My '98 Altima has 195k mi and is still running strong. My extended family now has 4 of this vehicle, years 1998, 2006, 2007, 2011. My next vehicle will probably be another Altima. Can't go wrong with a car that lasts 15 years and 200k miles.
I am seriously considering a 2013 Altima for my first new car ever. I would also like to keep it for the long term. Long term owners like you giving me information like this on the car boost my confidence that I am making the right decision, thanks.
The 4-door Accord never competed in terms of looks in my opinion and in most people's opinions. It's always been like the Camry...it's not ugly, it's not good looking, it just looks like a car. The new Altima front looks like it came off a Lexus, but it's just better looking than most cars at this price range.
The later 2014 and 2015 Altimas are much more reliable and better. I recently drove an 15 Altima S, 15 Honda Accord LX, and a 15 Kia Optima LX. For under 25,000 the Altima gives you everything. The seats are also really comfortable. I didn't like the Accords interior and the Optima didn't have a great ride. If I was to purchase one of these 3 it would defiantly be an Altima.
I test drove one the other day and I'm leaning towards buying one as well. The Accord just didn't do it for me; I love the Sonata's styling and features, but the Altima drives better; the VW Passat felt a bit underpowered.
you´re right. Because this noise engine and CVT issues that people said repeatedly in blogs I got a drive test in order to check this. I am impressive with the smooth ride, and for me, the engine is the same noisy as my Accord 09 and that´s Ok for me. I don´t have complaints with the CVT transmission. My father and my cousin have nissan cars with excelent reliability
This will definitely make it to the Consumer Reports "Best Pick Family Sedan" and probably try to ousell the Camry. The Altima has been selling for over 20 years, and Nissan engineers did their best to redesign it without messing what is on the outside. Of course the lack of a lumbar support is okay for a base level Altima, but higher trims should have it though.
Glad you enjoy your car and I am seriously considering buying an Altima, also, but not the 3.5 since I have been told that the 2.5 will give me enough power and better gas mileage. Was confused about what this guy in this video said about the front seats not being comfortable enough and that the headrests do NOT adjust? Did I misunderstand him? If you have any more comments about your new car, please share them. Thank you! And I think I will get the silver color with beige interior.
Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports magazine accepts no advertising in their publications. In addition, they buy and test those cars just as you and I would. Borrowing cars might be prepped by the manufacturer in such a manner that might give a false sense of accomplishment that would otherwise not be present in regular store bought cars.
The Altima is a definite safe buy, and it does everything well. Sure it isn't innovative compared to the Fusion or Sonata, but given the track record of Nissan (had a 98 Altima 160k kms and 0 trouble) it will probably be very reliable in the long run. How did Nissan get 9.8l/100km in city with a 3.5 V6 questions me though. That's rivaling most new 2.0T engines in the real world.
I hope they fixed that rear sag problem the Altima's have. You put one passenger in the backseat and the car looks like its weighted down. It looks weird going down the road that way.
Nissan make one of the best and smoothest CVTs in the market. I think it should be realiable. Still, i'd take the fusion of the altima (unless MPGs is your priority).
How is cvt? I'm considering this car or 2013 fusion. Is cvt not as reliable compared to automatic transmission? I checked internet and 2008-2009 cvt seems to be pretty bad. How is 2013 cvt?
Nissan Altima CVT transmission is garbage. Had to replace mine at 70,000 miles. These cars are not reliable. So many people have been saying that these cars with CVT transmissions are constantly needing to be replaced.
Did you take care of your car by changing the CVT fluid at the recommended interval? People complain about certain cars being unreliable while failing to keep up the proper maintenance.
Im sorry but I couldnt live with the drone from that CVT. Plus, there expensive to repair. id stick with the new Malibu or 2013 Fusion which are both a LOT better looking than the new Altima and Camry. This car also doesnt accelerate from 0-60 in 7.1 seconds. More like 7.7 which is a little quick for a 4 banger but again, theres that nasty CVT noise.
It's a first drive, not a full review. He hits the salient points. How is it a jab to say that the 3.5L V6 gets comparable fuel economy to the current crop of turbo fours?
seems like u received a lemon from nissan. it happens. my grandma and uncle got the EXACT same car and his went to shit and hers which is now mine is still running like a champ. depends on the car. my moms 06 altima is staying strong. check engine light and computer are tripping a bit due to the wrong type of gas being used for so many years but the engine itself is flawless
Bought 2013 SV, 4 cyl. in August. 7800 miles now. Problems: groove in seat material quickly fixed during first dealer visit along with Nissan recall to reprogram the CVT. Averaging 32 mpg on regular gas by calculation. Computer readout 1.3 mpg, 4%, higher. Mainly suburban driving with many stop signs. Fast, economical, agile. 0-60 in 7.1 seconds without complexity like turbos or stop-start. Nissan options structured so you get what you want without expensive option packages you don't.
It looks too much like a Maxima? I thought Nissan werent going to make the same mistake again, because in the past, a lot of people confused the Maxima with the Altima. It looks like it happened again.
no, the G37 is the same as a 370Z, that had to be cleared up. and to JP JP, try not flooring it all the time and get out of the city. this car was built for higher speed highway travel. get comfortable and set the cruise at 70mph, you should have no trouble getting 30+mpg, and are you sure you have the 2.5, sounds like you might have 3.5 with that mileage. my dad gets 23mpg driving a 4cyl camry with his lead foot, i get 34mpg. you should try a prius, maybe you'll get that mileage you want.
Sure, I can help your OUT. if ur at a Nissan dealership, find the nearest exit and go buy a toyota or a Lexus. The Altima is an unreliable headache thanks to Renault and Carlos Ghson.
@@Mabeylater293 you don't know what you are talking about. Altima is one of the most comfortable, best handling, most efficient and extremely reliable as long as it is properly maintained.

I'll take the Accord any day, interior quality and ride is excellent. The altima is a good product, but lacks of interior quality and the restyling is a little disappointing for me, some may find this car good looking, its a very subjective matter.
Accord does have better quality materials. The Altima, however, bests the Accord in front seat comfort, front legroom and style. Backseat legroom is better in the Accord as is resale value. I would rather ride in the Altima on a long road trip over the Accord.
Problem is this Altima is so conservative mechanically it's almost lethargic. I'm sure it'll run like clockwork (even better than the even more mundane Camry), but not sure if it'll match the Accord in tech & driver involvement.
