I have scalp psoriasis. The best oil I have found that works on it is olive oil. I cover my entire scalp and hair with it. Then I tie a plastic shopping bag over my head. I leave it on for 12 to 24 hours then I shower. (shampoo twice) After this treatment the scale is 100% gone and my skin is soothed. I then apply my prescription scalp lotion. My hair is nice and soft. I have tried every kind of oil however olive oil has worked the best for this.
Dr. Dray doesn't usually recommend olive oil though because it can cause irritation and exacerbate the issue. She says mineral oil and coconut oil are better choices.
I made a video called: How to treat psoriasis according to science - How I cleared my psoriasis. It cites all the research I used to clear my psoriasis after 11 years and have been cleared for 4 years. Love to all my psoriasis fam. Hope this can help someone else.
This video went deep. I feel like you were talking to me personally and I appreciate it all. I have psoriasis and I’m overweight and depressed. I had just started thinking about going for a walk and now I’m more motivated. Thank you.
I am going through similar and recently found "Gro With Jo" here on UA-cam. She does these "walk with Jo" exercise videos and she's really upbeat and positive. I like them because sometimes I don't want to walk outside and I look forward to them every day. Just felt the need to share and I wish you well!
I have very mild psoriasis. I have been using The Body Shop ginger scalp treatment for 3 years and it has helped immensely. I saw my Dr for eczema who told me to eliminate gluten, sugar and dairy but this has also helped my psoriasis. I know different things help different people.
Thank you for this. I'm a hairstylist and I like to share your videos with my clients who suffer with hair and scalp conditions. I also recommend they see a dermatologist.
A combination of rosemary water, and nizoral shampoo made my scalp psoriasis disappear. I still have it on my skin, but tea tree oil and a cream called exederm is working wonders. Also taking vit D, tumeric, and cod liver oil.
I just paid $300 for a derma consult and I wish I had seen this first. I got fuck all information from my specialist . Thank you so much , I think this just made me really see the light . There’s hope
Also sometimes I share this, the Bible says that GOD loves us so much that he sent his son JESUS CHRIST to this earth and HE lived a perfect sinless life. And JESUS went to a cross and gave HIS life for us.And rose again in 3 days and who ever will receive JESUS AS THEIR SAVIOR AND ASK HIM TO COME INTO THEIR HEART AND FORGIVE THEIR SINS,HE WILL TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN.
I was literally standing in the anti-dandruff section of my local supermarket yesterday staring at all the different options Dr. Dray it’s like you’re reading my mind thank you
This is the first thorough and properly educating video on psoriasis I've seen, and the deeper understanding that you have of the other problems most people with psoriasis are facing is why. Thank you!
I pick my scalp when I'm stressed or depressed and it's such a hard habit to break 😐 I've done this since I was 12 or so... It's definitely been worse this past year, for obvious reasons. Anyway, thanks again for another informative video Dr Dray ✌❤ I hope everyone is having a wonderful week 🌺
Has nothing to do with psoriasis but, medicine resident here. As someone that’s going into pulmcrit, my comfort level of talking about acne and eczema in the primary care setting has grown tremendously since I started watching this channel. #thankyouDrDray
Thank you so much for this video Dr. Dray! I have psoriasis and axial psoriatic arthritis (and am on a biologic) along with a few other chronic conditions and have been having a really rough time lately, feeling like this disease has taken so much from me. Although I already do most of the things you mentioned, i teared up a bit when you acknowledged that psoriasis can feel defeating and emphasized that there ARE things we can do. I would love to see more psoriasis videos, perhaps about the different prescription treatments and procedures and the different types of psoriasis (I've had guttate, plaque and inverse). What OTC products are good for psoriasis or at least won't make it worse, and what ingredients in skincare products should be avoided would be great! Again, thank you for being you and for sharing your life and knowledge with us.
I was never taught how to deal with it, and never really was helped while i grew up by my parents, i havent taken care of my scalp psoriasis before until now in my life that im discovering how to take care of myself in general. These kind of videos help a lot!
Thank you for this video! I struggle with scalp psoriasis for 15 years now. Never did I get such good tips from any of my dermatologists, I was actually misdiagnosed for several years as my scalp psoriasis appeared when I was 15. I would love a video about scalp psoriasis and hair loss, another struggle I’ve been facing for 4 years now, with no improvement.
