- drivencarreviews.com Camry and Accord have been so popular for so long that it's hard to fathom that Altima has crashed their party. The new 2013 model looks like it's settling in for a lengthy stay. Tom Voelk checks out a well equipped V6 model.

Love these cars. I bought a 2005 Altima loaded. Loved it so much. Lost my job and now I ride a bike to work. Some day I'm gonna get another Altima.
Have you been able to get into another Altima?
texan903 yes. I was able to buy a 2014 Altima with a crazy interest rate of 24% but I worked my ass off and paid it off two years early. It’s a base model which is fine but I still really miss the other one.
@@79dogface good you at least have another Altima. Who knows, your next one could have everything you want it to.
texan903 very true
Thanks everyone. Much appreciated. Feel free to go to my website and "like" the review. It really helps!
This model was a game changer
Tom Voelk gives one of the best car reviews. I enjoy the details that he covers. He also keeps it to what matters. KBB used to be like that, but recently the KBB videos are more entertaining than informative (that also goes for TFL). Tom Voelk knows how to have a balance between the entertainment and informative aspects. I really appreciate the great work that he does on each review.
Love the effort you put into these reviews!
Another great review Tom. I have to say, I'm subscribed to many many automotive journalist channels on youtube and your reviews are consistently better than most of them. Despite "them" having huge budgets and recourses they still cannot stand up to the quality advice you provide. Keep up the good work, it is appreciated!
Great review, bought the 4 - SL loaded with tech package, LOVE THIS CAR!!!
Just thought i'd revisit my car back in 2012-2015. I loved this car. It was like semi luxury car with mad hp
Great review again Tom! You deserve a lot more recognition, views, and subscribers!!
You're the best Tom! you really deserve a lot of credit for the great work you do, God bless.
Thanks Tom. Great review. I wish I could buy one of these for my brother and sister in law.
Another great review!
Haha I agree, good points! Looking forward for you to test drive the Mazda 6. Love the reviews!
Great review! Thanks!
great review!
Altima looks sleek
If you have two teens like I do, they are always looking to charge their phones and iPods. Always.
love your review
Good review & great Nissan.
you make great reviews dude for normal everyday cars with a lot of necessary info! much more important to the average user than 0-60 times and drag races of 300+ hp cars...
Look Driven. Best car reviews on UA-cam hands down
I thought the car was ugly until I started seeing them, I love them! Only complaint is I still can't get over the rear. I wish they were more imaginative with it rather than copying and pasting the rear from the Maxima.
Agreed, while I could care less about the back seat port, my sanity is often gauged by my teens and that port is worth its weight in gold.
The new Corvette (C7) does not go on sale till at least late August.
CVT = lose
the automatic headlight on when the car has it's windshield wipers on = win. (and people SHOULD get tickets when they ride in the rain with out the lights on)
One of the best deals going if you want a V6 is the 2017 Altima SR. MSRP of around $31K and out the door right around $20K. Hard to top that deal!
It is not really the Maxima's little brother anymore. The wheelbase and the tracks are the same, but the Altima is a 1/2" taller and an inch longer. Good review.
About the whole thing with the windshield wipers, I know that here in West Virginia we are required to have our low-beams on whilst the wipers are on. From what I understand, you can actually get a ticket if you do not have them on.
Because I have not driven Mazda6 I hedged my statement with "it could be argued that..." Altima is very good in all around driving dynamics. Really though, at a certain point, the degree to which is best is fuzzy in the real world. To separate very good from the best involves instrumented tests, skid pads, and slalom runs which is something that parents toting their kids to school don't do much of.
Awesome review. Gotta love decent plastic wood :)
great review... great car..... good value for the money.... I dont know about you guys, but I dont have enough vacation time to buy a Ford.. since I will need so much time off to take it back to the dealer to get repaired!!!
TOM PLEAE DO A REVIEW ON THE REFRESH TOYOTA VENZA
What is the purpose of paddle shift in a CVT?
Altima 3.5 liter vs Volkswagen CC 2.0? any thoughts?
Last trip to the USA I've wanted a mustang. The rental company gave me a Altima instead. It felt so cheap, grandp edition, the throttle felt like a 50horse power Tank. If you go for nissan, I think it is the best if you only go for the "top line" models. Down below is a headache.
Love this car!
Altima V6 is amazing and so under rated.
You can't really make a useful judgement unless you actually drive the vehicle. For you all you folks that are doubting this car, trust me, this thing is amazing to drive and a nice eye candy in your driveway.
Test drove a V6 model and it was nice but not convincing enough to trade my Sonata Turbo. I liked Altima's room, engine, and horn indicator for proper tire psi. I have the 3 blink option for turn signal stalk. Ride was better than my Sonata but nothing compelling to me. I miss feel of the 2002-2006 Altimas without CVT. Overall, I prefer my car due to the superior feature/price ratio. If I had to get another car it would probably be between Optima SXL Turbo,Accord EXLV, or Passat CC in this class.
I'd rather the 2.5L over the 3.5l ......My first new car(still have) is a 2006 Altima 2.5L SE 136,000 and has power like a V-8......Love it!!!! .....That being said I also had the 2013 Altima 2.5L for a test drive and love it even more, it has more options than my current '06 SE, and the price is around the same. My old saying is trust the devil you know , not the one you don't know..... I love my Altima .Thank - You Nissan!!
want the 3 blink option on my Camry
New accord v6 has honda watch, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, directory rear view camera, etc...
Congratulations troll....come on man, if you're a Honda fan, go find Honda reviews to worship.
