I love my 15 Nissan Altima 2.5s, got it brand new, got 170+k miles, running beautifully, transmission and engine both strong. Changed CVT fluid change every 50k, engine oil every 5k, spark plugs 80k. Never taken it to any mechanic or dealership. All maintenance done by me (im not a mechanic) just followed UA-cam
thanks for watching glad we are both happy with our vehicles!
As a Nissan technician and owner, Nissan's are pretty solid vehicles. Even the cars that come in the shop and are beat on, are still running strong. From my experience most owners do not bother changing the cvt fluid regularly and then complain that they have tranny problems. I always recommend Nissan's to friends and family of mine. A lot of them have them with no issues. I personally don't understand the hype of some other brands that people love, but to each thier own. Great video as always!
Hey Kirk, appreciate the comment I bought a 2023 Sentra SR midnight this week. Really liked the car but have a scared feeling from all these people online about the CVT in it. When would you recommend changing fluids on the transmission roughly? I plan to take great care of the car so it can hopefully last 10+ years. Its been unclear on when you should flush and refill tranny fluids on the car, any advice is appreciated thanks Kirk.
thanks for commenting my friend great insight from some knowledgeable about both end of the vehicle
@Kole Semeniuk Congrats on the new car. I always recommend changing the fluid every 30k. I have never seen a cvt go bad in the current generation Sentra and we also see a lot of rental cars coming in at work with no problems unless caused by the people renting them. My family has new and old Nissan's with no cvt issues. Most people see Nissan and automatically condem the cvts, not knowing anything about them.
Hi Kirk, some mechanics have said that the CVT transmission can get wonky IF you change the CVT fluid. Is this true?? I've never had to change the trans fluid with my other non-cvt cars??? I have a 2009 Altima with 60,000 miles and I haven't changed the CVT fluid ever, car is still running smoothly. What do you suggest? Should I change CVT fluid?? I do regular oil changes and tire and brake maintenance. What do you think???
@@lanaofficiel4042 what non-CVT cars have you had? Any car I’ve had, I’ve always been recommended to drain and refill the transmission fluid. Regardless of the “lifetime fluid” companies advertise in their car
My 4th gen Altima is at 160,000 is going strong. Bought it with 20k and it's been one of the most reliable vehicles I've owned. Been doing 30k CVT fluid changed since I got it.
thats glad to hear I new I wasnt the only one
any tips? im buying a 140 000 km from the owner of the car and im pretty nervous
i m buying the same thing a 2013 nissan altima
@@mustafemohamed5951 I wouldn't buy one used without a service history. The transmission needs routine fluid maintenance. I'm at 165,000 miles now and still no issues.
This is very heartening to know as I have a new Nissan with a CVT. I had a Honda Civic 2010 with only 67,000 miles on it. I planned to drive it several years more, but my catastrophic event was someone drove into my car and totaled it.
ouchhhh did someone steal your car?
Very helpful and informative since all the negative comments on the cvt....kudos for maintaining it well.. your car still looks very sharp..
Much appreciated!
2019 Altima 2.5 SL here, 37k miles. No issues. Car was always a So Cal car and servied at Nissan. Just did a brake job for around $650 which I felt was reasonable for all 4. Car is simple and reasonable to maintain. I did a CVT flush at 30k miles for peace of mind. I don't LOVE the feeling of the CVT but the motor and drivetrain feel bullet proof in terms of reliability. People need to keep in mind that Nissan was very smart in designing their drivetrain for low RPM functionality. It has torque down low compared to the other Japanese brands. Peak torque is 3500 RPM, the car rarely even sees 3000 RPM in daily driving. On highway I'm doing 80mph at 2000 RPM.
glad you are enjoying your altima
Legit. Got the 2014 S. 276k miles so far. So reliable. All original. Microphone stopped working at 250k miles. Could be the head unit or the mic. Not sure but i don't care about it that much. Bought it in 2016 for $5,500. Wish i could get a car that's 2 years old for 6k. Miss the days when cars were affordable.
wow thats more then double mine. glad its treating you well
@Cars Unlocked Traded it in last week for a 2023 acura integra MT. We pick the car, they pick us back as if to say together forever. They'll joy ride with us on our good days, and cheer us up on our bad days. First dates, weddings, road trips, birth of my first child. The Altima was with me through it all.
