Hi Jan! I know why your Manjula got so many shoots...Manjula pothos are absolute beasts! At least in my experience. I have one and I think it's the most vigorous plant I have ever owned. I have just made preparations to put a couple of cuttings on a moss pole. Just waiting for a warm day. I really like how you have categorized "care" and "conditions". I have never heard it explained that way (Not even in college where I studied plant science!) The one thing that care and conditions have in common, is that each care, and each condition is a limiting factor. If any one of these factors is lacking, it can limit growth and vigor. Most likely it is rare for a houseplant to have all care and conditions met at all times, conditions especially can sometimes be out of our control. But with a little trial and error, and perseverance, we can give care and conditions sufficient for a beautiful plant. Thanks for pointing that out!
Well said !! Another thing conditions & care has in common is consistency - no point in providing your plants with great conditions or good care for a short time only. If you want your plants to thrive continuously you need to continuous provide good conditions & care for them :) definitely not a set & forget hobby :)
My heart skips a beat each time you do a Manjula vid. Your yard also looks stunning. Can't wait to see you in your own house. It's going to be paradise. 😍
Great video. I appreciate the effort you go to explaining your process and rationale. I am learning a lot from you. The proof is definitely in the pudding.
I think you are the most expressive, genuine and open person I have plant watched. I hope you don't get bored and find new ways of inspiring we the audience and your plant friends❤
This was interesting. I was amazed at his chop, placing the plants side x side for a fuller appearance. The plant was lovely. I would like to try growing a plant on a pole or stake in the future. I prefer this side x side although, it will probably depends on the plant and each situation.
Thank you for showing us moss poles over and over again. I know you feel you've already said it all but some of us (me) are watching this like we're lost in the car and have to turn the radio off! 😅 I finally got the nerve to plant my manjula on a pole last week and it rotted and had a fit so fast I didn't even get a chance to water a dry pole !
Hehe I’m always worried my content is too repetitive but maybe I have no need to be concerned :) sorry to hear about your manji … don’t give up :) next time you’ll have more success :)
Jan, I think this is the best documentation of PROCESS you have done to date. I appreciate you showing what's happened to the plant 2.5 months later, with details on where individual leaves were and where they are now; as opposed to many of your videos, which I would characterize as BEFORE and AFTER, since they show less details of what's happened to the plant and the time frame is wider, say 6 months to 1 year. PROCESS videos are the difference between you being an inspiration for our own indoor gardens, and you teaching us exactly how to achieve the best results. ❤ Congratulations on your greenhouse and on your growth as a content creator. Please keep the PROCESS videos coming. I know it's time consuming, but I'd suggest taking the extra time to include more and clearer closeups of the stems where you're getting changes in growth. i.e: when the leaves you pointed out were getting smaller, and also in the 4 new growth points.
Nice sponsor, I like rain forest sounds as well in my home made jungle (accompanied with plant 'sounds' recorded with electrodes, something big that produces bass. Helps me relax for sure). My mind definitely needs some help to calm, like I imagine more and more people do with all the screaming distractions :) Will keep Aura in mind for when I'm done at the veterinarian (always fun when the bills keep coming, luckily there is no big threat of health declining right now so only moderate stress).. I wish you and Bradley a healthy and calm year!
I've been watching your videos since Christmas and I'm delighted with the plants. I live in Poland, so you know the climate here. I have about 200 plants and decided to try using stakes. Thank you 💚
Wow to your Manjula, I recently bought a Manjula after watching one of your videos - one of the most difficult plants. When I re-potted I discovered it was actually three cutting 2 of which immediately rotted, I am now trying to repropogate from the one remained survived leaf. Pothos are usually so easy.
Thank you for once again sharing your efforts. I might try cutting new growth earlier on the first pole to encourage more stems earlier. We’ll see how that goes. Happy growing. 🌿🍃🌱
What a surprisingly successful chop and extend! Im curious, would you consider moss poles care or conditions? When repotting my newly aquired Manjula Pothos, I put a couple rooted stems on a moss pole and the rest in its new pot with your awesome aroid mix recipe. Both plants got similar indoor conditions, but in the 6 months of growth now, the moss pole Manjula leaves are twice as big as the other pot outgrowing its grow vertical . Now i need to rewatch your suggestions on taking plants off to put onto a regular moss pole 😹 which reminds me ( its the dead of winter here) making it much harder to keep optimal conditions. I may have to wait to repot/pole my Manjula? As well, I want to wait to video my moss poles for you after they've recovered from the near disaster of below freezing temps and broken furnace. Hopefully a video of Spring growth here will still work for you?😻
Thanks :) moss poles are definitely care :) they mimic the trees in nature so in my opinion it's the best way to grow the plants true to nature & realise the potential the conditions have set :) Yes, avoid too much stress/shock all at ones :)
Hi Jan. I’m a newbie subscriber and am ramping up my plant collection, care, and conditions. I would LOVE you aroid potting soil recipe. Thx, MaryPat in California
Thank You for Explaining the whole processes and solutions with the reasons why it works or not 😢 It's A Very Nice Video 📸 You've created and such a beautiful purchase to have a green house practically pays for itself Over Time Are You contemplating with food prices rising growing food in a well maintained hydroponic system Yet ??? 😮❤ within this greenhouse environment 🤔💡💞???? As a vegan, I eat a lot of veggies & my garden would never be big enough to grow enough veggies to survive :P but I have started growing some herbs, cucumbers & tomatoes :)
I was going to ask you if you still use GT foliage on your outdoor plants now that you use a sprinkler system, but you answered it for me, your manjula is just amazing, my Nelson has some growing to do 😕

Hi, Jan! I’m one of your new subscribers and am still catching up on previous videos. Please, forgive me if you have answered my question before. When you do a “chop and extend” and plant the top and bottom together, how do you adjust your watering with the bottle technique? Do you reduce the water on the bottom side? Do you put a bottle on both sides?
Hey :) was I water both poles like I would water them if they were potted up separately. i assess the need using the crunch test - but haven’t really noticed a big difference in watering requirements between top & bottom once they are planted next to each other
@@sydneyplantguy Oh, okay. Do you have to be more careful about overwatering the potting mix and roots that reside in the pot? Do you adjust the mix for the pot to have additional drainage to your normal aroid mix?
Wow 😍 she looks more beautiful every time I see her, ❤️ but now it looks like she really love her new place😊 is it a slow grower you think? Mine is growing sooo slow! But there are multiple plants in the pot though. Do you think I have to separate them so it's only one or two?
I keep getting brown spots on my manjula I’ve moved it repotted it but I can’t figure out how to make it happy any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you
I tend to underwater mine because I’m so paranoid and I can say I have zero brown spots! I truly think it’s from too much water. My plant is huge too! It’s also under grow lights.
It's hard for me to trouble shoot without knowing the conditions the plant is growing in, seeing the plant & understanding what happened historically., Have you checked the root health? Are you potentially misting your plants but have sufficient airflow?
@@sydneyplantguy I have it growing with a moss pole, clear pot and a chunky mix(orchid mix, perlite, worm castings) I thought I was giving it too much water I’m thinking that after watching you video multiple times the moss pole has been drying out between watering I’m going to to check the roots to see if there’s any root rot. Low dose of Foliage Focus with every watering :)
i wonder when that manjula will begin fenestration ? the little ones grow up so fast 🌱

two 90cm poles stacked on top of each other :)

I don’t :) the chunky aroid mix keeps it all together :) (and eventually the roots)
That manjula is insane! 😫🪴