Those are pre-production prototypes. No one is getting the C7 in their hands to drive till late summer. The one in the Jay Leno video the one at the Super Bowl, those are NOT production cars.
The media drive for the C7 I believe late July early August according to my APA calendar.
I like how you didn't address the MAIN issue everyone is talking about online regarding this car.. The power steering makes a very quiet morse code/squeel sound at low speeds which gets louder over time. Oh well
The power port isn't a big deal, he only mentioned them in passing.
" 7 packs of 2-ply" -- yes, just enough for the weekend. :)
Why is a power port in the rear such a big deal? I can't remember the last time I even saw one in the back of a car, let alone anyone who used one. I don't even know who brings their phone's charging cable with them everywhere. I guess on long journeys it'd be nice but it seems to me like it wouldn't be used very much and wouldn't justify holding it against the car's value for not having one.
It is a pretty attractive car in a subdued way, not going to lie. Tough market though!!
I mentioned testing it, not buying it. Journalists can often get a peek into new cars well before they go on sale. Plus GM is already handing them over to sports and entertainment celebrities.
this segment is insanely competitve
Those old rocket blaster tail lights were ridiculous & hideous. The new 2013 is wicked.
mazda probably gonna be better on driving dynamic
Thanks Tom! Haha
Awesome toupee!!
The 2013 accord still better handler, and smoother cvt based on CR also the interior of the accord looks better to my eye
Accord has been in production for 44 years, it should be the better car given the headstart it's had on the Altima which has been on the market for 28 years. Honda is able to make a considerable investment into research, development and quality control for the mainstream Accord. That being said, Altima is not at all a bad product for what it is.
Still preferred my acura tl 02
You better test the new Corvette before Easter or else...
Note , for better fuel economy go with the 0-20 Mobile one Green label , full synthetic . It really helps this engine perform and get better fuel economy, I did extensive testing along with several other guys , technicians, engineers we noticed significant improvement in MPG and virtually every detail of performance . The 3.5 Nissan is an excellent engine , long life and high quality , Made even better by superior oil . I consistently got 3 MPG more , with an average of 34 MPG at 70 MPH , though this is not earth shattering , considering how powerful this little engine is and the cost , it makes the machine feel so much better
Would that particular oil work in the 4-cylinder model as well??
TheSpritz0 I have used the 0-20 oil , Mobile one for a long time . I do not know why Nissan has not went with it , other than shear strength value. Yes I use it in the 2010 Nissan Altima 4 cylinder model . On average Mobile one is claiming 5 % increase with their Green version of 0-20 . Most people get more depending on if you operate your car near the efficiency curve of the Engine . the Nissan 2.5 is operating at the Efficiency curve at around 60 MPH, on flat terrain , and not going against the Wind and if tires are inflated properly . It is a high torque Engine . Keep an eye on your RPM . You should get above 40MPG with Mobile one , green 0-20 viscosity , or up to 10 % more MPG . If you go outside the Efficiency curve naturally it reduces your MPG . What Nissan did with their transmission was reduce slippage, and try to match the engine Efficiency with the Torque curve , The Green label Mobile one 0-20 does have a few more additives to reduce friction over normal 0-20 . At Walmart they are all about the same price about 26 for 5 quarts. considering you can go at least 5,000 miles before any noticeable Carbon showing and increase your economy , this is a bargain considering the price of fuel . I go by Carbon content , not by what any manufacture claims . On most Cars the Engine will outlast everything else on the car because the owner has actually taken care of the Engine . he or she does nothing for other part of the car except clean it sometimes .
HEY TOM! try to get your hands on a Tesla Model S
was I the only one who thought there was a bit too much chrome on the grill?
Only one more till 100 videos!
Really? Altima is best handling in class, even better than Mazda 6 and Fusion?
I know it's great, but they really up the game that much in 2013? :O
Where is the evil twin brother :P?
I wonder if he returned all that toilet paper after the review.
you forgot the kizashi:) aha oh well everyone does anyways!
"high quality"
*whole dash moves.....
Altima!! VW gives lots of problems.. if u get a VW get a diesel engine
LED head lights, LED daytime running lights, LED brake lights...
Brake lights are led and led day time runners were added as accessories in 2015+ and headlights were xenon
Canto cuesta altima nissan
more like a smart mans Infiniti G37.
Could save some money by getting the 2.5 4 cylinder engine which reviewer said that many people buy. The mileage is better on the 2.5 version.
Too bad the electronics is Outdated considering that many auto makers include a Touchscreen with the radios as Standard equimpent unlike Nissan. The Bose stereo upgrade isn't even have touchscreen and the right side cuts off ~2" of the text, resulting in a waste of space.
Also, it's Not quiet compared to VW or Toyota cars and it still rides stiffly [had a 2005 Altima S].
If you want best sedan for family or your self just buy Altima it will surprise you
The exterior needs a whole lot more work, very boring appearance. I like the interior and its features, but the competitors are a step ahead of this Altima
Interesting car, not a big fan of the design though.
And you know what the Morse code is saying? Buy more Nissan products. Brilliant subliminal marketing.
Apparently it was disabled on my press car.
Looks like they stole G37 wheels.
i want one bad. but i hear so may bad things about them. recalls out the wazoo. safer car dot gov. geeezz so many complaints.scares me.
Everything that sucked about the last generation they sunk millions of dollars into fixing.
Great review! Ugly car..
It's a bit ugly, but most cars are nowadays.
Every car now days are ugly m because the make them all in one and spray in one colour.. older cars had styles n chrome's linings
Already looks bland as fuck
