It's great to use with a pyromancy flame since it doesn't require any stat investment. That means you can incorporate it in any way, not just a ridiculous (but fun) spell swap only run.

Your commentary was well scripted, and your editing was great, too. I hope you are able to gain more traction with your channel soon, I feel like you have quite a lot to offer your audience moving forward! All the best!
It is certainly one of my favorites! Some of the other spells have interesting effects such as making the character's hands glow in an aura of whatever you cast. I'll have to find a way to show that off too as it's pretty cool (even if it's only visual).
It is great. I also want to learn the "true" asylum skip where you don't defeat Asylum first, but haven't managed it it the bit of time I've spent a while ago.
I'll recommend putting some random background music. Doesn't matter what. It will hide the echo from your voice and make it eeever so slightly more energetic. But details, actions, fights. I already subscribed. The video was great.
I experimented some with this but it's great to get feedback from someone else. I'll have to experiment some more for the next video. I'm glad you still enjoyed!
I remember trying the True Asylum skip before but couldn't quite get it or find good explanations of it. Fake Asylum skip is fairly easy and feels fair enough, but I'd love to incorporate the True skip at some point. I might have to go back and try to learn that one for future runs.

By the way, very interesting that this glitch keeps coming back in every pc game FromSoft releases, huh? I've seen variants of it in ds1, ds2, ds3 and even Elden Ring. Must have something to do with the way they code actions and recovery animations, I suppose.
Yeah, not too surprising. I imagine there's a good amount of code reuse as why reinvent the wheel. I've not tried this glitch on the other titles but it would be interesting to see how related they are in some of the details on how they work.
@@keiferjh Ds2's is the hardest to pull out, and I think ds3's is the easiest. Ds3 has the bow glitch which makes you able to do some whacky shit, like estus refill as long as you have fp, adding Eleanora's bleed to weapons and machine gun greatbow. Of course, I'm sure you've heard about the chainsaw in elden ring.
Are you using a macro or something to do the swap glirch, or it's modded into the game? Because I couldn't find a spell swap method in ds1 that didn't require you to jump off of some height. First time seeing this method, actually. Gotta admit, looks very interesting and fun. If it is an organic glitch, I'll use it in my playthroughs.
No mods or macros for this spell swap. It's a bit different from the "force buff" version of the glitch that also works with items that you're probably talking about that used a ledge. Technically current speed runs use the same spell swap I use here. The ledge there is now used to be able to interact with a bonfire while Homeward is being cast; the swap itself just requires two spell tools and not necessarily the ledge. I'm actually working on a video covering how the glitch is done and some of the other interesting interactions as magic adjust is treated really oddly. Briefly all you need to do is start a cast that you can do normally with one spell tool and then immediately attempt to cast the other spell with the second spell tool. You should get the animation of the first spell but the effect of the second.
Yeah, it had my hopes up for a second. If anyone every finds a way to do it it'll be amazing, but it kind of makes sense that it works the way that it does.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem like you can "hold" a multi-hit attack; you only get a single button push worth each time. When you do the swap two checks effectively happen. First it will check if your first spell (say Fire Surge) has any casts left and if it does you will be able to perform a spell swap even if the second spell (say Gravelord Swords) doesn't have any casts. Second it will check how many casts you have of the second spell to determine how many multi-hits to perform (assuming both spells have multiple hits). For each hit the second spell count is decremented accordingly and so quickly you're left with just doing single hits of the spell.
I rarely use it too so I forgot how crazy the defense increase can be. It seems to be used so infrequently that I don't blame you for not encountering it until now!
It's been a while since I've played ds3 so I'm not sure about the state of its glitches. If it has a similar spell swap I agree; it would be very interesting to see how it routes in that game too!
@citriskid I've got a few more ideas in ds1 but I wouldn't be surprised if I start poking around with other Souls' glitches. I'm sure there's plenty of opportunity for glitchy fun in all the games!

