U will get out of it. Stick to it! Your body and brain developed a comfort zone. U have to stop listening to it though. Something similar happened to me. Of course it was not only the music. I listened to music glorifying terrible circumstances and am realizing it and resetting my brain and body. Change your music and stay consistent. And also change the people and places and things of you have to. You can do this!

Yes this is true!! When I was in my late teens I listened to a lot of grunge/alternative rock (nirvana/stone temple pilots/linkin park, etc) basically a lot of dark heavy mood music. It was all I listened to, when I was chilling at home, driving, working out. I started struggling with depression quite deeply and now looking back there were other things that contributed to that episode but I realize the music I had on repeat was a big part of it… I still like grunge/alternative rock but only listen to it once in a blue moon. Be careful what music you listen to and watch out for your teens too, they don’t know any better.

The first note sounded like F#, the 2nd sounded like c#, the 3rd sounded like B natural. It’s really hard to tell because of the overtones (and possibly undertones if that’s a thing) making those thrumming sounds until it evened out into a recognizable pitch. Anyone else know the frequencies?

That's interesting that the size of the agitator effects the pitch of the plate. Now I'll have to try different sized rubber mallets on a Tibetan bowl to see if you can get different pitches. This also makes me wonder if you can put a rubber disc on a drill and generate a tone with it. My next question is what happens if the plate isn't round?
My bowl teacher always says to buy more mallets and not another bowl. He was right. BTW, get a thick wooden dowel made of Aspen wood. Very specifically aspen. Makes the best bowl roller ever!
Good question. There are plenty of simulations of how standing waves form in structures. The physics and computational science required to simulate these physics are used all the time when designing buildings. You can look those simulations up on Google or youtube. The reason why these are rotation symmetric and thus aesthetically pleasing in this case, is because the geometry of the object is already very symmetric.

That video _is_ pretty cool, but I think it's a bit misleading too. It gives the impression that all of the cymatics presented therein are the direct result of the corresponding music being played. It takes a little digging to find out that's not actually the case..
The first note sounded like F#, the 2nd sounded like c#, the 3rd sounded like B natural. It’s really hard to tell because of the overtones (and possibly undertones if that’s a thing) making those thrumming sounds until it evened out into a recognizable pitch.

Thats where chants come in place when one talks about the art of living or balancing or healing life. Chants or Mantras generate frequencies that serve a specific purpose so they should be used with proper knowledge and understanding, only then can they work favourably. The thing that comes closest to your idea is an earthquake. It is a mechanical wave of pressure difference which propagates throughout the earth crust just like audible sound is a mechanical pressure difference signal through air, only the frequencies ( = speed at which the signal goes up and down) involved in these larger scale events are very often very low, under the hearing threshold.

That's interesting that the size of the agitator effects the pitch of the plate. Now I'll have to try different sized rubber mallets on a Tibetan bowl to see if you can get different pitches. This also makes me wonder if you can put a rubber disc on a drill and generate a tone with it. My next question is what happens if the plate isn't round?
My bowl teacher always says to buy more mallets and not another bowl. He was right. BTW, get a thick wooden dowel made of Aspen wood. Very specifically aspen. Makes the best bowl roller ever!

Good question. There are plenty of simulations of how standing waves form in structures. The physics and computational science required to simulate these physics are used all the time when designing buildings. You can look those simulations up on Google or youtube. The reason why these are rotation symmetric and thus aesthetically pleasing in this case, is because the geometry of the object is already very symmetric.
Once we realize that sounds-vibrations have the power to effect, alter, mold and change the way we are, just the same as like what we eat, we lucky ones take note and make drastic changes in our lives for the better
