extremely attached to me and helps me with pack order. Over the years I have come to enjoy a good partnership with her and though I love all three of my dogs.. she's my girl who's been with me the longest and is my deputy. She's helped raise the other two and taught them to respect.
Yup. This is what I like from channels. I don't need the breed info or standards. I like people to share their first-hand experience in living with rotties, or any breed for that matter. We have a female german boxer, and love pretty much every big breed. So we really enjoy these videos, and we hope to get a rotties next after Hela, or even sooner :) Greetings from Macedonia.
Finally a channel about what makes a rottie a rottie without regurgitating breed standards. I've got an intact male rottie that's about to turn three. First rottie, first male and I've had to go through a huge learning curve. I'm used to small to medium sized, independent, female dogs so getting my boy was whiplash. Wouldn't trade him for the world, but man this channel could have saved me a lot of aches and pains (teenage asshole phase anyone?). Thank you, man.
I stumbled upon your channel yesterday. I’m glad I did! Very informative and educational! Subscribed! I very rarely subscribe to channels. Keep the videos coming. I appreciate it. Thank you! Rottweilers are the PERFECT dog! I also love love Shepherds and Pitbulls! 👍🤘🤟
Ok that's it. I have decided that every night my family is going to sit down and watch 1 of your videos. The info you give is priceless. Thank u for sharing ur knowledge. Every video u post has something we need to learn. So glad I found ur channel.🌻
My father raised n trained Great Danes for show. Brought home every stray i found growing up. I had GSD male n female n had 2 litters. After they were gone I didn't have another dog for years until I found what I believe is a Basset Terrior mix I found after a blizzard. Now I want a female Rottweiler cuz a friend had 1 I admired. Thank you for this content. I subscribed n hit notification. Much love. Keep up the excellent work bro
Both my Rotties are lovers..they love hugs kisses&lots of affection..the difference is my female is not jealous of her younger brother..but my male Rottie who is 2 years younger is very jealous if he is not getting attention at the same time(LOL) ! :)
I never wanted a female because of the bleeding but i kind of want a dog who is laid back also thinking about the size as well . very interesting. good info
Thank you for making this video, this was exactly what I was looking for ! Earned yourself a new subscriber :) I‘ve always wanted a female Rotti and my mind hasn‘t changed. Greetings from Germany.
Awesome info, I have a 6 month female, and my sister got her brother. Lots of accurate info. I find my girl really driven and is more focused then the male. In the end one male to another can be different but this is good insight.
Your male vs female comparison is spot on, or at least it is with Rotts we have had. Good job, I enjoy your channel. Our present female (Piper) , went thru a lot of depression when we lost our old lab (Spud)…although she has 7 other dogs to plays with daily on our neighborhood of small farms. She is real shy with strange dogs, she is very observant nothing escapes her attention….but she so much wants continuous approval, discipline is seldom needed….and when it is a simple …”Piper No”, and she will spend the whole day making sure she is still loved.
You nailed it! Altho, i dont have a male and wany to get one soon, my girl is very protective over me, my hubby and kids! My girl is independent but wen she wants ur attention, she will let you kno! We havent socialize our dog bcuz we wanted her to kno us only! But as she grew up, she will NOT socialize, unless we socialize, nd guve her the ok to do so! Anyone who wants to touch our dog, we tell them to call her by her name and IF she wags her tail, then its ok! But the big thing is that knowing all this, when our older kids, and grandkids or close family come over (for the 1st time) she immediately senses that they are our family and will love them as if they are us! She treats them like us, i taught this was amazing! Our girl is spoiled, clean, and loving to us...but to outsiders...she is not!!
I think you should re-train your dog to be friendly toward eveyone. Very important. The dog is highly evolved and will still sense if a person has negative intenstons.
You need to teach your dog to look to you for a deciding factor on when to be protective. Your dog needs to be nice to everyone, unless you're not around and they are home alone. They need to look to you for guidance and to decide hey my owner is talking to them, they must be good people. Imma be friendly to them,
This is exactly what I needed to hear, I've read things online and couldn't decide but I value your input a whole lot more, knowing how well trained your dogs are and how experienced you are with rotties. Growing up I was always around dogs, rottweilers/dobermann/pitbulls/labradors/bernese mountain dogs/bordeaux/ridgebacks and of course smaller dogs as well, but as a man I obviously like the bigger dogs a lot better, they are the real lap dogs and they themselves like to think so too. Personally I've only ever had male dogs because I love me a needy buddy to cuddle with any chance I get, however I've also never personally had a rottweiler. Females being smaller and weighing less makes them a much safer bet for a first time rottweiler owner, having a little bit of experience with dogs who had already been trained and actually having one of your own are two much different things, and I much prefer the personal protection over the territory protection which was the last bit of confirmation I needed personally. I will start preparing the house for a new family member and probably start looking for a female pup in a couple of weeks/months, maybe longer. Whatever amount of time I need to get the proper items/toys/beds etc and put it all in place so she'll feel right at home when she gets here. Thanks for all of the info you share on your channel, I will be learning a lot about rottweilers here and how to best handle them and make them feel happy now & the future.
