wow, there really are professionals in everything. this is why I love the internet, you get to see people showcase skills you might not have even known existed otherwise :)
For me this was the most impressive pattern, 9:22, considering that in came only from doing a single linear pass of the rake. The visual effect of that cuadricule is amazing.
This looks like it takes a lot of practice to get the lines so perfect, thank you. I love how you can still see the patterns after the under rake is used, very subtle and beautiful.
The precision is so soothing. They have me thinking, all surgeons must do this as an outlet, and to keep their coordination in tact. Absolutely lovely!

I think the fact it also looks very much like velvet and the neatness of the patterns give this satisfying soothingness. Has very much so scratched an itch in my brain that I never knew was there
Usually that phrase refers to the fact that a conflict has become inevitable and battle plans drawn up, so giving the phrase new connotations of peace and calmness is a really cool take on this!
This, was extremely calming for me. I was super stressed out and felt fine by the end of this video. I gotta make watching these a regular thing. As a mathematical person, I really love the geometric patterns here. I also love the dual concept of: 1) Being willing to put a lot of work into something beautiful and let it go 2) Having something really complicated that, at first glance, you don't know how it was made be wiped clean and smooth The second point was important for me and I felt a lot of the things I was worrying about vanish
Before watching this, I thought making a zen garden would be easy- but after, I see it takes alot of talent to actually make something that looks nice. Very impressive! 👍

19:36, the disc in the ripples is floating above the rings and bamboo poles below. it's as if the disc was dropped and the ripples are rolling out from the impact on the meniscus. it's all very 3D in a 2D plane
This came up as a recommendation and I am very happy. Such beauty exists in the simple sound of the tools on the sand, and the precision of the patterns. Thank you ❤
some may say that symmetrical shaping, planned sketching, and precision tools takes the zen out of the garden, but to those on the ocd spectrum it's absolutely necessary or the entire world will burn. pure relaxation...
I truly admire the precision of your gestures. This is the kind of thing I'd love to do for relaxation, but I'm clumsy, my hands are shaky, and I get nervous about little details like a line that's not straight etc... so I'd probably spend 20mn trying to draw a satisfying circle, fail, and get anxious 😂
well i don´t even have a zen garden so you´re doing better than me already man. Creation is a natural human trait, do you think ancient pots found at archaeological sites are made by masters? Nah. Just people doing people things. There is no fail. There is only create.
That's because you are thinking while you do it. The entire point of zen is let the mind do it's own thing. Release yourself from the need of controlling your mind.
Hahahaha! I was thinking the same about doing it for relaxation. Then I remembered my hands are shaky and I freak out about details like straight lines or perfect circles and would also spend forever trying to get it perfect and just end up anxious and stressed!! Better to watch someone else do it lol!