This was a great video Christopher. I've been driving Nissans since 1986, except for a 3 year period with a 1995 Suzuki Swift. The only problem I ever had was with my 2006 Altima that had the crank case sensor go out on me on while on the highway. It still ran and drove Ok to get to the dealer to have it repaired after work. The key is to change the fluids regularly, for the wear and tear components that rely on them.
yes thats key still to your maintenance plan and you good to go
@@carsunlocked 😊
I have a 2014 Altima SV 4cyl with CVT we bought in August of 2013. We drive it a lot; city and highway. It has 160K miles but we service it regularly; we take care of it. Still driving on the original transmission. It has been a great car overall. Great fuel economy. Big back seat. We love it. Had to replace headlight lenses. Had a suspension component break in the rear. Nissan put out service bulletins and paid for each of these repairs after-the-fact. Maybe we were lucky on CVT. We bought another 2014 Altima S used four years later. It still has original CVT, also. We like our Nissan Altimas.
thanks awesome super happy we had the same experience
My brother owns a 15 Altima SL I love that car and looks exactly like yours, he hasn't had any problem thank god with it and he doesn't take care of it as much lol so I'm happy it's a reliable car especially how good on gas it is!!! I own a 06 Sentra with 75K miles and I feel like maintenance is KEY to a reliable car and I been doing so because it takes me a-z any day of the week, Im currently trying to get into a 2018 Altima 3.5 SL. I really liked this video and your thoughts of owning a vehicle for 10 years!!!
hey thanks for commenting thats awesome that you still have an 06 sentra. Glad you enjoyed the conent
What mpg is getting for 2015 altima
Congrats man the 5th gen is a pretty solid reliable vehicle. My 16’ had 116k miles and never gave me any issues besides (oil consumption) which was a bad pcv valve $30 at Nissan. Traded it though for a 22’ Rogue back a year ago next month. I recommend Cvt fluid services at least every 60k miles for best reliability! To access your blower motor isn’t hard either i think there’s a video somewhere on UA-cam.
thanks so much ill check it out
Nice i plan on getting a 2023 sl.. you use premium? Does it make a difference
@@Sir_X3M altimas need premium now?! And not even a super/turbo charger?!
I have a 2013 Nissan Altima S with 176000 miles with zero issues. Everything with my car is great. I take long trips with it and no issues.
glad you are happy with your vehicle !
Your giving me hope that my 2017 Altima S will also run over 176 rn mine is at 164 no problems tho then just tiny fixes
I also have a 2013 Altima did you change the CVT fluid on yours?
@@salimdatoo1793, yes, after 6 years of ownership.
Got my new Altima SR 2024 on the 12th, first car and it's been a dream man hoping my car lives as long as yours, the "fat ass" part had be dying btw lol
thanks for watching! congrats on your new car
Nissan CVT has improved so much. I’m happy for Nissan. I’m glad you did this video. I bet those trolls are the idiots from Hyundai who are jealous that they can’t make a much simpler dual clutch!
thanks for watching glad you enjoyed my video
Thanks so much for posting this. Have you changed the CVT fluid/or clean CVT filters, etc., during these 9 years?
yes its been changed at the recommended intervals
After my old Honda Civic finally died, I got a 2016 Sentra SV about six months back. It's been great- its comfortable, affordable, has decent tech and gets great fuel economy. Right now it has 82,000 miles and the CVT is pretty good. It has occasional hiccups but for the most part it's pretty smooth and somewhat peppy when you cut it in sport mode. Say what you will about Nissan reliability, I have the car now so I might as well just take care of it and hopefully I'll still be driving it when it hits 10 years old. My only regret is I got a blue one when I wanted white.
thanks for watching keep us posted on how you make out with your altima
133k on my 2016 Altima SR I bought new, and I never had CVT issues. They only things I replaced were tires, brakes, spark plugs, battery, and faulty O2 sensor. Never had major mechanical issues. I have 8 years of service paperwork stashed in a folder I keep in the glove box. The CVT UA-cam and online neanderthal haters are going to hate no matter what.
thanks for watching I have certainly come to terms with that
We have a 2013 Altima and so far, at 110k, it is holding up great! My mom is getting at 2023 Rogue and I am getting the Altima and cannot wait to drive it.
thanks for watching glad you are happy with your altima
Have a 2013 Murano the SUV version of this - just passed 200k miles, I simply give it regular maintenance and it’s fine. It’s needed nothing more than wear and tear item replacements , brakes, suspension parts, tires, battery, but it’s been a great car and has never let me down.
thats great the muranos do last a long time
I got a 2015 altima special edition, 0 issues so far and owned it a year and 3 months. It has 144,000 now and drives like it has 67k miles. Love it. Reliable and looks good
thanks for watching glad we are sharing the same experience
I bought a 2009 sl altma in 2017 with 97.000 on it around 160.000 the cvt went out for my under warranty I am still driving this beauty with 420.000 still going strong beside wear and tear been a good I have had many Nissan over year's with many miles on them I not stand behind my Nissan I sit in them too lol Love your web page
I have a 2015 Versa, 75,000 miles. Still runs the same as it always has when I bought it 5 years ago. Changed the CVT fluid at 57k when I found out about how vital that is. Other than that, it’s been good basic transportation.
thats great so happy you are enjoying your versa
2016 Altima SL here. 5 years and just hit 100k. No major issues. Great car. Take care of your cars and get it serviced regularly. Are some models more prone to issues? Of course. But how you drive and how you maintain is everything.