I have 2 Female Rottweiler's .Mother and Daughter and they are very Loving also they believe that they are lap Dog's.(Smiles) Very affectionate with Both my Husband and I. The Mother we got her at 8 month old and now is 6yrs old and her daughter will be turning 4 yrs old soon. I've started taking care of her out of Litter of 10 at 3 weeks old . Due to the mother getting mastitis. I do Love my Rottweiler's!
I recently lost my female plott hound/ pit mix, she was a rescue at 8 months old and she had 60% road rash from being thrown out of a vehicle on the freeway. She was the best dog and protective and smart dog I’ve had and I really want another female with that same temperament, I lost her a few months ago due to cancer and having a lot of seizures at 15 years old. I have a 5 year old male Anatolian shepherd who is amazing with kids and protective but doesn’t have the smarts and instincts that dog (Bailey) had and I’ve been really doing research on a dog that could replace her and this video really helps I think I’ll look into a female rot for sure
I have a female she does everything you said they do , im not sure if she has my back with humans although she does a good job alerting us if something or someone is around, she is the alfa dog in my area and very problematic towards other female dogs and can be unpredictable, I have to keep my eye on her and remind her im watching she get jealous if i give attention to another dogs unless its one of her friends. She is very confident when we are out and prefers to be off the lead and listen to commands , she is extremely intelligent and easy to train for treats , she likes humans and is trustworthy around children and protected our cat as he's part of the family he adored her because of how protective she was towards him . She had been dumped outside my wifes work so we took her home we couldn't of asked for a better dog im blown away by the bread .
Just subscribed to your channel and I have a female Rottweiler named daisy and she is exactly the way you mentioned a female Rottweiler😃she is just over 2 years of age and is pure bred and well trained and is so independent.
My female Rottweiler would guard our inner fence with her life (squirrels beware). I’m pretty confident my son’s 5 pound Yorkie is more likely to attack a threat. Love them both.
Thank you so much for your comments. You are the first Rottie owner who knows what he's talking about and gives really useful comments. We had a male Rottie and "goofy" is the word which really described him (at home with the family). He was well trained and you could take away his food without a growl. He was wonderful with my grandchildren. At first when we moved here, everyone was frightened of him (he weighed 70 kgs and was known as a "maxi burger". With time the neighbours got to know him (it was a time in France when Rotties and Pitties had a very bad press) and still, many years later, people ask me about him. He played "football" with the children. I miss him so. I took in a little abandoned Bichon and I can confirm that a male with a female on heat is hell on earth !!!! Thanks again.
@@Papamarmottin Hi Nicolas, you live in a beautiful region. I've lived in France since 1972, with a one year beak in England. 39 years spent in Paris where my job was and then moved to Noisiel, a small town about 20 kms from Paris and not far from Disneyland (still working in Paris until about 2008). I was missing the countryside ! How long have you been in Britanny ?
@@GrafindeKlevemark Hi Marion. I'm eager to know just how great France was back in the early 70s. My gods, I so wish I'd have known France back in the days. Unfortunately, my parents, consular agents, lived abroad most of their lives. Nonetheless, I spent some time in France from 1974 to much later, visiting my grandparents in Vallauris, sur la Côte d'Azur. My wife and I have lived in Brittany for almost a year now, after 25 odd years in Vendée. After losing two dogs and two cats in a year, it may sound stupid, but it became our primer motivater. Though fighting through COVID and my wife's illness wasn't a blessing, it does seem like it was a good choice after all. How does your "villégiature" near Paris feel ? I suppose it's the best one gets living close to a metropolis that size. Do you still own Rottweilers ? And if so, I'd be glad to get any advice you can give. Have a nice day. Nicolas
@@Papamarmottin Hi Nicolas, many thanks for your message. Do you have a FB Messenger page (or Instagram, although I'm a complete novice at that !!!) ? I feel uncomfortable talking to you on a platform which is totally public, even though these are just friendly chats ?