I have PsA w/the rash. I am limited to medication I can take for it because I am allergic to Aspirin. In finding Dr. Dray, my skin has improved 100%. I used to have patches of psoriasis on my legs. I now use the dandruff shampoo 2-3 times a week in the areas with psoriasis when I have a flair up. It is amazing how much faster it clears up now when I have a flair up. I still have my topical prescriptions and use lot of CeraVe and Eucerin creams. But bathing the right way has made a HUGE IMPACT. Thanks Dr. Dray!
I have been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis for over 20 years and have had a lot to psoriasis. I’ve tried all the things you talked about and they work pretty well.
I LOVE My Dr. Dray, like she is part of My living routine nowadays. Since i have depression and insomnia i only Focus My life to take care of My skin , because it's the only thing that help me stay calm. Love her knowledge and tips! My sunscreen is on already xoxo
I’m so grateful for your YT channel. I do have psoriasis and pretty bad acne scarring but thanks to your channel and adopted lifestyle modifications - I’m HAPPY HAPPY with my skin for the first time!! This is earth-shattering for me personally. Stay fabulous! :)
My husband has bad psoriasis on his scalp, and he actually sat down with me and watched this video we are heading out now to buy him some new shampoo thanks you Dr Dray for all you do for us ❤️
Thanks Dr Dray. It’s really helpful to hear such an extended take on how to deal with psoriasis. In my case it affected so many aspects of my life that I accepted the lows and highs of it in my daily life. Picking and scratching, there are days it’s all under control but also days where I become aware that I’m scratching my scalp only because my partner kindly reminds me not to. Nutrition is something I’m having no problem with, or at least not anymore. I do have a tendency to gain weight but I found ways to treat myself with healthy meals. Those daily moments of self care have become very important. Meals, skincare, exercise if possible go way beyond psoriasis control but can benefit on so many levels. Thanks again for this video and your other videos on psoriasis but all the others as well. Many 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That's the huge mistake in the medical system, to have a doctor for every part or organ of our body, when the body is a whole. If psoriasis is caused by inflammation IN THE BODY then we should treat the INSIDE of the body. Anything topical is a band aid.
Hi Dr. Dray, I'm a first-time and viewer who developed a bit of scalp psoriasis over the winter. I thought it was from the dry winter conditions; but learned through Google search that it is more than that. My doctor recommended I start by using T/Gel. While searching UA-cam, I came across your channel. I'm so glad I took the time to listen to it, because you provided so much in-depth information about causes and treatments. Would never, ever have connected my really poor sleeping habits (staying up till all hours of the night, rising so late in the morning, nodding off throughout the day from lack of sleep) as contributing to my scalp psoriasis. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm going to start using T/Gel and making more at a concerted effort to improve my sleep schedule. Will be watching for more of your very informative videos. 💜💜
I have tried every otc and prescription med possible except for a biologic. A pandemic isnt the best time to start one of those so the suffering continues. It is so easy to say “Don’t pick” but continuous relentless itching is impossible to ignore!
Dr Dray, thank you so so much!!💕💕💕 I’ve been a subscriber for many years and haven’t seen this one. This is full of support, validation, and really pragmatic tips. Some I know and practice, some I’ve suspected, and others are brand new! In addition to psoriasis, I have psoriatic arthritis. My rheumatologist suggested an anti inflammatory diet when I was first diagnosed. It helps soooo much. The way I look at it, food is the largest volume of chemicals I put in my body, so I want to be careful which ones I allow in. Thank you, again!
I would love it if you could talk about Ichthyosis. I see a dermatologist but most that I have seen seem to know very little about the condition and what products to recommend. Especially ichthyosis on your scalp! That is the most challenging for us I feel.
I’m African American it is only on my scalp my skin is flawless I’ve never had a pimple but I can say when i was younger and not overweight I only had dandruff this video was really helpful
VERY good video! Thank you so much!! I have silver hair and found that the coal tar shampoo discolored my hair. I switched to T/Sal and found that it does not discolor.
This video was very informative. I Picked my scalp so bad that it spread all over my scalp. I then put a tight braid style in hair and a large amount of my hair came out. I’m treating it with zinc shampoo, coconut oil and mineral oil. I’m hopeful to get my scalp back to normal and this video was so helpful.