A friend had a 2016 SR as well. He was on his THIRD transmission 😂 he also beat the hell out of that car. Treated it like a muscle car instead of a 4 cylinder daily comfort drive.
thanks for the insight it certainly comes down to how you maintain it
I have a 2015 nisan altima S. 2.5 4cyl. Not a single problem. Low mileage 29,300. So far a good car.
great to hear!
This was my favorite Altima and considered it as an upgrade to my then 2008 Pontiac G6. Still see many of that generation on the road.
thanks i dont really have any complaints about the old girl
3:50 had me in tears 😂😂🤣
thanks for watching
I have an altima 2013 3.5 202 000 km. I do regular maintenance myself. I have changed the cvt fluid twice now with original Ns3. So far no problems with it. This is a partial flush since I changed only what's in the oil pan. About 4.5 liters. Really like that car, it is reliable, even in the Canadian winters.
those engines are real good engines because they are bullet proof
HI this is a positive review, iam a great Fan of Nissan and i drive a Nissan Altima 2009. 2.5L SL . I have driven my car for 1 year now is time for a CVT NS-2 fluid change ? can i do it yearly or Monthly? please advise. iam not good with the miles thing as it confuses me.
Hey my friend I would follow the recommended maintenance plan Nissan offers
I love Nissans my family has owned a bunch since the 00s with my aunt having a 2000 Altima that she bought new and kept it until 2010 and my uncle had an 2007 Altima he had from 2008 thru 2020 and my mom had a 2008 Maxima that she had from 2012 until 2018 and I have a 2019 Sentra that I’ve had from 2020 and it still runs like new no problems whatsoever with any of these u have to take care of these cars and they will take care of you
thanks for the insight. Glad you like the nissan brand!
There’s a Nissan Altima 2014 around my price range for sale used on Facebook marketplace place. I just need it for an A&B car like you! What are some things that I should ask or check for when looking for a car like this? I know it’s recommended to get a trusted mechanic to look at it but what else? Thank you so much for this informative video.
heres some tips for you in this video ua-cam.com/video/91E90tmoylw/v-deo.html
I have a 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5 and still driving it everyday. Almost 300,000kms. Just maintained regular oil change. My dash board looks like Christmas tree lights with service engine soon, tire light etc. appreciate and love my Altima lol
wow so cool glad you are enjoying your car
I got a 2018 Nissan Altima SL. The greatest car I have ever driven. I travel a lot and moved a lot. It is now 2024, and I am at 98k miles. I service my car every time the dealership or my local mechanic advice me. I have changed out my tires to some pretty expensive all weather tires but kept my original alloy rims but that was due to drive in all types of weather. In the desert where it gets 120 degrees and in states where it gets to -20 degrees. I have never had any major mechanical issues with the car. The 2 negative thing I can say about the car is that on days where I have to rush to work and the car doesn't get warmed up properly in the cold, you can press on the acceleration and the car doesn't want to push itself. As for the second, in extreme heat, something happens to the connectivity to the bose speaker on the middle of the dash that causes it a static noise. Other than that, it has taken me across the United States twice over and there were weeks where I would drive 5 hours to go back home for a weekend just to leave and drive 5 hours back to work 2 days later.
thanks for watching when its really cold my car is a bit sluggish as well
Nissan owner here!05-07. They are solid, pretty reliable..
thanks for watching
I had a 2020 Altima and it was super reliable! But i decided to upgrade to get everything i wanted in a car I’m much happier!
awesome thanks for watching
I just bought my mother's 2007 Nissan Altima, 126,000 miles and she maintained it by the book at the dealer. Original transmission, no issues. Replaced the battery twice and just put on new shocks and struts. Oddest thing though, the oil pan rusted through and had an oil leak, am in Minnesota with lots of salt on the road. Only wear items replaced, tires, etc. It's her second one, the first was a 2000 that saved her life in an accident. Sister had a 2005 and another sister a 1994. I'll keep this a few more years and then buy another, maybe a 2017 or 18 I really like how they look. Best car out there, oh and I happen to think the 2007 - 9 is the best looking Altima they made.
thanks for watching glad you are enjoying your altima
I got my Nissan Altima 2014 going on ten years it’s starting to act up my A/C went out this summer and my transmission seems to start acting up but I have never change the transmission fluid 135k miles but it’s true how you maintain ur car so far it’s still taking me around considering a new Altima any recommendations on changing the transmission fluid I’m scared of doing it will it give me any problems after the change ??? Thanks
i just get it done at the dealer
Had a 2016 Versa Note for over 6 years, over 60,000 miles, and only did basic maintenance and it was running great when I let it go.