@@GrafindeKlevemark To put it simply, I don't. As a former IT engineer for quite a few years, I've come to disrespect and fear platforms such as FB. I had an account on the latter I deleted years ago. For professional needs, the people I can help know how to contact me, as do the friends and family I have left. Therefore, I can totally understand your fear of any form of public media, but I can assure you my only objective, Marion, was to participate on random discussions with you on the matter of Rottweilers, and why not, on what France was at the time you got here. Nothing less, nothing more. Therefore, I can always advise you to get a free email address on protonmail (used by the CERN and totally safe) so we can discuss any matter we desire to through email, continue the way we're doing through UA-cam, or just stop altogether. I own a male rottie thats almost 3 years old had him sense he was 8 week old easiest ive ever trained came naturally he very laid back and was all about pleasing me sense 8 weeks old well behaved he picked me And he been the love of my life ever since best thing ever happened to me would nt have it any other way
Your dogs are so good behaved. They are moving teddy bears. I aim to achieve the same with my Sheri, the 5 month old female Rottie. Your dogs give me so much confidence.
I have a female Rottweiler named Heidi and she’s a Lovebug, PS my name is Sheri lol spelled the same way 🤗 HAPPY 🥰 TO SHARE IT WITH YOUR GIRL 🐾🐾 IVE NEVER BEEN PROUDER‼️🐕
Good video man. I just got my first Rottweiler and your videos have been a big help. You seem like you really enjoy what you do and it makes your videos really good. Keep them going, you got a fan here.
Congrats on views & subscribers!! I love all the content 💜 Thank you so much for this video! It definitely gave me a lot more info about the differences between male and female.
I have been with dogs all my life. The first that my folks were thinking of breeding, while I was in grade school, we had her in Pampers during that season. It was cute and head shaking hilarious watching the little yorkie po wobbling around.
My female goes around mounting other females. Once even got behind me in my recliner paws over my shoulders and her hips began to hit me in the back. I freaked tossed her on the floor an told her “ you can’t jump the mom “. It was so wrong. She’s been in heat twice her birthday month starts tomorrow. I’m just glad she doesn’t try to roam when goes in heat or attract males to the property YET. I got a voucher to spay her at 4 mos. have no intention of breeding. But all the vets in the area want 200 over Amt of voucher. Can’t afford that. Now I think she needs a litter so when she wants to rough house she can pick on her own kids instead of me!! She’s so awesome I love her so much!! Thanks Collin an Sam. You guys are great. An can’t forget Kena, Kita and Fluffy. Who make it all possible. Lots of hugs an nelly rubs.
Thanks for this. lost my 5th male Rottie🥹 a few months ago. going to pick out a new pup. Will be getting a female for a change since we now have a 11 month old granddaughter
Thanks for the nice and calm video. I have a male Rottweiler puppy which is 10 weeks old and I was just a little worried after I saw a female Rottweiler puppy video prior to this. She was very calm and relaxed in vet and did not struggle too much. However, my boy is exactly how you described. Very clever and I like this however he needs so much attention and even though he knows what "Don't bite!" means, he can sometimes bite very strongly. My hands and arms are full of bruises and small scars. :D He can sometimes disobey me however is getting better and better as I started training him around 6 weeks old, because he needed to leave his mother very early at 4 weeks.
Excellent session, very valuable for any dog lover let alone a Rotty person. A remarkable difference between the two sexes. Who knew all the details and insights? Good to know every bit of it. Two paws up!
@@TheRottyRanch thank you for that i really appreciate it i also gotta ask , when i take her outside she always start chasing me and bit my ankle and feet , is this normal and how can i contain it. She does get tired but i dont want her to get acustom to doing it ? Any tips
I've been looking to get a Rottweiler now for months since my new job allows me to take my dog to work with me (Oilfield in North Dakota) my family had them all through my childhood, but I can't find a seller near me :/ every one I've found hits me with the "send me money, and I'll send you the pup" I hope I can find a female to join my family soon
My first dog was a female Rottweiler and she was the best dog ever, I grew up with other dogs. My female guarded her territory too. I heard you should get a female for your first Rottweiler and a female will be my next dog too. I like the look of the female head shape better too.