I'm glad some folks are as interested as I was in how it works since I'm making a video on that too! This way you can get the animation of the first spell but the effect of the second. Generally this makes it much more convenient than the ledge version, although that version still has it's uses too.
@@keiferjh i keep trying to switch fast either the spell or the item, with both hands using a catalyist my character just stands there switching between both of the unable to cast animations
The timing can be difficult and I believe to do it from a neutral state you need to have a male character. I like to use the correct tool for the spell that I can cast in the off-hand and the other tool in the weapon slot. From there on controller I can press LB + D-Pad up at the same time followed very quickly by RB. Sometimes it feels like I'm almost doing those two sets at the same time. If you get an unable to cast animation you do have to wait until it progresses enough to try again or else you'll just keep getting that animation. The easiest way to start is to wait for the animation to completely finish, but there is technically a point during the animation you can try again. Hopefully once I have a video explaining it it'll be easier to visualize. You could also look up recent wrong warp videos and just ignore the ledge part. It's actually a good way to practice wrong warp by just spell swapping homeward first, then incorporating the ledge for full effect.
I find it funny that once you successfully do some of the spell swaps, your character scratches their head like “Uh, what did I just do?” Edit: How do you keep track of the failed spell swaps and all of that? Just reviewing the footage and adding that box? Or is there something that automatically counts that?
The head scratches are very fitting, aren't they! As for the counting, all manual I'm afraid. Not too bad for a single video, but if I were to do it again I'd try to be more clever about it.
When spell swapping there are two main things you can alter: the animation used to cast and the magic adjust the final damage is calculated with. Using any flame (regardless of upgrade) you can swap from Fire Surge which gives you a lot of casts in case you mess up and also a fast animation to cast with. Using a second flame, fully upgraded, you can then get quite a high magic adjust for damage calculation. This way you can get a fairly fast and strong spell swap, technically without having to level the character at all!
@keiferjh so basically you can gain the spell adjust of BOTH pyromancy flames for the damage cal? Does it matter which flame you use? Since I saw you using the normal flame in your left hand and the stronger one in your right. Tbh I do need to research how the spell swap really works but I'm just curious. Kinda reminds me of the buff forcing glitch in ds3.
@dirtydan4661 You only get the magic adjust of one of the flames, but that's still better than using a Talisman normally without any Faith levels. It also allows for using higher magic adjust if you use a spell tool like Tin Crystallization Catalyst instead as it scales higher than any Talisman can. There's a bunch of interesting interactions and nuances to play around with; I covered some in more detail in this video: ua-cam.com/video/zaxjl7g-aBY/v-deo.html
@@keiferjh oh ok thanks. I was just wondering why you got two pyromancy flames lmao. Since I understood that part of stuff at least I think i was just confused why ya got two flames lol. It is very comical the only way to make miracles super strong is without using talismans- btw. Have you tested if miracle white sigils work with this glitch? You should look up how to spawn them with modding tools and test em Edit: just watched the vid part way through and ger why you had two lol
@dirtydan4661 Comical indeed. Tin Crystallization Catalyst just makes everything better :D Do you mean Miracle Synergy from Resonance Signs? I've not tested it directly but it should work the same as Ring of the Sun Princess, which did work even when spell swapping Wrath of the Gods.
There's a Quantity Usage glitch that lets you use more of a consumable then you actually have. The best is to do the glitch with another item with a higher quantity prompt (such as vendor stock of arrows) but there's a curious "default" value of 99 you can use once per save-and-quit. If you're interested I do have a video on Quantity Usage glitch.
@dorcusss3693 Ah, yes. That's another interesting glitch where you can drop negative values of items. I also have a video on that glitch too and I'm sure there's plenty of material on it elsewhere too. I know it's used in any% speedruns for upgrade mats.
I'm currently working on a video to cover more about how to do Spell Swap and it's interesting interactions. The short version, however, is that if you start to cast a spell (pyromancy, sorcery, or miracle) properly with one spell tool but immediately cast a different one with another tool you get the second cast with the animation of the first, even if you don't meet it's requirements. It also does some wonky stuff with damage calculations depending on what the spells are.
@Ahhhhh638 Yup, there's all sorts of interesting effects it can create and they even stack. Play around with all sorts of spells and you'll see it can get pretty crazy. Sadly they're just visual but it's still entertaining!
I use both the Quantity Usage glitch that lets you use an item with a quantity larger than you have as well as the glitch that lets you drop negative quantities. If you're interested in either of them I already have videos for each.
@zakktaylor5019 Understandable. That glitch isn't particularly convenient on consoles. It's much better on PC when you don't have to go through those steps since the mouse and keyboard method is so much easier.
While I only looked into it briefly, the lore behind Gwyndolin makes it a bit complicated. From what I can tell Gwyndolin was born male but raised as a daughter. Gwynevere even refers to Gwyndolin as her brother.
My favourite run ever !!! I did at first only miracle and pyromancy and then only sorcery. It was so fucking funny it really does make you think and play the game differently ! I would also reccomend only bow and consumable it is also very funny