thanks the Versa notes are great cars
I owned a 2013 Nissan Altima, same color but just the base 2.5 S trim. With mine, I kept up on oil changes, I did not do the transmission flush though. I only put about 6,000 miles on it over 9 months before I bought a new car. I hit a pole that bent and cracked my steering rods. However, I got that fixed and it was a good car. Towards the end, it started making a really high-pitched metallic noise.
thanks for watching
I have a 2017 Altima with 215,000 miles...mostly highway driven. The only thing I have changed was the battery, brakes, and tires. I do the CVT fluid service myself every 25-30K with Nissan NS3 fluid. I try to keep my accelerator pedal below the 50% point so the transmission wont go into the "D step shifting" as I prefer the smooth acceleration curve. Ohh...at about 200k miles the check engine light came on...I diagnosed it as a dirty catalytic. Threw some Cataclean in the tank and the problem resolved itself....easiest fix ever.
wow great insight thanks so much for watching!
I have one and it is great no issues at all!
thanks for watching
I almost got this to replace my aging 2009 Lexus IS250, but decided to keep my Lexus IS250 because that car only has 134k miles as of now in 2024 with plenty of life left. I recommended the Altima I would have gotten to my girlfriend and she ended up getting it. She likes it, and she takes care of it too.
thanks for watching
I have a 2015 3.5SL altima. Got it from car max and got a max care warranty. started at 6x,xxx and now at 88,xxx miles. I do all my own maintenance and repairs short of the trans, which I get flushed (none of that 'drain and fill' bull sh!+) from the only nissan dealer in the dc tri state area that does it. My ex 2014 2.5s altima had 0 problems under the same maintenance I did and trans flushes.
I many people have complained about the transmission more than anything, however I don't see how they drive. I drive barefoot/socks, and basically hyper mile the whole time. I don't drive it like a stick shift or like a 392/hellcat challenger!
thanks for watching!
I have a 2011 2.5 SL Altima, with almost 150k km, changed the cvt fluid at about 90k at the dealer, as I felt it was slipping a little bit, have had no issues with the cvt since then. Have owned the car since 2015. Bought it with about 53k on the odometer. Besides regular maintenance, its been a great vehicle, although it does eat the brakes more than I'd like. Overall best vehicle I've owned!!
thats great to hear glad you are happy with your altima!
The short answer is maintenance and don't beat the crap out of em! I've owned 5 Nissan CVT's already (2012 Rogue, '14 Versa, '18 Versa, 17 Path, '13 Sentra). No issues and the cars were pushing 100k (miles not km). I do the fluid changes myself using a scan tool and genuine Nissan NS-2 or NS-3 depending on the CVT about every 25-30k plus CVT filters (there's two of them). My '13 Sentra SR currently has 122k on original CVT...so far so good. No rust on any of the cars... my only complaint was that the '12 Rogue seemed to have oil consumption around 75k about 1 quart between oil changes (3000 mile oil changes). I want to see how far my '13 goes before the CVT goes out....when it does I'll put another tranny in it. My parents love their Toyota's buy boy they are $$$ and you still have to take care of their CVT's too.
Thanks for the info.
wow thanks for the insight about the maintenance great info from someone mechanically incline
Looks good. Ive got 16 sentra holding up just fine
thats awesome cant complain about that
@Cars Unlocked my next nissan I want to have ceramic coated. My chrome spoiler also has rust bubbling.
I have a 2013 Nissan altima sl and it's still going strong in 2024...bought new. It now has 139,000 on it. It's taken care of and drove right.
You and i are the same!!!
My wife has a 10 years old Altima. She loves it. No issue so far.
thats great to hear!
Mother in law bought a used 2010 maxima in 2014. The CVT transmission just gave out a couple weeks ago at 420,000 kms with no service done to the tranny ever. Regular oil changes, breaks and tires. I noticed that the wheel alignment seemed to go out often and prematurely wear the tires.
As a side note I have a 2015 Ram 1500 with 577,000 kms and wheel alignment has never been out even though I take it through rough off road places.
thanks for watching you certainly got your moneys worth on both cars
My 2018 Nissan Altima cvt lasted 200,000 miles but I’ve put two remanufactured CVT’s in in the last four months
Ouch
Do you think a Maxima CVT is reliable? Thinking about getting one but not high in mileage somewhere like 20-30k in mileage
yes it certainly is
2023 will be the last production year of the Maxima.
I'm getting ready to purchase a 2014 Nissan Altima 3.5 SV from a relative and am starting to have some concerns about the CVT transmission and the re-calls. What can you tell me about the 3.5 SV??? Thanks...
for reliability the 3.5 is the better option in theory a V6 will last longer than a 4 cyclinder
@carsunlocked well shoot, just found out it's a 2.5 SV, not a 3.5 SV. He has taken it in for the hood latch and passenger side air bag recalls. And he said they had him bring it in to re-program the transmission. It has 85,000 miles on it, mostly interstate. And he's had no issues with it so far. Oh mostly garage kept too.