Word my man.Big thanks voor de Insightful and good to follow video, makes me wounder: ' What is your view on where the earth itself originates from'. Rwaugh (bark of an rottweiler puppy phonetically), peace
I got my Rotti-cross when he was under six weeks old, so I think that may be why my experience with him v.s. your boy's reaction to a female in heat was very different. I was Mommy 100%, and I was not to be disappointed, and just like your dogs, no matter what was going on he always had at least half an eye on me, and instantly reacted to my movement/behavior in all situation. I never had him fixed because it's usually healthier for them, my dominance was total - to the point when we were visiting a friend with a female pit bull who seemed to jump right into heat as soon as he arrived, I mean she was literally backing up into him, it was kinda of comical when he looked at me and just put his paw on her back, all I had to do was say "no", and the paw was removed and his face! Now I know the true meaning of "Hang-dog expression" Lol he was almost pouting. but he never responded to any of her advances after that. his "boys" didn't even "Drop" so I kept on having to remind people that NO, he is not fixed when I got his yearly license. once he woke everyone up and saved Grandpa's life (diabetic shock) how could I not leave him there to watch over him? Cujo saved my father's life repeated over the those years. but now He had to become an alpha and his "boys" responded so he looked like a breeding male and even put more barrel weight on ( not including fat he gained from my father insisting on giving him human food) much to my dismay. then some "Karen" got their small town to pass "clean sweep" fixing of any so called dangerous dog breeds - totally pissed that the did not include G. shepherds in that list, since the are far more likely to attack a human than a Rotti is. so my poor baby basically went through puberty when he was an old man and then they cut Everything off. between that and the bad feeding habits of my parents I believe his life was shortened by many years - six months after I'd left him there he looked old and over-weight( he was 130lb.s!) before that everybody thought he was only 3 or 4, not 12 years old because he looked as good as a much younger dog, very healthy - and Cujo was a dog who survived getting Parvo at only three months old. He was the perfect brother for my boys. I consider him my son. he maxed out at 110lb.s before a truck clipped him after a Karen opened my gate, then his body balanced out to the injured leg's muscle mass at 90lb.s I still miss him so much and it'll be eleven years this summer. sorry for rambling yet again, your videos affect my emotions hugely. I needed to let some out, I hope you understand.
Super informative video! A few questions for you: 1. I love Rottweilers but I live in a small apartment. I plan on going on daily walks and run with my pup, but is that enough? Do Rottweilers need a lot of space? 2. I work in healthcare and work 12 hrs shifts 3-4 times a week. Will this be an issue? 3. I know that I will have to have my pup trained - is basic obedience training sufficient enough for a Rottweiler? How young / old would you recommend I get a pup at if I want them to be well-behaved and socialized?
I have an intact male 18 months and looking to get another male Rottie pup. I’m just afraid they’ll compete for dominance once the new dog comes into maturity. If I get a girl I’ll have to worry about babies 🥴at least for the first 2 heat cycles
@@ThePurpleElephantt I recommend no sooner than 18 months up to 2 years. But if you get a puppy by the time he's 6 months old you would be fine. In my opinion. Ive had 2 males and both of them not fixed.
I got my first Rottweiler in 2019. She is 2 now and really the kindest, sweetest dog I have ever met. I've had many other breeds before but I think I am now spoiled for Rottweilers.
we are too!
I got my first one 2019 too... But a male..... The moment you show a male weakness.... It's over
You are talking facts about a male smelling a female in heat. A male around the corner from my house got loose and circled my house for 3 nights.😂😅
Yep that’ll happen 😂😂😂😂
As a kid we had an intact jack Russell would do that, he'd run off and be found hours later stalking a female or sat on someone's front garden who had a bitch indoors he loved all the ladies

Now Uuuuuu is giving "TOP Info" bc I had been contemplating on "male or female ".......Uuuuuuu gave me "all my answers" to my questions.......Thx pal
You betcha Bernie!
Great video thanks for the info really helped!!!
Thanks for all of the info you share on your channel, I will be learning a lot about rottweilers here and how to best handle them and make them feel happy now & the future.
whooo thank you! congrats!
Great information , Love the video ❤💯👵🏽
I have 2 females. My first was always kind of standoffish. But thege other who was a rescue is very needy. They are both ferocious protectors.
Awesome comparison info between male n female Rotties. Kudos for vid. Anticipating ur next one.
I have a male Rottweiler , I’m learning a lot from you , thanks
Thank you!
Just subscribed to your channel and I have a female Rottweiler named daisy and she is exactly the way you mentioned a female Rottweiler😃she is just over 2 years of age and is pure bred and well trained and is so independent.
Awesome! Thank you! Welcome!
We have huge Rottweilers in South Africa. Well everything is big here
i have a female rottweiler puppy and i had one male before rottweiler are just amazing dogs
Agreed!!!
I have both, a male and female
Merci Marion. Where do you live in France ? My wife and I live in Britanny. Love the "maxi burger" anecdote, btw.
