    Today at Speedy's Garage we're installing a LMI Legmaker Intake on our Dodge Challenger Hellcat Go Man Go. I'll cross check the data logs using HP Tuners and go for a test drive so we can hear the Legmaker Intake sound on the Hellcat and it really screams!

    I have the BWoody and man it makes my supercharger whine very loud and beautiful...whether I gain HP or not don't matter, that sweet sweet supercharger sound is what I'm paying for! One of the best parts is when I hit the gas pedal and the people walking on the sidewalks take off running scared because they think a jet is coming down the street!

    Buy a turbo guard for it for track days..I also bought the JLT rain guard for the vent. They sell the clear piece separately. I don't run the LMI shield either and I dremelled off the stock mounting point for a clean look.

    Nice choice Speedy! The carbon fiber inlet makes more sense for heat dissipation. I have an LMI on mine and I found out when going WOT the torque of the motor will make the Carbon inlet touch the heat shield and scratch the carbon fiber inlet. I took mine off for a little bit then I added a Rubber spacer to lift the heat Shield so it won’t Touch the inlet. 💪🏼👍😎

    Congratulations to your beautiful wife, really nice install, the only thing that might bug me is the hole in the front of the fender well for stock challenger air boxes, it almost needs a factory looking plug or something, but that’s just me lol, thanks for the video 👍😁

    Thanks for the mention!
    That was my theory behind testing the intakes at the track . SRT did a fantastic job designing the air box for a STOCK engine . But once you are past a certain point It would not supply enough volume of air . SRT changed the intake system on the demon and redeye for a reason .
    I too noticed more throttle response and when switching back to back at the track I really noticed a difference on the big end of the track ( and my time slips reflect it)
    Btw I keep the cover in the netting pocket of my rear seat delete just in case I get caught out in the rain . I also use the prefilter when street driving but remove it at the track .

      I'm waiting to see your track results . I believe it will help a lot of people . Essentially when 2 different people do similar testing without agenda. On my. Car it was only 1-2 mph at the 1/8 mile marker . But after the the aftermarket CAI really starts making the difference. I suspect you will see similar results .
      I used my MPH as the main point of reference because traction issues can really skew your ET's

    Sounds great. This might have been a good time to drive it with the cover on and then drive it again with it off to show the difference. I don't think it will be near as loud with the cover on. Although it will be louder than with a box.

    Hey Speedy, I was curious as to if you ever got any quality data on this intake or the jlt versus the stock intake at the drag strip. Also, did you notice any kPa variance when data logging? Just curious, wanting to see if your data corroborates mine

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  3 роки тому

      It's not really worth doing too much performance research honestly. The stock intake works very well with stock filter, or upgraded filter, these CAI mainly help modified cars "a bit". 20rwhp max and you're likely not gonna feel that on a 700 plus rwhp car. I went for the one I liked the fit and finish on the most.

      The IAT(inlet air temperature). Drops rapidly. In one of my logs I started the run around 118F and by the end of the run it was 91F (ambient was 90F) what I wanted to compare was MAT ( manifold air temperature). But my logs got messed up and it deleted a bunch of my channels .

  • @Saiyan4658
    @Saiyan4658 4 роки тому +1

    Question for ya Speedy, and maybe this is splitting hairs, but wouldn't the LMI without the heatshield cause some turbulence right above the air filter? Meaning the area above the filter is a low pressure area that Mopar designed so that the heat extractors on the hood could help dissipate engine heat while traveling down the road. The faster you go the more this low pressure area is working to do that function. Do you think the LMI without the heatshield is a good idea? Is there any logs in HPTuners that could verify this? Not sure what PID you would need to look at, maybe the MAF readings with and without the shield?

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  4 роки тому +3

      That's probably overthinking it. My thinking is that the low pressure above the filter will just magnify the cool air being drawn across the filter through the hole in the headlight especially at speed. Worst case it pulls cold air from the vent in the hood.

    • @Saiyan4658
      @Saiyan4658 4 роки тому +1