My 2016 altima trans went out at 75k miles. Not sure if it was maintained or not. Just bought it and it went out 😅
wow thats unfortunate hopefully you had a warranty
Is it easy to handle and will this be good for a new driver?
yes this is a very easy car to drive
250km on my 2014 altima base so far no cvt issues.
incredible i hope to get there

transmission life on these vehicles is to keep the rpms under 3k and to service the transmission regularly by (the dealer)! Also, do not gun these trans. Just My Opinion!
wow thats a lot of miles
I'm currently looking to buy a new car I've had my 2013 Yaris since 8-10 years, I just did regular maintenance and it served me great without changing any transmission fluids, so I was looking for a Nissan Altima 2023 SV but the CVT is my biggest fear, so the alternative of Altima is 2024 Mazda 6 it has an automatic transmission. idk which one to get now they both are very good reliable Japanese cars but one with a CVT and the other Automatic. What’s the mileage u getting in gallon
I have a black 2016 Altima SV that has had TWO CVT replacements, one at 26k and again at 67k (which means this 2nd CVT only had 47k miles). YOU have just been lucky. You can't blame every cvt failure on negligent owners that's ridiculous. Ppl can be negligent, but Transmissions should never be failing at 20K miles. Where there's smoke, there's fire. I have every maintenance document that i had done by the dealership on time some ahead of schedule. everything from tire rotation, oil change to CVT fluid other major maintenance. Buying a Nissan from 2008 to 2020 you're rolling the dice.
interesting did they give you a new transmission with the warranty ?
@@carsunlocked the 1st CVT was covered under warranty. I had to fight the dealership to cover the 2nd CVT because it was past warranty. Luckily one of the conditions (and the selling point for me knowing the reputation of Nissan CVT's) was the dealership agreeing to lifetime powertrain warranty. They tried every way not to honor it, but ultimately did when they realized I had them do all maintenance.
Im too familiar with this whole Nissan CVT issue, several of my immediate and extended family are/were employed at the Smyrna, TN plant in positions from line techs up to VP of Manufacturing during Carlos Ghosn cost cutting offering buyouts to employees to move to a primarily temp agency work force. Nissan and the supplier that builds the CVTs have since diagnosed and improved the reliability for the most part. But starting from 2004 Muranos ~ 2019/20 all models, it was a known issue by Nissan in early 2009. The way one exec explained to me, during those years you had a 50/50 shot of getting a faulty transmission and you would know by around 55k miles if not sooner. If you made it past that point, chances are you've got one that will run forever.
I had a 1994 Nissan Sentra a number of years ago great little 2 door car. Bought it from a dealer in the 1990s had low miles. Lasted me a long time. Rusting out issues but i didnt care. Then the heater began to give me problems. Never had an issue with the motor nor transmission 😅👍. Drove like a top. Had actually one crash with it not my fault insurance fixed everything and i still kept it aft that. Then with over 100k decided to sell it to my brother for 500 bucks because i was buying a 2012 Corolla to which i am still driving right now. It currently has 180k miles and keeps on going. I have had quite a few little leaks here and there with me always fixing it right away. Another oil leak right now and i am looking at an 2022 altima 2.5 S model and above with under 40k only because they are cheaper in price than another Toyota. The day of a 15 thousand dollar used Toyota from a dealer is Gone.
PS i have been purchasing mostly all my cars from Hertz, Enterprise or Avis rental car sales. I like their no haggle prices
thanks for watching
My cousin had one of these and I loved it. The sound of the CVT while accelerating (full throttle) always had me dying idk why 😂
Plus when you'd hit the window switch the car would start vibrating.
Also the CVT never had any major issues, only thing was when you'd be at a stop and you had your hand on the shifter, you could change gears without engaging the button.
Unfortunately he ended up totaling it. Only had 192K (Miles). She was a beast tho.
thanks for watching
My 2011 is at 135,000 and has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. No rust yet, but I live in BC where roads are salted maybe 3 days each year.
thats lovely shoot to you in BC
About the headlamp fade become yellowish, it's common on older car. What I did was I did clear coat spray on it at a headlamp restoration specialist. Now its like brand new ,crystal clear. They use Aikka brand clear coat .