Cordialement.
I love rott wellers
I own a male rottie thats almost 3 years old had him sense he was 8 week old easiest ive ever trained came naturally he very laid back and was all about pleasing me sense 8 weeks old well behaved he picked me And he been the love of my life ever since best thing ever happened to me would nt have it any other way
I will say it also depends on the Breed of the Rot between American and German.
I'm a Rotty owner from way bak! Love ur channel Bro and I thank you for the content you are sharing! 😎👍🏻
Aye! Thanks homie!
Your dogs are so good behaved. They are moving teddy bears. I aim to achieve the same with my Sheri, the 5 month old female Rottie. Your dogs give me so much confidence.
❤️❤️❤️
I have a female Rottweiler named Heidi and she’s a Lovebug, PS my name is Sheri lol spelled the same way 🤗 HAPPY 🥰 TO SHARE IT WITH YOUR GIRL 🐾🐾 IVE NEVER BEEN PROUDER‼️🐕
My Male Rottweiler Samuel, is my best friend. Almost like my son in fact.
Very informative video.. I have a male and thinking of getting a female.. Good to know what to expect!!
❤️❤️❤️
Good video man. I just got my first Rottweiler and your videos have been a big help. You seem like you really enjoy what you do and it makes your videos really good. Keep them going, you got a fan here.
Thank you Christian! We are glad to have you ❤️
You are the best channel I could have found to learn more about this breed.
Congrats on views & subscribers!! I love all the content 💜 Thank you so much for this video! It definitely gave me a lot more info about the differences between male and female.
Thanks for sharing! Appreciate the support!
I have been with dogs all my life. The first that my folks were thinking of breeding, while I was in grade school, we had her in Pampers during that season. It was cute and head shaking hilarious watching the little yorkie po wobbling around.
Its sad they both have been victims of back yard breeding but more so the american...thank you for making videos to properly educate people 🙏🏻
My Rottweiler is a pure German male. He weighs in at 165 lb currently and is black and mahogany. He is 3 years old and my best friend.
Will be getting a female for a change since we now have a 11 month old granddaughter
both
Black n tan and eyebrows are choc kisses love 💘
yesss
All True. I agreed on this!
Yes I would love 1
:)
This is pretty accurate
Thank you!
My Rottweiler girlie loves her Dad. My boy looks after the house
make sure to take those three stars around you next time I mean all the time
.....we deserve to watch them all the time !! :D
I will post more often, you can see more on instagram or tik Tok if you would like!
Those little brown spots above their eyes (like where eyebrows would be) are actually called Pumpkin Seeds
This seems pretty well observed
My Rottweilers was the opposite the female was more playful jumpy the male was relaxed and stayed back and watched
Love this channel! 🐾❤️🐾
Female there so loving
Excellent session, very valuable for any dog lover let alone a Rotty person. A remarkable difference between the two sexes. Who knew all the details and insights? Good to know every bit of it. Two paws up!
Thank you for explaining the difference in the two, You described our male perfectly. He is 14 months.
thanks bro ur video seem to be more informotive than other
thanks we have alot for you to enjoy!

🤙
You are awesome thank you for everything I want you every day
❤️
Thank you for this, really helped.
:) glad to hear!
Thank you for the info. I’m really thinking of getting a female for myself.
Subscribed and I don't even have a dog. Great channel !
Welcome! thank you!
Thanks.
Yes!!! Love your channel ! I take like 2 doses a day💜🤗✌️✌️✌️
Thank you!
Today years old finding this video!
Binging your videos right now, awesome channel !
Welcome aboard!
RIGHT ON FACTS
Great work dude! Keep doing!
Very useful👌🏾
My wife and I decided what dog to get ie rotty thank you female for us keep up the good work 👍
Thanks! 😊😊😊😊
Super informative video! A few questions for you:
1. in the middle. Can be either thrive in both.
2. I see a problem, a bored rottweiler is a destructive one.
3. No, takes 24/7 training.
4. 8 weeks
miranda
I have an intact male 18 months and looking to get another male Rottie pup. I’m just afraid they’ll compete for dominance once the new dog comes into maturity. If I get a girl I’ll have to worry about babies 🥴at least for the first 2 heat cycles
Get one of the males or both fixed.
@@TheRottyRanch The recommended age for neuter for the breed is 2 years. They still have to live together til then 🙃
@@ThePurpleElephantt I recommend no sooner than 18 months up to 2 years. But if you get a puppy by the time he's 6 months old you would be fine.
In my opinion.
Ive had 2 males and both of them not fixed.
