Abe is easily up there with my favourite drummers off all time. So dynamic and his accents on certain notes. He holds them together so well holy titties🤘
@ 0:29 he hit them damn crashes with all his might. He obviously was very emotional and missed his buddy. Such conviction, such fervor. All wrapped up among his amazing time with his accents on the downbeats and such. Abe’s a force of nature, no doubt about it. That’s what happens when the thing you love to do most in the world has become a way of existence and not just a hobby or an extension of your personality.
It's so unfair that chi died, he got so much support from his band and other artists. They even made a charity for chi cheng's operation. Sadly it wasn't enough to safe him. RIP our Brother Chi. You shall never be forgotten.
This hits really hard seeing how they did this for chi and that he’d pass away in 2013. Just seeing them play this beautiful song and all united for their brother. Deftones are just on another level.
I absolutely ADORE this album! SNW was one of my all time favorites, and White Pony is what got me into them initially.

I always thought I was in the minority although I do love the self-titled album which is my second favorite album by them for me Saturday Night Wrist was when they peaked all around for music. I know white pony was their most successful album commercially but Saturday Night Wrist was they're most ambitious and for me the most creative, and I love this album for it.

Such a beautiful song with so many emotional textures and balances.. one of my absolute favorites by Deftones!!!
My favorite Deftones song.
This is my fave version of this song. Also my favorite song to play on guitar and tied as my favorite song of all time with the tomb raider 2 theme of all things. What I love about this is you can tell they’re all emotional but Abe especially. Like, he obviously was missing his friend and brother. That final pass before Chino starts the verse, when Abe’s hitting both his crashes @ 0:29, you can just tell by his body language he’s giving it everything hitting them damn cymbals as hard as he can for Chi. Abe’s drums are definitely the glue that holds the band together, it’s a sound that’s instantly recognizable AND Abe drums with such conviction and force that it drives his performance by fueling his emotions. Criminally underrated in his generation. Certainly one of the drummers I bass my approach on, in fact one of my biggest influences. Not many drummers play with such fervent conviction and obvious passion as he does, homie’s just built different. They don’t make em like that no more 🤘🏻🖤🖤.

Wondering why they never considered Chi's brother as a replacement. Ming taught Chi to play the bass...
Tbh probably would have been a better replacement (No offense to Sergio)
I haven't looked into it so I could be wrong. But who is to say they hadn't considered Ming as a replacement. I imagine there might have been a considerable emotional weight to fill Chi's shoes that Ming may not have wanted to sign up for every rehearsal, every performance etc
They might've asked maybe he just didn't want to do it, touring and writing isn't an easy thing and especially not to replace your brother.
Never seen Deftones perform a decent quality show till now... I guess it's the love they gave for Chi :'(

Got to see the Deftones live at the Fillmore back in 2012 I think not sure what year it was but Chi’s son was welcomed on stage by the guys and played a couple sets with them in his memory. I WILL NEVER FORGET MINE AND WIFES TEARS THAT NIGHT. ONE LOVE FOR CHI