Dr. Dray, please make a video on oily eyelids! Why they happen and maybe what type of products might just help with that issue? I used to have very oily/acne prone skin during puberty but now because of your channel it has calmed down to a normal skin type but I still always have oily eyelids especially in the summer, ugh! I've tried researching it but all that pops up is to use cosmetic products such as primers and oil absorbing sheets. Anyways, thanks for the vids!
So I Sam a 54 yr old African American woman. I grew up with eczema in my scalp. Recently I was diagnosed with psoriasis. It is all over my scalp, inside my ears (ugh), behind an ear, and on my face. My dermatologist tried to freeze a spot on my temple/hairline. I am so frustrated. Peeling the scales relieves the itching for me. I was given the medicated shampoo that I should leave on my scalp for ten minutes. I don’t understand why this has flared up at this age. I did use the T Gel before going to the dermatologist and it took the pain away. The itching though is unreal. My dermatologist did not go over any of this information.
All thanks to (Dr iyare moses) on youtube channel for curing me from psoriasis/hyperthyroidism with his natural herbs supplement& body cleanser thank you doc..
Thank you so much! All the products you mentioned to help the symptoms of psoriasis are right on. Farther more, I love you mentioning about healthy lifestyle habits and bringing to light that people with psoriasis when having to deal with the frustrating disease, tend to have a problem with substance abuse, and mostly alcohol abuse. Turning the whole life a snowball of cause and effect making the disease worst, and that resulting into more substance abuse and depression. I like that you boarded that aspect of this cruel inmune disorder. Thank you!
I really loved this video, very caring and loving personality. Especially when you started talking about topics about mental health and drug abuse. I’m gonna subscribe!
In Germany we have "Sebamed". I am using their shampoo since years and it helped me a lot. After using a heavy cortisone cream multiple times in my childhood, this saved my scalp. After quitting eating meat, I did not have ANY psoriasis on my scalp anymore. Only in the ears sometimes.
Dear Dr Dray - as most of us trust you a lot and this past year I would suggest that a few more of us have issues with sleep/stress/exercise/good habits it would be really useful if you could go into some of the apps you find helpful - esp beginner and middle ones. All your audience witness your immense self-discipline but believe you are very compassionate and, IMO many others would love to hear your recommendations re the apps that gently encourage those of us who are 'not quite (read light years away from reaching) your level!
Neutropenia T-Gel is great. I’ve used it for years and I have a clear scalp and thick, full hair. I’m a male. It really smells very good and you won’t mind it at all!!! Coal Tar is really the answer!
Thank you, Dr Dray! I was diagnosed last Year, in June 2020, with Psoriasis at 57. It started on my hands, then moved to my face. I had to stop using Tretinoin 😥 because it was so irritating even though I know it's suppose to help. Now it's on my scalp. I am so glad I found your video today after I googled pictures of scalp psoriasis. I've been watching you for quite sometime. Hubs drove me to Walmart and we picked up the Dermarest and Mineral Oil, almost immediately and before finishing your video, LOL. I'm back and will follow your recommendations first thing tomorrow morning. Now I am wondering if the switch to 25 mg Losartan could of triggered the psoriasis after all these years and not in my genes. After reading that some blood pressure can trigger it today, I plan on sending my Primary Doc an email. Thanks again 😊
@@shellyliu Hi Shelly, I'm still using the Dermarest once a week or so, I find it did/does help. I actually stopped using the mineral oil. My Psoriasis is better now though. My Derm Doc had me on Otezla (failed, stomach issues) but now I'm on Tremfya ($5 copay), 2nd self injection about a week ago and from now on it's every 8 weeks. Major difference and getting better daily.
Thank you !! Just what I needed. My hairdresser is looking for a mild color treatment. My dermatologist (male) was useless, he didn't even look at my scalp 🤨
Thank you for this!! I have dandruff but also scalp psoriasis around the back of my ears and nape of the neck. I’ve tried every shampoo in the drug store and I use it daily, had prescription creams and foams that don’t help much. I still “snow” all over my clothes😭 I do have a habit of picking it, I don’t get enough sleep, and the anxiety/stress. I really want to try these tips and perhaps a medication!