About servicing car ,yeah it's best to send to nissan service centre which I still do for my 11 years old car and it works fine n well. No doubt the cost is abit expensive than the usual car service centre, I'm fine with it as I know I'm getting original parts and reliable service
yea im going to get that done soon
Bought my 2017 salvaged , came with 17K miles sitting at 65K , it’s been a great car considering I have a heavy foot and treat the car as if it was a race car . I’ve kept up with all of the maintenance at a local shop and even though I’ve been told to tell it , I wouldn’t be surprised if it last me another 5 years or more .
thats awesome certainly have gotten your moneys work
Thanks ... my very, very well cared for 2014 was great since purchased new (only one problem ... outside mirror control died) until 100K ... then a bunch of items went south at about the same time - transmission, wheel bearings, other. Still, was a good car.
Damnnn im starting to have some minor issues now BSW warning malfunction
Bought my 2013 with 20,000 miles and used it to Uber with. It now has 300,000 miles and still ubering and daily use. Oil tires and brakes. Hoping to hit 500,000
alright man thats awesome!
My father-in-law has a 2017 Nissan Sentra, today he passed 190 thousand km and I never know all the mechanical part, I only change the cover, services, lights, those things, Nissan engines are the same or more durable than those of Honda or Toyota, I saw several comments from people criticizing the Nissan cvt box, but according to consumer reports about 3k users reported problems with the cvt maybe they don't know how to use it, I don't know, but I do know that millions across the planet bought Nissan CVT vehicles and 0 problems
yes i agree with you its hard to tell who the outliers are
i have an 2.5L 08 altima that i bought it new from the dealer with 360K kilometers on it with no major fixes other than maintenance, it still drives very smoothly to this day and ngl i abuse the hell out of it i redline it almost everyday ( you know altima energy ), the thing is i service it very often with the engine oil every 10k and the transmission every 40k-50K. it's all about maintenance from what i experienced.
thanks for watching
Here is 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL. 380,000Km. No transmission issues! Oil change every 8,000Km. Transmission Oil every 50,000. Coolant charge every 5y. Still going strong as day 1, AC and all the electronics inside is WORKING! Never rev the engine and never going more than 2,500RPM.
I love my Altima and I think is better maid than my wife 2016 Honda CRV Tuoring.
thanks for watching glad you are happy with your altima. Have you raced the honda yet?
@@carsunlocked The Honda is driven by my wife and she is much more harsh to her car 😄.
@@carsunlocked The biggest mistake for "trouble Altima transmission" was from the Nissan dilership all of them (15 years ago) thay say: sealed unit, lifetime transmission fluid! After the warranty period I started to change transmission fluid on my own and that is I think the ONLY thing that this car is still driving.
I'm very carefull with my '16 Teana, now it has reach 75.000km, hopefully can last for another 75.000km. Since last month the front suspension starts to knock, hope its not a serious damage.
ohhh boy you should get it looked at
I went on Ebay and bought after market accessories to make my US built 2016 Altima look like a Teana. I love the look of your car
My 2013 SL 3.5 has 554k mileage. Had a great experience 3rd transmission always maintained this car , bought it with 8 miles from dealer in Nashville TN area.
Nissan replaced first transmission at 5k.
wow interesting
Damn!!! My 2013 3.5sl has 55k😭
I have a 2014 Altima. Out of nowhere, my dashboard is illuminating the message "NO WARNINGS." Anyone know why?
is your trunk open?
I have had mine since 2013 and I have always hated the CVT especially in cold weather and going up and down even the smallest of inclines. When cold , it does not upshift until it warms up. I could be doing 50mph and the RPMs are 3000 plus. On inclines it constantly changes the RPMs up. It kills the gas mileage and it's a lot of wear and tear on engine and trans not to mention how annoying it is.
but you have had yours for ten years Id say you got your money worth
My moms 2013 Nissan Altima CVT failed at 51K miles (after the warranty expired) despite changing the fluid at 30K miles. Nissan paid almost all of the cost for a new one other than US$1200. Since than its been very good but the sun is beating the clear coat on the aluminium roof. No big deal. I'm not so sure about the seats though. Its fine in short distances but going 300 miles, my butt aches. Just take a break halfway
thanks so much for commenting glad she is happy with the altima
Did you change the cvt fluid??
yes of course
@@carsunlocked how many miles did you do it at every time?
Not so many people have been as fortunate with their cvt transmissions and to have massive recalls and numerous settled class action lemon law suits is more than enough evidence to avoid.
I 'm going on 280k and after 100k started doing it big rig flush style every 20k (I would have started earlier but I didn't think i would own it after 100k). I dropped the cvt pan at 200k to replace all the filters and was pleased to see next to no metal shavings. ( A sign of immanent failure). Outside of the CVT it is one of the best cars on the road IMO, especially for road trips, and I say this as a mechanic and past Nissan salesman. However, if I had known about the CVT I would have bought a Camry and continue recommend them over the Altimas.
The blower motor is behind and above the glovebox and is very easy to remove and replace (when that time comes) just make sure not to remove or disturb any of the odd little metal clips they are weights to balance it. Couple Phillips screws and a flashlight. There are videos on youtube. They say 20 min but more like 60 if you havent done it befoere as you really need to be under it to make sure you align the screws in the right holes. Again super easy DIY task.
