    I was dealing with flaking in my scalp for over a year thinking it’s dandruff. I used dandruff shampoo but they didn’t stop it. My hairdresser finally convinced me to go to my doctor. She prescribed a dandruff shampoo also and after going through 2 of them it didn’t solve the problem. I finally insisted to be referred to a dermatologist. She prescribed a solution to rub on the affected areas of my scalp every morning along with using the shampoo. Within a week the flaking stopped. She insisted that I use up the solution and shampoo, because it may come back if I stop all of a sudden. I do have eczema on my skin but have never had scalp issues until now. So glad I went to my dermatologist and I didn’t just rely on the shampoo from my doctor.

    Thank you for this video! I found flakes and a scratchy area on my daughter’s scalp earlier this year. I feel terrible I didn’t see it earlier, but she has the THICKEST Greek and Italian hair (her hair is easily three times thicker than mine, and I have good hair). I have started using dandruff shampoo and just ordered a scalp serum from Bindi Boost. I wanted to try the Vichy scalp serum, but it is almost $50 💀 Edit: after watching the video, I feel like my daughter may have scalp psoriasis, which I was already leaning to because of the scratchy red area on her scalp. This video was so helpful. Thank you!

    I have scalp psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.. I always had an itchy patch and even if i didn't scratch it the flakes would be all over my clothes. But the skin condition isn't half as bad as the arthritis. Arthritis is the WORST! I've had psoriatic arthritis since I was in highschool and now I am 32.. so almost 15 years now of chronic pain.

    Thanks for the video! I've noticed I get a ton of scabs on the back of my head and always wondered what might be the cause, didn't think it was dandruff but wasn't sure what it could be. After watching the video, I feel like this it may just be scalp psoriasis. My dad has a ton of psoriasis all over his body, so it never occurred to me before this video that it was possible for it to just on the scalp!

    My mom had psoriasis...it appeared in her 30's after sitting out in the sun to get a suntan...her father had it & so I guess it was genetic....she developed psoriatic arthritis in her later years...both her skin condition & arthritis were devastating for her throughout her 80+ years of her life...people thought she was contagious...it was such a burden for her to endure😢
    Ironically, sun exposure & a sunlamp helped her skin condition....but it was still such a terrible time for her. She also used various medical creams & such rx'd by her skin doctor but her condition remained an unfortunate problem for her...I pray that a better therapy will be discovered soon for those who are presently suffering...🙏😕

    I had something for almost 20 years. It moved around on my scalp and sometimes would be completely gone. I suspected Psoriasis. Three doctors visits and no progress. I just lived with it. Then I got a wet sauna. Three days of usage and it was pretty much gone and has not come back. on average, I use the steam sauna 13 out of 14 days in a row. I suspect if I were to stop the sauna usage, it would come back.

    Hello Dr Dray, I have been seeing multiple videos on tiktok speaking about Candida also causing buildup, among other symptoms. (Of course there are products they promote to help) what can you tell us about Candida and its relationship to scalp health? Are there actual remedies and what type of doctors can help treat this? Thank you so much, I did research and found many of what look like fake medicines and would like to ask someone trustworthy!

    Hi Dr Dray :) I have been a long time user of Differin (4 years) with great success. After some stress around my health and taking biotin supplements that I shouldn’t have, I started really overproducing oil for the first time in years. I backed off the differin for a couple weeks thinking that I had broken the skin barrier but oil production only increased. I’ve reintroduced it for the last 2 weeks every 3 days AND sandwiching it to be super gentle. but still as oily as ever. will i get my differin progress back? i cant figure out why im so oily for the first time in years :( i loved differin and hoping it will correct itself

      @KhubaibAndain you might want to speak with your doctor about a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. There are a few types but one of the diagnostic criteria can be unusually stretchy skin. Look this up online for much more.

    Can you give yourself Psoriasis? I unfortunately unknowingly was using expired rogaine 🤦🏼‍♀️ and now Ive been dealing with a patch of scaly and flaky skin on my scalp, that I’ve had for months that will not go away not to mention all the hair growth I achieved in that area is now gone 😩

    • @user-zk8ed4kd2b
      @user-zk8ed4kd2b 14 днів тому +1

      No, you didn't give yourself psoriasis but the Rogaine might have caused irritation which triggered the rash of psoriasis to appear. You were probably carrying psoriasis in your genes and it finally appeared. Whenever you discontinue Rogaine the hair you grow will fall out.

    • @JustineC233
      @JustineC233 14 днів тому +2

      @ yeah I’m more worried about the hair that was originally there that’s now gone. The regrowth from the rogaine was pretty minimal. Currently using coal tar shampoo so hopefully after using it for a bit my scalp will heal