Coal tar is awesome. I currently use the shampoo Alphosyl 2 in 1. Cleared the scales without rebound and leaves the hair soft and easy to comb. The smell is ok as they put a herbal fragrance.
Thank for this kind of videos, keep doing them, specially talking about diet, stress management, etc. I start a vegan diet in pandemia that has improved my skin a lot. I try to have better sleep habits too. I listen, and enjoy very much, some episodes of Andrew Huberman and Mathew Walker podcasts related. I think tackle stress is gonna be the next step.
thank u i did not know i had psoriasis wow ,now i use the dermarest shampoo, no bumps or itchy head omg it works , when i used it and rised my hair out died skin came out in the rise wow .. thank you ,not everyone can go to the dermatologist this was so helpfull ..
A keto/carnivore diet helped me with my psoriasis (scalp). My carb and sugar intake is zero. It is not a cure because you're just genetically predisposed to this condition if you have it. But I no longer suffer like I used to before; waking up in the middle of the night scratching my forehead and scalp to oblivion.
I clicked on this video so fast! haha I definitely scratch and pick, not just my scalp psoriasis. I have psoriasis basically head to toe and I've always been conscious of the flakes that end up on my shirt from my scalp psoriasis. I finally decided to use a salicylic acid shampoo+conditioner from one of your Instagram posts because the itching had become worse. After this video, I might go out and also purchase a coal tar shampoo to put into my rotation! I got mixed advice about shampooing everyday, so I stopped doing that, but I always felt my scalp feel better when I did so everyday, so I'm going to go back and do it! Your lifestyle advice was great! It's all the things I know I should do, but have a hard time implementing haha In all honesty, its hard to stay motivated, especially when I've had it for so long and there isn't really a cure for psoriasis, just treatments. That being said, thanks for uploading psoriasis content! I love being more informed about psoriasis! And I definitely use your other videos for product recommendations for my skin!
Dr. Dray I just want to Congratulate you on 1 million Subscribers!!!!! 🎊🎊🎊 I have being following you since the earlier day. I am so happy that you are on this platform because I've learned SO much from your content. You are truly amazing in your work !!!!
Thank you for this information. I visit a dermatologist but I'm still struggling despite the treatments he recommends. I'm going to develop a plan based off your advice and I think it's really going to help.
Also, off topic but thanks for the tip about Neutrogena hydro boost cleanser - I've been using it for a couple of weeks now as my skin had been terribly dry this winter, but since I started with the hydro boost cleanser followed with the cerave moisturiser I have had no more dryness! 🌈🙏😘
This is a really useful video thank you. I have been using coal tar (Alphosyl) shampoo for 20 years which keeps the scales back and reduces some itch. I will look into salicylic acid shampoo for the scalp. I used a have a prescribed scalp solution but it seems to have stopped working. I also find glucosamine, vitamin D, cod liver and omega oil supplements helpful to stop my knees swelling. I think that it is psoriatic arthritis.
Thank you for this video. I’ve used many different shampoos though years, some mentioned in your video and they all helped a bit. Lately I’ve been using Sebcur medicated shampoo and it’s been helping more then others( at least for now). Maybe it’s because it has both salicylic acid(4%) and tar (10%)! Have a nice week ahead dr. Dray!
Thank you for making this video. It's really informative. I will use your tips and make changes to my lifestyle. I have an appointment with a dermatologist next week, hopefully I can get this sorted and start living without this horrible itch all over my scalp.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have struggled with scalp psoriasis for years and I learned a few things today. I can’t wait to try some of your suggestions. ❤️

Coal tar works to exfoliate.

I just love how well spoken you are! Such a joy to listen to and learn from👌🏼😇
This video was very informative. I
Picked my scalp so bad that it spread all over my scalp.
Thank you for the great advice🌟
Mine was gone permanently through the help of DR OSEMUAHU on UA-cam you can contact him also he can help you 😊

Coconut oil fixed my problem .....and L-Glutamine. No more psoriasis.
Really good to see you describe how they look on different skin tones.
I really enjoyed the intro on this video- changing it up a bit, is always refreshing :)
I’ve started using “free and clear shampoo” it’s dye free and frange rance free so it helps my psoriasis on my skin as well too
3 kiwi fruit daily , apply castor oil 4 times daily , 3 days started working and 2 weeks fully recovered.