The seats only get worse fat ass or no fat ass. I am 300lbs my wife 100. My seat is shot, her's is on her way, maybe in a year. We use a $15 pleather cover that matches the leather. They tend to wear out fast but with the $30 wooden beads on top (i never thought I would ever try them but they are great) and modified by using an old charging cord to secure them to the seat they are great for the money and the heat still comes through. Both off amazon.
sorry you did not have the same experience I did
My transmission just went out on my 2014 Altima at the 10 year mark. 217k miles
i guess thats not to bad but unfortunate
What car did you replace it with
I have a 2015 altima with 315000km bought in 2014 my 10 year is coming up in like another 6 months my cvt blew at 79000km luckily for me it was under warranty
Just change the transmission fluid every 50000km
damnnn well at least yours went before the warranty was up
The year the Altima was highly improved. I drove a 13 for 6 months. My brother has a 2015🥰 im a Maxima girl now & i love my 2019 SL ❤ She's going nowhere
thanks for watching! maximas are so fun to drive
I have a 2014 nissan altima 2014 s the only thing i have change is the valve cover gasket and the ac compressor. Other than that the car drives great i did the cvt transmission oil change at 60 thousand miles now in it just hit 69 thousand miles with no problems and i have 20 inch rims. Any and every car can give a problem if ypu dont take care of them. Especially a transmission some people dont come to complete stop they just shift the transmission to another gear . Some people dont service their cars. So when it breaks down they complain
i agree it certainly is all about how you maintain it
hi my name is Geronimo and I live in Colorado I have a 2015 Altima S with over 133000 miles on it and I'm the original owner since june of 2014 and I haven't had any real issue with my car and i also keep up with the maintenance oil change, tire change, breaks, transmission fluid change and so on. since i have driven my car 2-3 times to new york city where i'm from and 4 times to defaince Ohio and i drive it to work every day over 26 miles to work other then my front windshield damaged from highway rock hitting it the only complint i have is my headlights are too dimm it makes it hard for me to drive at night i'm going to buy two new headlight bizels since Nissan haven't help me on the class lawsuite case with replacing the problem due to safety issue but i'm happy with my car before this car i had a 2005 Altima S that i bought back in new york and i also had no issue with it i drove that car to work and to defince Ohio a few times washington DC and drove that car all the way down to Colorado before trading it for the corent Altima i have now i love this car and i will be holding it for as long as i can. thanks
hey thanks for watching glad you like your altima
My wife's car is a 2015 Altima and she loves the ride, comfort etc. I'll admit it's a smooth highway cruiser. I've heard both sides of the CVT transmission. My experience so far has been good but I'll admit I took the Car Wizards advice. Drain and fill (son't flush) more often because the "lifetime" is the warranty and they want it to fail just after the warranty. His advice every 30,000 to 40,000 miles drain and fill etc. Over the span of 200,000 miles it's still less than a new tranny and yes he has seen serviced ones last that long. Me I miss my old school simple mechanical 87 Nissan 4x4.
thanks for the insight her1! happy wife happy life
those zero gravity seats are so so damn comfy man
250,000 miles on my 2015 altima drive for uber every day never had to replace anything
wow wow can see how this would be a good uber car
Bought my car also new off the showroom. Rust is never an issue today with modern cars today. So no rust on the body after 10 years means absolutely nothing. You talk about doing regular maintenance but you never mention how often you replaced the transmission fluid if ever?. I replaced mine after 30000 miles on my 2016 Altima SR and paid 300.00 for the service and my CVT still went at 60,000 miles under warranty. My rear shock suspension was replaced at only 40000 with all city driving. I plan to see if it qualifies for reimbursement under one of their possible service alerts on rear suspension bars which is a TSA on file with Nissan dealerships nationwide. My car is only at 64000 miles and overall I've been actually pleased with the car. No ongoing electrical problems like I had with my 2004 Mazda 6 and the rubber and trim inside and out on the Altima is holding up nicely. My advice to all is to check on all class action lawsuit claims including the ones already settled as you may still be able to get service or reimbursement in some cases. To protect your CVT the best advice I've received from master techs is to drive this car like your grand mother. Don't do quick accelerations especially when the engine is cold. Just do a drain and fill when you change your transmission. Transmission flushes can be also part of the problem with the CVTs. I appreciate your video but more detail on your car maintenance like coolant changes etc... is necessary to get a lot more worth worth out of it.
thanks dude appreciate the reply feedback it seem like you are more mechanically incline then I am therefore its hard for me to speak and on those items you mentioned remember when they were done. I simply go to the Nissan dealer and follow their recommended maintenance schedule
Most of those complaining about CVT's blowing up don't even know what transmission fluid is.