The head scratches are very fitting, aren't they! As for the counting, all manual I'm afraid. Not too bad for a single video, but if I were to do it again I'd try to be more clever about it.
*Almighty Push*
Why are you using two pyromancer flames
You should look up how to spawn them with modding tools and test em
Edit: just watched the vid part way through and ger why you had two lol
@dirtydan4661 Comical indeed. Tin Crystallization Catalyst just makes everything better :D
Do you mean Miracle Synergy from Resonance Signs? I've not tested it directly but it should work the same as Ring of the Sun Princess, which did work even when spell swapping Wrath of the Gods.
how did ya get so many humanities so early
There's a Quantity Usage glitch that lets you use more of a consumable then you actually have. The best is to do the glitch with another item with a higher quantity prompt (such as vendor stock of arrows) but there's a curious "default" value of 99 you can use once per save-and-quit.
If you're interested I do have a video on Quantity Usage glitch.
@@keiferjh I mean item form humanities.
@dorcusss3693 Ah, yes. That's another interesting glitch where you can drop negative values of items. I also have a video on that glitch too and I'm sure there's plenty of material on it elsewhere too. I know it's used in any% speedruns for upgrade mats.
Wait how do you do this glitch
I'm currently working on a video to cover more about how to do Spell Swap and it's interesting interactions. The short version, however, is that if you start to cast a spell (pyromancy, sorcery, or miracle) properly with one spell tool but immediately cast a different one with another tool you get the second cast with the animation of the first, even if you don't meet it's requirements. It also does some wonky stuff with damage calculations depending on what the spells are.
@@keiferjh I tried it and casted fire ball using the force animation and it literally permanently covered my hands in fire. It was kinda funny.
@Ahhhhh638 Yup, there's all sorts of interesting effects it can create and they even stack. Play around with all sorts of spells and you'll see it can get pretty crazy. Sadly they're just visual but it's still entertaining!
How do you dupe like that
I use both the Quantity Usage glitch that lets you use an item with a quantity larger than you have as well as the glitch that lets you drop negative quantities. If you're interested in either of them I already have videos for each.
@@keiferjh any item duplications? Like can I dupe covenant items?
Yup, you can drop negative amounts of covenant items to effectively duplicate them. That's what I ended up doing for the Eyes of Death in this video.
@@keiferjh I would do it but buying 1000 pikes seems it would take a very very long time
@zakktaylor5019 Understandable. That glitch isn't particularly convenient on consoles. It's much better on PC when you don't have to go through those steps since the mouse and keyboard method is so much easier.
17:43 What do you mean by "him"? You meant "her" right?
While I only looked into it briefly, the lore behind Gwyndolin makes it a bit complicated. From what I can tell Gwyndolin was born male but raised as a daughter. Gwynevere even refers to Gwyndolin as her brother.

I love the video, but bro, why does your voice sound so emotionless? 😭
I'm glad you were still able to like the video!
@@keiferjh it was great. Keep posting videos

My favourite run ever !!!
I did at first only miracle and pyromancy and then only sorcery. It was so fucking funny it really does make you think and play the game differently ! I would also reccomend only bow and consumable it is also very funny
It was also quite fun! I've not done bow nor consumable only; maybe I'll have to try one out after the next couple runs I have planned!
Amazing video
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