Super informative, thanks!
very informative video, thanks. a video on psoriatic arthritis would be kinda cool, too.
Just got diagnosed with scalp psoriasis at 39. This video is cool.
Help me appreciate Dr iyaremoses on UA-cam for assisting me in curing my anosmia/psoriasis disease with his herbs
If you tried Tgel and didn’t work for you, try the extra strength Tgel. I’ve been using it for years and it’s helped me so much.
Thanks again 😊
did the dermarest and mineral oil work?
@@shellyliu Hi Shelly, I'm still using the Dermarest once a week or so, I find it did/does help. I actually stopped using the mineral oil. My Psoriasis is better now though. My Derm Doc had me on Otezla (failed, stomach issues) but now I'm on Tremfya ($5 copay), 2nd self injection about a week ago and from now on it's every 8 weeks. Major difference and getting better daily.
Thank you !! Just what I needed. My hairdresser is looking for a mild color treatment. My dermatologist (male) was useless, he didn't even look at my scalp 🤨
raw Shea butter has helped me a lot amazon has good psoriasis products for cheap.
Hello have anyone heard of Dr iyaremoses on UA-cam channel he cured me permanently from psoriasis with herbal remedy..
Same 😔😔😔😔😔
❤thank you for putting out alot of info.you are great at your profession. Great advice !!!!
Coal tar is awesome. I currently use the shampoo Alphosyl 2 in 1. Cleared the scales without rebound and leaves the hair soft and easy to comb. The smell is ok as they put a herbal fragrance.
Vitamins D w/ K sublingual helps my psoriasis so much 🤷🏼♀️
Thank for this kind of videos, keep doing them, specially talking about diet, stress management, etc.
I've been struggling with this issue for a while. The fact that you make this video is means a lot for me. Thank you very much ☺💛
Very well done👍👍
Wow. Really a profound video. I was expecting a shampoo recommendation, but this provided so much more.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks so much for this my boyfriend suffers with this issue and more information always helps. I had no idea mental health can be impacted by this.
Yes!!! when I did a strict keto after the first two weeks I noticed my scalp was normal.
Please review Dr Strum products thank you!?
Thank you for this. I'm trying to manage my scalp until I can afford to see a dermatologist to confirm what's going on.
I clicked on this video so fast! haha
I definitely scratch and pick, not just my scalp psoriasis.
I am suffering from it and your video is quite educational, hope i get better soon

Thank you for this information. I visit a dermatologist but I'm still struggling despite the treatments he recommends. I'm going to develop a plan based off your advice and I think it's really going to help.
Can you do tips for Psoriasis of the nails..fingers and toes? Thank you for these tips, I am sure they would help.
thanks doc on the great advice about hair damage an scalp damage an talking a lil bit about the treatments for the hair an scalp damages..
Also, off topic but thanks for the tip about Neutrogena hydro boost cleanser - I've been using it for a couple of weeks now as my skin had been terribly dry this winter, but since I started with the hydro boost cleanser followed with the cerave moisturiser I have had no more dryness! 🌈🙏😘
Very helpful vid . Thanks
Your skin is particularly glowing today doc :)
thanks! Happy Tuesday!
Great video !
Dray!
3 kiwi fruit daily , apply castor oil 4 times daily , 3 days started working and 2 weeks fully recovered.
use psoriasis cerave cream ,it was life-changing
I've been waiting for this! Thanks Dr.Dray

Dr. Dre is a good doctor. My body will be thankfull if I manage to go through with all those things. Thank you, btw your gangsta rap is great.
Ahahahhaah
Thank you for making this video. It's really informative. I will use your tips and make changes to my lifestyle. I have an appointment with a dermatologist next week, hopefully I can get this sorted and start living without this horrible itch all over my scalp.
3 kiwi fruit daily , apply castor oil 4 times daily , 3 days started working and 2 weeks fully recovered.
Thanks Dr dray you so helpful in this treatment ...May God bless you
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have struggled with scalp psoriasis for years and I learned a few things today. I can’t wait to try some of your suggestions. ❤️
and did it help?
It help. Exercise, washing hair more often with free sulfate shampoo and coconut, organic, unfiltered oil