I get that that some of those major maintenance milestones can get pricey, but the money you think you're saving by skipping on certain services could end up costing you more.
thanks for commenting your not wrong my friend
@@carsunlocked Actually most subscribers have maintained their fluids regularly and they're mostly the ones you hear complaining. Just something to think about.
I'm a very big fan of Nissan.
thanks for watching
Congratulations. I’m thinking of buying a used one in the 60,000 mile range. I’m cautious and thinking of buying a used Versa, low mileage with manual transmission.
versa is a great choice!
Did you buy it and if so what year did you get please? I’m considering 2023 the midline.
no problems and kept it from 2013 to 2021
thats great to hear
I’m currently in my 13’ Altima SL 2.5L and shes crawling knocking on the door of 80k miles. Other than the known headlight and shifter release issues, she’s been good one. 10 mins drive to work everyday, regularly serviced(not the dealership) I’d be lying to you if I said I haven’t been getting a little worried recently. I’m due for a catastrophe in my life right about now😅
glad we share the same experience
I got a 2015 Altima 2.5L bought it new. At about 25000 miles it started to have a problem when I'm at a stoplight complete stop and then need to go press on the gas pedal and nothing happens car doesn't move for about 3-4 seconds then it will accelerate. I would have to turn engine off and on again and it will fix the problem until it would happen the next time. The second problem was the car would shutter at about 30 mph but not all the time. I did a little research and found out my cvt had a recall to reprogram the TMC the cvt computer. Took it to the dealer and they reprogrammed the cvt and WOW it fixed the stalling and shutter problem. The recall is because low cvt fluid pressure which causes the cvt belt to slip and get hot. My car honestly now feel like it drives better than when I got it new. Hope this will help if anyone else has same problem as me.
P.s. My car has 70000 miles on it and all I did so far is oil changes and a set of brake pads.
so are you happy with it?
@@carsunlocked Yes very much now. I wish I took it in sooner to get reprogrammed.
2007 Altima 3.5. 90K miles, engine/trans great but lots of ancillary fails. Upper motor mount, power steering, air con and both front light assy (fogged over and ballast).
ouch but car is over 15 years old
@@carsunlocked The power steering, motor mount and lights I replaced myself. I gave it to my son, it looks new.
I HAD ISSUES WITH THE SENSORS
thanks for watching
I REACON THAT ONE NEEDS TO ANAYLYSE IN WHICH AREA OF STATES THE MAXIMUM DAMAGE HAS OCCURED WITH THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS . CAUSE IN WARMER AREAS TRANSMISSION IS PRONE TO HEATING UP QUICKLY DUE TO FRICTION WHICH IN TURN CAN DEGRADE THE INTERNALS
I live in canada my dude
I’m going to Wisconsin any thoughts
This is all fine if you buy a NEW Nissan. But I would love to buy a Rogue, but the new ones have a turbo, something I do not want. Buying used you do not know how it was driven, because CVT's do not hold up if you constantly accelerate hard from a stop and not service them. I would love to buy one because I love the looks and interior but just scared the CVT would take a dump and I would be stuck with an expensive repair bill I cannot afford.
well you will never know now will ya
I'm looking for a new car but every time I mention a Nissan people always advice me to look away 😭.I really like the new versa
I have enjoyed my car and had a great experience
naw You not the only lucky one. I brought my 2013 in 2013 nissan altima s. I now have 262000 miles on it. only thing changed sine purchase is AC compressor at 30000 miles, gear shifter at 80000 miles and new transmission replaced at 97000 miles. other than that regular oil change brake pads and rotors and thats it. Oh driverside lower contol arm @ 179000 due to getting reregistered in new state inspectionin 2019 and the most recent 4/24 cv axle driver side. I will change the rear shocks next month but other than that imma keep it till the wheels fall off and pirchase new wheels and keep it going.......Just called Nissan customer corp to ask for the headlight replacement from law suit. it went all the way up to investigation department. schedule to talk to them tomorrow for decision. Since they have all the records of service since 2013 and the complaints the first rep says its a good chance that they will honor the recall for the headlights since I never received the postcard for the lawsuit to get them replaced in 2022 deadline. I'll let you know when I get answer tomorrow.
thanks for watching glad to hear you are enjoying your Nissan. Seems like your have properly maintained yours . Good luck with Nissan
No mention if you changed the transmission fluid
kept up with all recommended manufacturers maintenance
Nissan's recommended CVT change is 100% wrong. Every 30k is the way to go. . I have a 17 Altima, Its still a gamble that it wont blow. The Jatco CVT is not well engineered. Its the truth. @@carsunlocked
@@user-pc3rt3ln9hI do every 50k or so, really depends on the type of vehicle. I always say trucks should change CVT at LEAST every 40k miles preferably less
